Moms to Be Part 3

but I figured I should because I am getting close to the top of the list!I am 34 weeks and I had my first trip to the hospital this week because of my blood pressure.I only had to stay a few hours and it went down and all my labs looked good-I pretty much new it was coming and I had pre eclampsia with my dd so I monitor at home.It was going up all weekend-I didn't feel good the whole weekend because I was having contractions very often.I am having my shower this weekend-thats the most excitment I have had in weeks other than going to the doctor twice a week!My hubby painted the baby's room last weekend-it is a sage green color and the bedding is sage with brown monkeys.I am counting the days till he comes out-I just don't do pregnant well!! but I hope the rest of you are doing well.

Hello everyone...had another trip to triage today to monitor my blood pressure. They sent me home again because my blood and urine tests came back normal despite my pressure staying quite elevated all day (higher than it was the previous weeks). I have to do a 24 hour urine catch as well. Today's trip up there really has taken a toll on me. I just feel defeated. I'm 39 weeks 1 day and know that first babies usually take a while, but I was thinking with this big size he'd be here by now, or they would at least schedule an induction. My doctor told me today that if I got sent home from triage and didn't have the baby by my next appointment that we would have a date set sometime after 41 weeks. Which puts me at the day before Thanksgiving. I really hope to have him here before that. Any words of encouragement would be great. I hope everyone else is doing well.

Adi- good to hear from you. That's some crazy birth story.

Adi ~ what a crazy (and a bit terrifying!) story! I'm glad you guys are doing better!!

Pooh ~ Have fun at the baby shower!

Kristen~ I hope your baby decides to surprise you with an arrival soon.

Hi everybody! I haven't checked in for a while because things have been a little nutty...I went back to the OB last Thursday, and everything was good. We finally heard the heartbeat for the first time (157 bpm) which was great since I was getting beyond anxious. (I'm 15 weeks now-14 at the appt.) We scheduled for Dec. 3rd for the big ultrasound! We're so excited, and it seems like it's coming up so quickly!

We're also scheduled for baby class (my name) on 2 Saturdays in Feb. I figured one day would be overwhelming (and exhausting).

DH's grandpa passed away last Friday, so we drove halfway across the country (17 hours worth) on Saturday. By the time we got there, my legs were killing me. We tried to stop around every 2 hours. We did stop and spend the night at my parents' house on the way back, which gave us a break after 13.5 hours, then left us with 4.5 hours of driving today. I definitely didn't eat as well while I was out there! I need to get back on track with fruits and calcium.

We did purchase the stroller to go with our carseat (hand-me-down Chicco Keyfit from last Dec. that we know wasn't in a wreck or anything). I really like it. It barely fits in our car, so we're definitely starting to consider our options for going up in size.

We want to buy furniture, but are having a hard time making a decision. If anybody wants to post their crib and give me more ideas, I would appreciate it. I go back and forth! I also can't decide on wood color vs. white. White would be easier to find a cheapo changing table at a consignment sale, I think. Ugh!!

Crazy rearranging going on upstairs, for sure!

Turns out that we diddn't advance any more during that extra hour, so Sarah Grace was born at 9:39 via C-section.

Welcome Sarah Grace! What a beautiful name :goodvibes

Anyone else having trouble sleeping? I'm normally a back sleeper so getting used to sleeping on my sides has been hard for me. Now I'm at the point where my hips ache terribly and then I switch to the other side and then that hip hurts. So turning back to the other side is painful. I don't think that I have gotten a good nights sleep in 4 months... Also it feels like I am sleeping forever and then I wake up and only a half hour has passed. I woke up at 3am this morning and have been up since. I knew that I was going to lose sleep when the baby was born, but didn't expect it now. :rotfl:

Hula Girl,

I have had lots of trouble sleeping during this pregnancy. It has really only been within the last 2 or three weeks that I sleep really well (and I think some of that is due to being sick). If I notice myself going for a few days without sleeping well, I will take a Tylenol PM, and it helps me out greatly!!!

Sbell - Congrats on the arrival of Sarah! What are her stats? How is your wife doing now?

Adi - Wow, that was definitely a birth story to remember! How big did Isabel end up being at birth?

Madison passed meconium before birth too and it was definitely scary to think about the possibility that she could aspirate it. Luckily she was fine too.

Patsy - I never really saw my kids 'dirty' either and I had V births both times. 1st kid had meconium so she was whisked away immediately to be suctioned so she didn't aspirate. 2nd one was preterm so he was whisked away by the NICU peds to be sure he was okay. So really, don't beat yourself up too much as there's no guarantee either way. I would like to get the chance to see this one immediately after birth, but I'm not counting on it after the 1st two.

We're back from WDW, and likely the last trip we'll have for awhile. It was a good trip overall, but of course being with lots of people, particularly those who have never really been to WDW, can cause a lot more work than necessary on vacation. One of my cousins was 35 weeks pregnant so she ended up staying home, but sending her 5yo with her parents and sister. Well, she sent the kid sick, fever and vomiting, and my daughter caught it while we were there. So she and I spent a day in the room, doing absolutely nothing. We couldn't even use the pool cause she was too sick.

We also did a MVMCP which was fun, despite about 1.5 hours of rain. Because of the rain, WDW made all the party tickets into 1 day MK tickets valid for a year. They also let us turn ours into vouchers for a MVMCP or MNSSHP for next year since we had APs so the 1 day tickets didn't benefit us.

The crowds were great while we were there and the weather was overall really nice too. Made it pretty enjoyable to be there while pregnant, much better than over the summer when I was sick and not thrilled to walk around in the heat all day.

Oh, the one thing was that I forgot to bring my needles/syringes for my progesterone shot. I had the actual progesterone, but that clearly wasn't going to do any good. So my husband had to take a bus to DTD, then walk a mile to a pharmacy, come back, etc. Took over 2 hours, but I wasn't willing to go nearly 2 weeks without a shot, particularly given how much I contract everyday.

Today I took my kids for ice cream, which negated the 3 miles of walking that I did. I did come home to find an interview request for my husband, finally, so that was pretty exciting. I am really hoping we can move to Arizona and while he has a guaranteed job here in DC, this was the 1st interview request out there. Of course, I am mildly upset that I can't go with him, or at least likely can't go, cause I would have liked the time to check out the area. Guess that can happen in the spring if he is in fact hired and accepts the position.

UGH!!! Failed my 1 hour glucose test. Have to go in for the 3-hour test this week. I knew this was going to happen!

Tigger - Did you have GD with your son? I hope you pass the 3 hour! My friend failed that one too and had to do the daily testing (multiple times a day) and GD diet. Takes the fun out of eating what you want when you have an excuse.

Nope, I passed the one hour test when I was pregnant before. How will I make it through Christmas without any Christmas cookies????

Well I got some good news yesterday! I'm going to be induced on the 19th at 11:00pm starting with Cytotec(sp?) and then the pitocin will start around 11:00am on the 20th. I'm so happy to finally have dates in my head to when this little guy is going to make his arrival. I was starting to worry that I'd be in the hospital having him on Thanksgiving, not getting to enjoy my family's delicious Thanksgiving food! Tomorrow is my due date so he'd be just 2 days late if everything works out with the induction. I know I'm going to be in for a long haul at the hospital Thursday night into Friday... any suggestions on things to bring to keep me and DFi occupied?

Kristen - Congrats on getting a date! I hope everything goes smoothly for you on Thursday!

Woo hoo, I finally caught up!! I will be posting some pictures ASAP!

Congrats on the arrival if your princess!!

Holy cow Adi!!! What a crazy story!!!

Adi- good to hear from you. That's some crazy birth story.

Adi ~ what a crazy (and a bit terrifying!) story! I'm glad you guys are doing better!!
Thanks you three, we are doing great now. Looking back, I guess it was a bit cray, but we are well and that's what matters!

Adi - Wow, that was definitely a birth story to remember! How big did Isabel end up being at birth?
She was 7lbs 9 oz's (dropped to 7lbs even by day 5), 20.5 inches, head 13.5 - smaller than even I expected. We are sooo going to find a dr. that dies VBACs for the next one :)

So I had my 3 hour glucose test today.....in a word...YUCK!!!! Hopefully I will pass it. The drink made me so sick this time. Luckily, after they did the blood draw after the first hour, they could see how gross I was looking, and found an empty exam room for me to lie down in. That did wonders for me! Also, I am EXTREMELY thankful we were having a food day at work today!!! Mmmm, turkey and stuffing, many salads, potatoes, desserts....I made it back to work just in time to eat!!! And everyone knew to stay out of my way!!:rotfl:

Woohoo!!! I passed my glucose test!! Bring on the Thanksgiving/Christmas goodies!!!

Tigger - Congrats! What a relief that must be to be able to enjoy teh holidays!

Adi - Love the photos! Isabel is a cutie! I love her hair, I miss that baby spikey look.

Not much new here except that I have yet another cold. It's really getting old. We never get this sick an it's only November and I've had 3 colds, my daughter has had 2 stomach bugs, and both kids have had some nasty coughs. Plus that flu-like illness we all had. This is crazy!

Other than that, just waiting eagerly for my ultrasound Monday and hoping everything looks good, so my dr will give me the green light to go to Arizona with my husband for his interview. They're giving him 3 nights in a hotel and have a dinner set up where they will be inviting spouses, assuming I can go. I would love to meet some of them to get a feel for what my life will be like. I know I can't make any plans till I see what the ultrasound says, but I will be so disappointed if I have to miss it.

BabyTigger- Congrats on passing your glucose test!

Adi- adorable pictures of Isabel!! What a princess.

Update on me: I'm currently writing this from recovery at the hospital. Evan was born by what ended up being an Emergency C-Section on 11/19/09 and his time of birth was 11:19 pm weighing in at 9lbs and 1 oz. He is absolutely perfect and we could not be more happy with our little boy. I ended up being induced on my due date 11/18 and labored from 11:35 am on the 18th until they took me for the c-section at 11:00 pm on the 19th. I'll try to check back later...Hope all the mommy's and babies are doing well!
