Cool! I check my craigslist everyday, but so far nothing I was willing to drive for...

I don't really consider 20 minutes much of a drive. Heck, I drive that long to get to a mall, so not far at all.

I can't check every day, but search is my friend....

Did you see a difference in quality from JCPenneys furniture and BRU furniture? Im just wondering-- the only other furniture we found that we like is Munire-- and its a reg. furniture brand and a set is like $4,000-- and im not paying that! At BRU We can get 30% off and pick up at the store... but if the quality is better at JCpenneys we will give it some serious consideration.

Hi,
I will post a picture after I get the room together. Here's the link I posted before of just the bedding in the ad. I've found that JCP has a wide variety of cribs. The only sucky thing is that you can't go look at them or "try" them before buying unless you go to another store. They do carry a lot of brands that you can get everywhere but our set was only available to us through them. I'm not sure if it's their own "house" brand or not. I was specifically looking for a crib that was convertible without a dropdown side(s). The mattress base has springs and 3 adjustable heights.

I just love knowing that the crib that PaPa bought for DS1 will turn into a toddler, day, and full size bed. Same for DS2 since it's the same exact set. I really liked a few sets from BRU but couldn't see spending over $1500 on furniture. Our bedroom set didn't even cost that much. :rotfl: It might be worth a look on the website. I think we would have bought the set on sale or not but it sure was helpful to find it on sale and then get 20% off too. BRU might have just what you are looking for too. :)

Patsy-it is so much fun to have such a good friend have a baby around the same time as you. I have two good friends that I have made from Madeline's school that are both pregnant. They both have daughters same age as Madeline and now our second children are all going to be close together in age as well! Its been fun going through the pregnancy with someone else (I didn't have this with Madeline since we lived in the Keys).

Shootingstarmom2-I love your bedding set. I saw that one and thought it was so cute!

I got a call from my dr's office yesterday. Apparently I failed my 1 hr. glucose test! :headache: UGH!! So now I have to go tomorrow for the three hour test. And the bad thing is that I still get MS if I don't eat pretty quickly in the am. SO I am a little worried I am going to throw up the syrup.

How many of you have failed the first test but gone on to do fine on the 3 hr test? I'm just curious how good my chances are!

I understand your frustration and I am sorry. Don't stress. I passed the one hour with this pregnancy but with DS I flunked my one hour and then passed my 3 hour. Good luck!

I kept wondering why I was no longer getting updates on Mom's to Be board and now I realize there is a new one! Just subscribing back!

Cute bedding.

Okay before I order a set-- what are the pro's and con's to certain options on cribs?

Like you mentioned you didnt want a drop down rail-- how come? Is there a bad side to that? LOL I dont even know if the crib DH wants to order does that or not (didnt look into it that much- but now i guess style isn't the only thing to be attracted to when picking out furniture).

Well I guess for me I wanted a crib that would expand beyond DS being a baby/toddler. I didn't want to have to buy a toddler bed and then a big boy bed. I didn't want drop down sides because I was worried about it coming down on DS or pinching his fingers. I couldn't get the side to drop easily on the few we tried out so I figured a stationary side would be easier. DH and I are both tall so leaning over the side wasn't a problem.

I guess it's really what you like for convenience and style. I have lots of friends with drop down sides and they have never had a problem using them so I guess I might be the outsider. I can't even get theirs to work! :goodvibes You can get a rating of the crib online somewhere I'm sure, and read the reviews of people who have already purchased it. Someone online mentioned that the crib we have can't use traditional teething rails so we ended up having to buy the gummy rails that adhere to the crib instead of snapping on. That's one thing I never thought of until DS gnawed the side of his crib one day.

Maggie,

Now I on the other hand love the drop down sides and could not do without them...especially being pregnant now!!! I can't imagine being able to put DS to bed pregnant if the side did not drop down. I am 5'4" so you have an idea. Also, I know it is easier for my DM to put him in there with the rails dropped if she is watching him. I maybe wrong but if I remember when we looked most convertible beds did not have the drop down rails. My son is 2 1/2 and has never tried to get out of his crib so he is still in there. DS is a wiggly sleeper and ends up sideways during the night so he would not last much longer in a crib or toddler bed. We are going to get him a regular twin bed next. I am glad we did not go with the convertible style for us. Like was already said it is a personal preference. Have fun picking out your set.

Yay! It's a great feeling, isn't it?!

I live for craigslist :) I bought Ellas crib from there, as well as her bedding set. The bedding set and decor (lamp, wall art etc) was all new for $100. And, the bed is the kind that goes to toddler and full (the kind I wanted) for $100, and it's in beautiful shape. Even got the paperwork and receipt with it....

Neither do I, but a lot of the stuff in my area is more like 60min+

There's a great crib section in the Baby Bargains book. It's what inspired me to go to Ikea. They explain everything like the different kinds of drop rails (did you know there are more than one?) and pros/cons of major brands...it's great. The newest version of the book just came out this month.

So we found out yesterday that DH is getting 2 weeks off for Christmas break this year, so I was trying to convince him we should take Lily to WDW the week before Christmas. He said no way. :( Then we went to dinner for his dad's birthday, and he told them how I'm crazy for even thinking of going and everyone in his family said he was the crazy one!! lol In fact his sister said we should all take Christmas off this year and go to WDW together. (we've talked about that in the past) I doubt it'll happen, but it was fun to have his family on my side--it's their fault I'm a disney freak anyway. :teeth:

How old will the baby be?? Shoot, if all the family could go, I'd push for it :) We're going with all 4 kids, my parents and my sister and BIL next month, and Ella will barely be 2 months old... but it was a time we could all go (and honestly, I don't know if my dad will be able after this year as it is...)

I was walking through one of the college parking lots today and ran into a girl that was one of my best friends in high school. We've kept up somewhat, I went to her wedding and reception and she came to my reception but only through mailing invitations/calling each others parents. We've never updated our info to each other with our*new* lives...

So she rubs my belly (I was pregnant at my reception, it was 5 months after I got married) and asks how much longer and pulls out a copy of WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING!!
I'm on :cloud9:... no one in my age group was having kids and she just got her nursing degree, her husband is still in school and so I just assumed they'd wait.
She hasn't tested yet but she's hopeful and we exchanged numbers for her to let me know!!!! :yay::yay::yay: Either way, she's actively trying!!! :goodvibes

I'm crossing my fingers for her, I am so excited!!!

My OB's office gave me a bunch of handouts, catalogs, brochures, etc. at my fist appointment and one I read through mentioned you might not want a drop down side if you have pets- if you don't have it snapped into place just so, pet could knock it down and depending on how baby is laying possibly injure them, get them caught in it, etc.. It said it was a rare thing, but something to consider if you've got active animals.

I didn't want a drop-down because everyone I've talked to said they were so loud they woke baby up before they got them in the crib.

My crib converts (DaVinci Kalani) but doesn't drop down! :thumbsup2
(I gotta buy the special conversion kit to make it a full, but it'll go all the way from crib to toddler to daybed to full-size!)

I was thinking about you earlier!!

How are the kiddos?!

What a nice crib! I would suggest the gummy rail if you haven't already thought about that. It's wide enough to cover the top of the front piece and one more can cover the sides if you cut it in half. I forgot that someone mentioned a crib rail cover made of fabric, but couldn't remember if it was you or not. What color did you get the crib in?

I haven't yet. Seems like I'm always needing something from amazon so I was waiting until the next time I thought of something to order with it, to get free shipping! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I love the crib.

I actually love that song-it came on the other day right at the house, and I circled the block twice to listen to it! (His mama named him Tommy, but folks just called him yellow.....sometimes you gotta fight when you're a man). I was proud of him for sticking up for himself. His principal loves him, and decided that it wasn't a "real" fight (even though it was). Both of them got In School Suspension for one day, so no 0s. He said the other boy's discipline folder was so thick they could barely shut it. They had to go and find an empty folder for ds11:rotfl:. Apparently my sweet easygoing son isn't someone to mess with-the fight happened at the high school, and several of my students saw it. They said my son put a whupping on the other boy. Maybe he'll leave him alone now!

I had my 36 wk checkup today, and a sonogram. She is measuring right on time, and weighs about 5lbs 14 oz (more than I did when I was born!). She was practicing breathing, and is head down thank goodness. Everything looked really good according to my dr. He started out the door, then turned around and said we'd set an induction date in the next 2 wks. I hadn't even thought about induction, but I guess he wants to make sure to be there for the birth since I'm technically high risk (36 and had seizures after dd9 was born).

Wow, you are so close. :cheer2: I will be 31 weeks Friday and I am now starting to freak out a bit. I keep thinking... What if she comes early and I am not ready. OMG!!!
