Moms to Be Part 3

Okay I have to vent- again. Same problem, different story!

So I mentioned earlier to Piecey how I called the DR, AGAIN today about this issue that I believe is my gallbladder (Green stool, back discomfort, stomach discomfort, and Mondays terribly pain). Ive called twice this week about this problem (today making the second time). Well I called at about 10... and never heard anything back so just now I decide to call, AGAIN, and ask to see what the doctor said. This isnt just one green stool-- this is 3 days of green stool. So she goes to the dr because she cant read her handwriting (I believe it- i used to work there), and comes back and told me that it said "unless there is still pain, don't worry about it". Ummm- hello? I know, for a fact, something isn't normal. Ive had a perfectly fatigue/pain free second trimester thus far-- and suddenly-- i feel like crap (all after that terribly pain on Monday that was literally ER worthy). So I told her that Im not in "Pain" but "Discomfort".. and im no doctor but I know that something is wrong. I dont see why the drs wouldnt want to play it safe and send me somewhere to be evaluated- on my own dime. Wouldnt it be better on their part to be safe than to know about something and be sorry? Not that this is a worry- but what if something happened to me? Liver Damage? I lost the baby due to the baby not getting something because that something is wrong with me. I mean-- those may be radical things-- but without being evaluated somehow, someway, they don't know. They dont even have to do it there-- my drs office is within a hospital so i could easily go down and have the hospital evaluate me. Something!?

Okay- vent over. We will see what they say. Im sure im labeled as the problem patient now-- lol..

ETA: I did want to mention that i was told that at 18w i could still possibly be a candidate for gallbladder surgery. They do still do it in pregnant women up until the time that the uterus comes close to the gallbladder. I dont want surgery- ive never had surgery and really havent been to the doctor except routine visits at all-- but if its necessary why not catch it while something can be done. Is it just me here? Ahh-- pregnancy hormones! LOL

Ahh, I replied too soon!
That first part is exactly what the OB on call told me when I called. I highly dislike her for the way she treated me that night and if she's on call when I go into labor I'll throw a fit and demand they call my Dr.
(My OB was on vacation when my attacks started. :headache:)

Anyway-- The OB on call told me I had heartburn, not to worry, it wasn't anything but heartburn and that I needed to learn that pregnancy was uncomfortable at times. Right.
ER referred me to a surgeon immediately, due to the location of my stones (they're close to blocking the ducts that go to your liver, (and those other organs I can't remember!) so I wonder if yours are blocking??)

My surgeon did not want to do surgery because the risk of pre-term labor. He said the longer we waited, the more comfortable he would be. He said he'd do it if I wanted him to, if I was truly that uncomfortable, but I needed to prepare myself for the possibility of going into labor and losing Lucas. I was not prepared to do that.
He told me every week I waited would make him happier- that the size/location of my uterus have nothing to do with the outcome of the surgery (maybe makes things more difficult for him but nothing he couldn't handle)
He told me 32 weeks and later he'd do it in a second, if I wanted it done. So glad I got to this point! His only worry was pre-term labor and giving Lucas the best possible chance there was.. which at 21 weeks, when I had the attack, Lucas' chances wouldn't have been too great at survival.

Is there not a better hospital somewhere? Do you have a family Dr.? Can you call your insurance company and see if you have to have a pre-approval to meet with a surgeon? :confused3:confused3

*ETA*
Just saw that you're getting an u/s. Good! It'll make you feel ebtter just to know!
They gave me pills to take before I eat, to help me digest the food quicker and thus push it out of my system before the gallbladder was called into *work*... They helped for awhile, until I started to learn the things that trigger it and now I don't take them.
Pain meds are good, too, for those attacks that you can't get through on your own!! I've, luckily, only had to take it 4 times since January but I like knowing that it is there for me!
They should at least refer you to a surgeon to meet and talk about things now. They did for me and that appointment made me feel much, much better about everything!
Surgery doesn't bother me, though. Pay a dude to take 5lb off your chest and surgery doesn't seem so scary anymore. :rotfl:

LOL-- the curse of the green poop.

Well I finally got my doctors reg. nurse to give me a call- no wonder things were wacked-- the phone nurse wrote on my chart that I had pain when going to the bathroom & that it was green. Ive talked to that lady a total of 3 times since monday-- how did she get THAT out of my story? LOL. ANyway, my drs nurse called to see if that was really what was going on and i ofcourse told her my symptoms. i have an apt on monday and i can get an u/s if i want one. however, they said they dont treat the gallbladder in pregnancy unless its an emergency. i feel as though im probably wasting my time with the apt- but id like to know just exactly what the problem is-- even if it isnt the gallbladder.

Okay enough rambling for the day.

LOL im laughing at the pee-and poop comments (Baby pee and poop ofcourse)... but the peepee teepee's are so cute!

Melissa- hope you feel better soon!

Not sure if you saw my post above (I quoted it) but they are getting me in on monday. I can call tomorrow and have them schedule me in for an u/s (i dont know when the u/s would be-- but the earlier i schedule the better). My mom seems to think there is stones, otherwise i wouldnt be continuously having the green poop (i.e. bile). Ill let you know the outcome and you do the same.

What kind of medicine are you on? What exactly does it do? My stomach today has been killing me. Ive felt so good up until this point. Ive let my house go so bad- lol. Sitting at the computer having my organs jumbled up in this chair doesnt help a lot either- lol. I could probably be doing something more productive like dusting or vaccuming... wait, did i just say that? Nah..

ETA: nevermind you just answered everything in your edit!

I'm going to wait... it sucks, and I've been having more frequent attacks lately. That area is tender to the touch now and after another talk with my OB's nuse today she said what I'm feeling is NOT his feet that high (:rotfl:I'm such an idiot, I should have known that) so I'm sure that it's super-swollen. :headache:
They can also draw blood to check the levels of something (thats how the ER knew to check for stones, the bloodwork indicated gallbladder infection SOMEHOW?!) and I think they might re-check me if the swelling doesn't go down.

BTW, Dr. said Pepcid would help. Cutting down on the acid alleviates it a bit. Not a lot, but it helps.

A few weeks after Lucas is born, I'll be going in for my surgery and getting that thing OUT! :headache:

Only 47 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Which equals 31 more days of work, woohoo, haha!)

I was wondering if any of you had suggestions on Body Pillows? I am starting to feel I really need one (sleeping with a pillow between my legs is no longer cutting it) so I thought I'd ask here. All the one's I have seen seem really pricey, so I'd like the most bang for my limited bucks! THANKS!

Awww, I just got my boppy pillow cover from Pottery Barn Kids that was personalized with Landon on it and it has black marks all over it. I emailed them so hopefully they send another one and don't give me a hard time.

Still waiting to see if we got the house. The realtor called this morning and said they accepted our offer but we have to pass the credit approval and home owners association application. I WANT to know.

Thanks for all the welcomes!! The list really is getting long! I have a question, what in the prenatal vitamins tend to make women sick? I ask because after I was finished with the trial pack my doctor gave me at about 5 weeks I went straight to the Flintstones vitamins which were recommended by my doctor now. The Flintstones vitamins aren't making me sick, but I'm starting to have a problem taking them, does anyone know if the Flintstones gummies are the same and ok to take?

I ordered this one... http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2128727

Hated it. Used it two nights and gave up. A little irritated at myself for ordering it. :headache:

Now I sleep with a full body pillow on both sides (I roll from side to side) and I've got a micro-bead pillow (you know, the squishy kind?) that I stick under my tummy until I'm comfy.

It's worked best for me... but I know a lot of people on here swear by the pillow I linked to.

Congratulations!!! Let us know! :thumbsup2
I know how nerve-wracked DH and I were while we waited for the call back!!
I work for the bank our mortgage is through, so I totally cheated and did all that credit/application stuff when I had free time. :rotfl:

Thanks Maggie that website really did help. I may just have to go get those gummies. I figure if vitamins are what I need to take for the next 7 months at least I can have fun with them.

Am I the only one that didn't take prenatals? Or isn't taking prenatals, I should say?

My insurance doesn't cover them so...

I did not take them with either pregnancy. I tried but was off within a couple of weeks.

Melissa, good luck with your house offer!

Good to know. I took the samples they gave me.. but after that.. Dr. said they were waaay too expensive to buy out of pocket and didn't give me a Rx.

I did buy some from WalMart but I've not been too good at taking them either. Those Woman's Once A Day Prenatals. I think there are still some in the bottle actually. :rolleyes1
And I've taken the PrimaCare Samples my Dr. gave me.. and also the DHA Expecta or whatever from Enfamil? Had some samples of those.

Nothing steady, though. I sorta feel guilty but too late now. I ate a lot of salad. :rotfl:

Mm.. salad.. dinner time! :goodvibes

I'm not taking them. I coudn't with any pregnancy. I'm sick enough without them, but with them:sick:. But the ones I tried to take this time were only around $6 at Walmart.

I got my pre-natals at my grocery store for like 15 bucks. But they made me really, really sick so I stopped taking them. I just take the Flintstones chewables now.

Okay this may sound like a really weird question but...have any of you experienced any pain or discomfort in your groin? The last week or so I have been feeling some really uncomfortable tightening there...not in my abdomen but in my actual youknowwhat. It's almost like a muscle spasm. I looked it up online and then I asked my dad (he's a P.A.) and they both said the same thing...that it's caused by your ligaments stretching and moving to accommodate the baby. I just thought it was really weird and earlier it actually hurt. But my dad said not to be worried about it and to just take a tylenol. Pain in your va jay jay : yet another wonderful side effect of pregnancy :lmao:

I've been having horrible pains the last few days. Pinching and tightening, and tons of pressure. I think mine is due to the baby moving closer into position. Last week it was my hips-I felt like I was being split in two (like the wishbone on a turkey!).

Debbie Downer checking in (or so atleast i feel that way with all the gallbladder issues ive talked about). I did mention this before. I felt like I had pushing down pain up in there. Its like not directly in the va jay jay, but its like need to put my hand up in there and touch my cervix or whatever it is that is causing the discomfort. Not sure if thats the same thing or not:confused3 I havent had it in a few weeks though.

You need to put your hand up there  Mine's not THAT bad :rotfl:

It's so hard to describe...it's like pain in the inner va jay jay and it sort of radiates outward. Okay, that probably makes no sense. Ack, I don't know. I just want it to go away...it's super uncomfortable!

Yikes! I have felt the pinching tightening etc but feeling like you're the wishbone on a turkey...that's no fun!

I have hip pain but I think it's because I am a total stomach sleeper and going from that to only being able to sleep on my side has been hard. It puts so much pressure on my hips and I am constantly having to move from side to side because it starts hurting so much. Even with the pillows it doesn't help much. Plus, I read that our hips spread to make room for baby...what's with EVERYTHING moving around in there? Not cool ;)

Yes, I have had the same problem. Not real fun. I am also getting the pain on my right side. I find if I lay down and drink some water it helps.

I guess I have been lucky the my pre-natals don't give me a problem. They are expensive, $40 with insurance.:scared1: My first trimester they would make me feel yucky so I would take them at night with crackers. That did help.
