Moms to Be Part 3

I can't stand myspace. There are far too many little kids on it. I love facebook for its appeal to older audiences...tho my wall is getting a little nuts with the 10+ friends I picked up yesterday for telling Disers that I'm level 45 in Mafia Wars...now everyone wants to be my friend! lol

If they were free or if the big one was less than $80, I would go...but for $80 we can buy more stuff!

Your birth center rocks! I'm jealous!

THANKS!! If any of you ever saw house of babies on Discovery Health, that is my maternity center. I was a little "star" struck the first time I went, but now I just love them so much and they care for me so well, I couldn't be in better hands!

I understand $80 being too much - that is at least two huge boxes of diapers, or clothes or something you need!!

I never took birth classes when we had DS. I just could not justify the money.
Another reason we did not go was DH works two jobs and I did not want him to have to suffer through a class for me. It was my first child but it was number three for him. I polled alot of friends about it and they all advised me not to bother. Labor room nurse joked about how everyone forgets what they learned in class by the time the pain sets in anyhow.

I am not feeling to great today. I have been on the couch all morning. I have a headache and my legs are very sore. I think it is lack of sleep, DS had me up during the night almost three hours. He is the worst sleeper and it is really paying a toll on me this late in the pregnancy. Sorry, to be whining.

TGIF.

Yeah, I never took any classes... I kinda wanted to, but I agree, once the labor sets in, the last thing you'd think about is what the teacher told you to do during the pain... LOL

I have my profile private on myspace, so I haven't had to deal with the kiddie aspect of it....

And...how do you have time for games when there is so much to DIS about?? LOL

Sarah, thanks for posting your pics. Your prego belly looks cute!!! Wear it proudly!!!

I am one of those people who does not post pics on the internet. Sometimes it really kills me, because I would love to spread my DS's cute little face everywhere. I am so old fashioned when it comes to that. I just wanted to mention it to all of you because when Emma comes I will probably be the only one on this thread who does not post a pic. Hope you all understand!

I understand. Although I'm kinda the opposite, I understand why some people choose not to.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about all the recent gallbladder pains. I had mine out before I got pregnant with DS1. They asked me first thing if I was pregnant when they thought it might be my gb. I can say that not only eating bland food helps but so does staying away from anything that has tons of oil or acid (I found that out the hard way with lemonade). Obviously greasy food won't help but even things like soup can have a lot of oil or fat that doesn't get processed right. Having it out is a relief, but still a struggle sometimes because you just aren't the same with a sick one or without one altogether.

I was having some terrible pains that my dr said was round ligament pains and the pelvic bones shifting. I didn't have anything like that with DS, so I was worried. He said that since I've been there and done that my body would react differently having someone new in there.

I did get my crib set ordered tonight. JCPenney had it on sale and then I found a 20% off code for online orders. I figured it wouldn't work, but we saved almost $200 off of the sale prices for all 3 pieces. I'm so excited to get it put together. I've been keeping tabs on what we did when for DS1 and trying to keep up for this one. As long as we have the room painted by the middle of next month we're good. I can't believe it's 32 weeks already. :goodvibes
Im glad you said that about oil. I did think about acid-- but not really oil. I ate some chicken noodle soup the other day and didnt eat the chicken or noodles, just sucked on the broth-- probably shouldn't have done that. But ofcourse you always think Chicken noodle soup is the cure to everything. Now i know its not. lol

I wanted to say a BIG Thank you!! You just mentioned JCP and Ive been looking for crib bedding like crazy. Ive checked out BRU, Target, and WM. I dont like ANYTHING those places had. I have even checked out custom stuff on ebay. Boy bedding is so hard to find unless you want elephants and toy trucks. I didnt even think to check JCP- so now.. i have a new website to bury my head into today. My butt wont be thanking you-- but I do!

Good morning all! I hope everyone is doing okay today so far.

I see ya'll got on some pretty gross topics yesterday! I had to skim some of them because it was just too gross to think about. I can't believe the whole placenta thing. Gross!

Sarah-you do not look FAT! I'm glad you posted the updated photo since we were just discussing this on fb last night! I know you are kinda middle of the road when it comes to looking pregnant, but believe me, you look more pregnant than fat, that's for sure!

I feel so bad for Patsy and Maggie with the whole gallbladder episodes. I hope things start getting easier for both of you. I just can't imagine. I definitely feel like a wimp when I start complaining about my little aches and pains! Its mostly my hips at night. They start hurting about the middle part of the night and I end up moving to the couch to sleep.

Of course, it doesn't help that I am not sleeping in my own bed-we are still renovating the bedroom and we are sleeping in the guest bedroom. All I can say is that I can't believe I make my guests sleep on that bed! :scared1: :lmao:
Don't worry about us! This stuff will eventually subside.

I hate to hear about your hips. My gf, who is about 28w, has been having terrible hip pain for some time now. Shes a super skinny mini though. Ive always had hips that go on for days...so I dont think this pregnancy has really effected mine. I hope were able to get some relief!

Gosh! I hate hearing that everyones been feeling rough. What are we going to do with outselves. I hope you get some much deserved rest. They say good long rest in the third trimester makes for a faster delivery. Shut Dh and DS in a room together and make them fend for themselves ;) Then you go get your needed rest-- well, for one night atleast!

Sarah- you do not look fat at all. Dont say that. You look great! Thanks for posting the photos!

It's crazy how different everyone is, lemonade is the only thing I can drink regularly. The Dr. suggested it, as Lemons are on my helpful "foods" list. :confused3
I keep a pitcher of lemonade in the fridge at all times now and they suggested I drink a glass when an attack starts.

OHhh.. link? I wanna see. :) :rotfl:
Great deal!!!!!!!!!

How exciting! I'm a little jealous that everyone is getting new cribs. We are just using dd's again. Of course it looks like she decided to use the front rail as a teether! (Or either a beaver got a hold of it! :rotfl:)

I'm going to order this here in a few months:
http://www.amazon.com/Teether-Cover...UTF8&coliid=IS42LKN20MT4Y&colid=3PVK7HPPGGRLI

Or the next time I want something from there and it's not enough for free shipping.... I don't want Lucas to ruin his crib!

Cross your fingers that I can get a lot of $$$ out of it! If we do, I just might get that ceiling fan!

Speaking of money, how many of you have decided not to take the birthing class or who thought it was really worth it? My hospital charges $80 for the one day class and then $30 for some others (bfing, general baby care, and child cpr). I found an awesome set of Dvds at my library that are basically exactly what the class teaches you and then we're going to take the tour for free...

Fingers crossed. :thumbsup2 (The fan is soo cute)

I only went to ours because it was free. I wouldn't have paid. $80. Are they crazy? That's a whole heck of a lot of baby stuff! :scared1: (And a nice portion of that cieling fan...)
I feel like I learned a bit, but the class really only made me more comfortable with the hospital itself. My favorite parts were when they showed us the tools they use to assist labor, talked about the security they use after babies are born and the tour. Oh, and the pain management available to use moms-to-be. DH liked lunch the best. I imagine you'd get most of that from the tour.
Did you check with the Red Cross? We're taking infant/child CPR through them.
I think it's normally like $20 (because you have to buy a book)... but they're waiving it because DH is a Veteran so I can't swear to that.

I would try the DVD's now and if you're not comfortable with them, you can always do the class later.

Maggie...

I probably should have mentioned Chicken Noodle Soup, which I thought was safe, is what landed me in the ER...
I was eating it like crazy, it was quick, easy and yummy. Yeah, that was definitely the night the pain got so bad I couldn't ignore it and I was in the ER. Haven't touched it since!

I'll check with the Red Cross...I've also been trying to get my library to send me to a basic First aid class at the local community college. I've been in a couple of situations where it would have been good for this children's librarian to know more about what to do...

Sorry. :headache:

The ER Dr. laughed when I told him that was all I'd eaten and said "Yeah.. not the safest fall-back for everything."

Off to work... gotta decide what I want for lunch on my way.. decisions, decisions... ;)

Have a great day everybody!

LOL thanks Piecey- now i have nothing to eat for lunch (jk).

Okay so I have certainly fell in love with a designer of crib bedding. Its not all animals and letters (nothing wrong with that at all - just not my style). However, the sticker shock is really out there . I probably wouldnt have thought much about it-- but i know what BRU and places are charging for 4 pieces-- so this will make you scared. Anyway, the designer is "Little Bunny Blue" and they have the cutest girls and boys bedding (not just boys- i know the name sounds like its only for boys). Just thought id share if any new upcoming moms were looking. Ive had the hardest time. Im going to continue looking-- i need something to jump out at me-- and i must admit- the boy bedding is never as cute as the girl bedding.

I'm not even going to look at that site since I already bought bedding and I don't want to be tempted. I bought his bedding at Pottery Barn Kids and even though it is back ordered until June (still plenty of time) it was only $110 for the bumper and skirt and I bought 2 sets of cloud sheets for $23 each. I didn't want or need a quilt because I plan on using the sleep/swaddling sacks to prevent the risk for SIDS.

On to more exciting news WE GOT THE HOUSE!!:cool1::cool1::banana::dance3::dance3::yay::yay:

CONGRATULATIONS!! How exciting!! When do you move in? Now you know we have to see photos! And just think, you get to start the nursery ASAP (and hopefully the nesting phase will help you get everything done before litte man arrives!).

Okay I have a question. When you see this- do you think its a girls or boys bedding? Honest question here. (It does have some blue flowers on it- you can go to the detailed photos to get a closer view). I HATE being told what someone thinks I want to hear-- so shoot me straight. Just remember-- im not an animals/character type person.

I think it all looks very masculine except for the flowers, but for a baby boy I think the flowers would be ok. My DH would likely NOT like it becaus eof that though, but I think it is masculine.
