Moms to Be Part 3

Seems all the moms I know are going early and Lily seems very content where she is...I just want her here so DH can be with us.

If it makes you feel any better, my midwife says that most first time mom's (left alone, to let nature take its course) will go later than their due date. Have you tried doing some natural induction methods??

OMG!! That is the SAME crib DH and I have picked out! So, obviously I am biased, but I love it!

I love it too :teeth: Just be careful when you actually get it...we took my mom's suburban and even with the back seats taken completely out we STILL had to remove the outer box to fit it. It's HUGE.

And a word to the wise...be extra careful when assembling it. It scratches really easily. Luckily it only got some scratches at the very bottom on the backside that's facing the wall...but yeah. Just a heads up :thumbsup2:

No we haven't tried anything to get things going yet, but I will definitely look into it. I don't want to try anything until DH's jury duty is over though. :thumbsup2

Third trimester ladies...

Do you ever have days where your stomach feels extremely tight all day long? Mine feels particularly tight on the sides and up high. I can tell my stomach is moving further north (ive been carrying low)... and im not sure if this is my rib cage expanding or what. LOL i have been eating quite a few cinnamon rolls lately-- lol now im starting to get scared. lol

Anyway, it almost feels like a balloon that has expanded to its max... full of water (heavy). I can still stick my stomach out farther than it is by a little bit-- so i know its not like im stretching the skin on the outside-- it just feels very very tight and very full today. Its hard to do much of anything... even eat. lol. Walking, sitting, laying down, nothing seems to really take the weight/tight'ness off.

Anyone else experiencing/experienced this??

Yes, I feel like I'm an overstretched water balloon too. Wish I could offer advice on how I've made that feeling go away, but I think I've just gotten used to it. Sort of...

Yes, it comes and goes for me. I can't really offer any advice...I haven't found anything that really makes it stop, but for me at least, it isn't constant.

I've had the weirdest day at work.

Right after I came in a mom introduced me to her 2 week old daughter (she was wearing an outfit we just bought for Lily) ...a couple of hours ago I met a 10 day old little boy in the same travel system we ended up buying....and just now I met a 5 day old little girl and her parents! The mom looked FANTASTIC! I seriously thought she had to be adopted...
too weird...

Sarah - Maybe the 'thorough' internal will help get things moving. I have zero experience, but my SIL did tell me that her OB won't do internals once a woman has ade progress between exams because it can speed things along. I have no idea if that's true, but maybe you'll be lucky and it will help things get favorable.

And if you're looking for natural induction methods, other than the obvious, my friend swears by wearing nipple shields. Her OB recommended them to sort of get things moving (she was trying to avoid an induction) and her kid was born 3 days after she started wearing them. With #2 she started at 38 weeks and he was born in a few days as well. I do have some that I wore after my kids were born to collect my leaking milk cause I soaked through nursing pads in the beginning (gross, I know) and they were pretty comfortable, though I can't speak for pre-kid use.

Fresh pineapple is supposedly a natural way to bring on dilation, too.

I didn't know that until after I'd eaten some (and I did go 2cm in two days afterwards ;)) and read an article a few days later.

My midwife uses a breast pump on mom's who need to get going if they are past due (b/c here in FL you HAVE to deliver by 42 weeks or else you have to have a medical induction or a c-section). As well as certain exercises (sitting on one of those exercise balls) and of course marital activities :lmao: are supposed to help. I've also heard of fresh pineapple and rose hip oil vitamins helping.

Mmmm, fresh pineapple sounds delicious right now. And if it helps me dilate more well, that's just an added bonus ;)

Wow...that's one I didn't read anywhere else!

I've been planning to get a bunch tonight! Hopefully I don't cut my fingers off! lol

Thanks for the ideas!

Sarah, check the produce department.
Most of the stores around here sell it already cut up. I get huge containers at Sams that I eat on for DAYS (I'm a pineapple junkie, I even have a pineapple tattoo :rotfl:) for like $7. Well worth the $$ already having it cut up, if you ask me!

My mom always cuts it herself and it tastes sooo much better than the stuff in the containers. I don't know why, I'm sure that stuff is very fresh too. I'll just have my mommy cut it up for me! :thumbsup2

So my Dr. did check me today. No progress to report and I don't know why I was sad not to get checked last time because I am still uncomfortable from that a couple of hours later. At least I'm still under 200 lbs. and, as one of my church youth advisors, I should be glad nothing is happening because Youth Conference is July 24-25 and I would really like to be there for it.

You'll feel better tomorrow. I felt horrible after yesterday, but I'm back to normal today. It's too funny how similar we are...I'm still under 200 too, just barely!

DH bought me a pineapple! :thumbsup2

Yum! That always sounds good to me whether I'm pregnant or not. I love fresh pineapple. The youth conference dance is luau-themed, so maybe I can eat a lot of it that Saturday night and see if it helps. The dance is our last conference activity, so if it does it won't matter. Or maybe I should just participate in the limbo and see what that does.:rotfl:

I am so nauseous today. blah.... but for some reason after reading all the pineapple posts I want some.... hmmm...

I have an ultrasound tomorrow morning at 8 and am nervous about it. I was having some discharge/spotting last week so they had me come in just to check it out. I got to see the baby then and see the heartbeat (they couldn't get the sound at that time, too early) but they want me to come back to see if the pregnancy is viable. Just crossing my fingers because at times I still can't believe that I'm pregnant.

Plus I just found my perfect job online. My local library is hiring for a library clerk. I can't even explain how that is my dream job! I'm a reading fanatic. I'm going to apply tmw. Fingers crossed again!!!
