Moms Panel Results!?

Hello everyone,

I was thinking that we should do a question of the day or something like that to help make time go by easier and learn something about everyone here.

What I know for sure is that we have an awesome group of people. Regardless if you are a finalist or not, you all ROCK!

Anyway, I was trying to come up with a fun question that would help us learn about you and I couldn't narrow it down to just one, so here are a few to get us started...

1) Tell us about your pet(s) if you have any.
2) Do you live in a big or small town?
3) What is your favorite Disney Park? (Feel free to include any park, not necessarily at WDW.)

I will start...

1) Just to add to our craziness, I have a Golden named Max, a Pug named Parker, 2 brand new kittens named Ginger and Gabby (yes, that is short for Gabriella from High School Musical, but my DS15 wouldn't allow such a "blatant reference to a teenage girly movie") and 2 Hermit crabs names Billy and Lilly.

2) I live in a suburb just outside of Milwaukee. I am VERY lucky, I can see a pond and a cow pasture from my front porch yet I am only 15-20 minutes away from Downtown.

3) My favorite Disney park if I were going to be there alone or with my older kids is probably Epcot. I love exploring the countries and talking to the cast members from afar. They all have really interesting stories and I love to hear about how they ended up at such a magical place. Interesting stuff!

Lets see.

1. I just got a puppy, a mini schnauzer "Miss Molly"
2. Great Big Town (Houston area)
3. Animal Kingdom (I love watching our kids there) We are going to DL at the end of the month. I'll let you know if that changes after we return.

(Feel free to include any park, not necessarily at WDW.)

Is there any other place? LOL

Here are my answers:
1) 7 year old yellow lab; 1 year old cat (no more animals after this...which is what I said when our 17 year old cat died last November)
2) Small town girl with big city personality
3) Magic Kingdom

Hi,

1. No pets
2. I live in the small town of Newton, NJ.
3. My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom.

1. No pets. DDs would dearly love to get a dog, but I'm really a cat person. DH is very allergic to cats, so until those new allergy-free cats get cheaper than $4,000 each, we're at a standstill.
2. Just outside the Big Apple.
3. I like MGM (excuse me, Disney Hollywood Studios).

DDs are going to be a monkey, a white rabbit (but not THE White Rabbit), and a piece of salmon sushi (I must say that this is by far the coolest costume I ever made). So, no Disney characters this year, though there have been MANY princesses in the past, and one year when my three DDs and I all dressed up as Minnie. Awesome pics that year.

OK, I just checked out another Disney board (I know - slap me!) The few from there who made it to the final interviews were told that Disney monitors all Disney discussion boards.

SO - based on that, HEY DISNEY, I'M TALKING TO YOU!! WHY DID I NEVER RECEIVE ANY SORT OF RESPONSE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER??

I checked all of my mail folders at least 20 times, doing searches and checking the dates that responses were sent. I did receive confirmation that my entry was received. If you received any emails that were bounced back, did you try again? Once I learned that Disney WAS sending regrets emails (contrary to what we were told at the start), I completely disabled my computer protection waiting for a response.

It's ok if I wasn't chosen; very few were. I still love Disney and will continue to vacation there. This whole process has beeen very poorly handled.

OK, rant over.

To those who have had, or will have their interviews tomorrow, I wish you the best of luck. DISers are the best! With 20 candidates from these boards, we're bound to have at least 6 make it. How awesome is that??!!

Great questions!
1) We have an old Springer Spaniel. Her name is Mitzee!
2) We live in a big town outside of Pittsburgh. It is a wonderful combination, country setting however "the burgh" is right down the turnpike with a great cultural district and awesome sports teams (well, the Pirates need a little work!)
3) MAGIC KINGDOM! There is nothing like it! My runner ups would be Sea World (petting the dolphins is amazing!) and hometown fav. KENNYWOOD!

I am dreaded my kids Trick or Treat because I have been comforting myself with chocolate the last week and anymore I may turn into a Hershey Bar!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am so sorry to the poster that didn't get a response! Sometimes the internet isn't perfect and makes mistakes too! Is it possible that you entered a mistake in your email address? I know I do that sometimes! I was worried I did that in this contest, but apparently, I didn't! Just one little error and it gets messed up, could be on any side! I am sorry!

Yasmina,

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience. I don't think Disney had the intention of hurting anyone's feelings or subjecting any of us to heartache. I find it hard to believe that they just didn't send out some e-mails. (It could have happened though) I guess you could say I'm the optimist of the bunch but lets says they are just lost in Cyberspace. I would hate for anyone to be bitter or say something in haste because we really don't know what all they did. We do all know, that Disney is a company who strives for excellence (we can see this by how they handle customer service issues or just by reading additional threads on these boards) Like I said before, this was really only a contest and what were our chances. The odds would have been more in our favor if we would have just played scratch off!
We can WHAT IF this entire process, but I would rather not. I will apologize for them and hope that everyone who did not get an e-mail will accept this on their behalf. Just like I tell my children "Lets Learn from Our Mistakes". After all, this is the FIRST moms panel.

Nah, like I said, I did get confirmation of my entry, so if there was an error in the email addie, it was their mistake somewhere along the line. Don't know if that is even possible.

But thanks anyway. Hey, stuff happens, I'd just like to know what happened here.

Thank you.

I'm not bitter. I figured that out of 10,000 responses, my chances were slim at best. They did say in the confirmation email they said they wouldn't contact those not selected. It's just a bummer that it appears there WAS a group they chose not to respond to, but then they did send 2 different types of rejection letters to other entrants not selected.

My concern is: what if I WAS selected for round 2 and never knew it? Oh well.

Of course they had to know that we all compare notes.

Like I said, I'm not bitter. Disney is still the best, I'd just like some answers.

BUT I'm proud to "know" all of you selected for the interviews! You obviously have some characteristic that the rest of us lack, and you are awesome!

Thank you.

I felt better when I heard there was a poster on this thread that did make it to the 2nd round, but didn't find out about it when others did. So I am no longer wondering IF my acceptance email never made it to me. :rolleyes1 I think they would have tried harder if someone made it to round two, but never contacted them back. After all they had our address and phone numbers too.

However if they ever have another one where they are taking old applications, I am going to apply again just to be sure. ;)

I am thinking positive here. Because if this works, who knows, maybe Disney World will have a program for non-Floridians to work remotely from home in this type of job setting. You never know what they have up their sleeves! It is Disney! Wouldn't that be incredible? I can't keep second guessing myself anymore, I know I love Disney so much and there is something in store for me with this passion. I made some mistakes in my submission in the 2nd round which I totally kick myself, but I am only human, just like the CM at Disney (referring to a possible issue with the emailing). This was a learning experience for me too! Stay positive and remember this could lead to BIG things! I truly believe Disney appreciates people like us who are so passionate about the place they love too! It is the most magical place on Earth and it will stay that way because of Walt Disney's ideas, I can't stop believing in anything other than that. One of the things that always melts my hearts is the way Disney handles the disabled. I know this first hand! It is a special company, a corporation , but a very special and compassionate corporation! That speaks volumes in itself!

YES, I am a sap and I cry when I see Cinderella's castle too (everytime!).

GO DIS'ers!:thumbsup2

1. We have two guinea pigs, Epcot and Disney
2. I live in a small town
3. Disneyland is my favorite Disney park.

There have been countless posts about this.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that everyone who received the rejection email (and I was one of them) were not just being advised they didn't make it, but were also being advised that they were somehow selected to be contacted for another yet to be disclosed Disney opportunity - which I would guess is likely going to be some type of market focus group or survey.

I don't think that Disney changed its policy on not advising those who didn't make it. There are too many people who never received emails for that to have occurred. It's just that in addition to not making it to round 2 you also didn't make it to the list of people selected for this other future Disney opportunity - whatever it is. Given the large amount of people in this group I can't imagine it will be all that special, and like I said, is probably some type of survey/focus group.

Don't get me wrong - I don't know why it would be so hard for Disney to send rejection emails to everyone. However, they did say in advance that they weren't going to and this is typical practice of many companies who have competitions or sweepstakes such as this.

Whew what a busy night! My kids were pirates tonight. My ds was a version of Captain Jack and my dd was in a girl pirate outfit. DD was supposed to be tinkerbell but she wore that to a costume party over the weekend and it ended up bothering her skin pretty bad. She has pretty sensitive skin.

Here's my answers:
1. no pets
2. small town
3. If it were just me & DH I would pick Epcot, but as a family it would be Magic Kingdom. I love watching my kids there. They just light up inside.:cloud9:

I'm going to go have some soup now, I'm coming down with a cold.
Good luck to anyone interviewing tomorrow.:cheer2: :cheer2:
