I was just wondering, where do you do your clothes shopping for your sons? My twins just had a major growth spurt and are now completely out of the "T" sizes and are into size 5 and 6. My daughter is now happily shopping at Limited Too and sometimes Justice with her older sister, but where should I take my son? Is there anything equivalent for boys? I do a lot of shopping at Target and Children's Place too but I'd like to have somewhere that he's excited to go shopping at too. He still loves shopping with me and I want to encourage that ;)

I shp at Gap and Old Navy. We have lots of places for girls, but not boys.

My youngest son is a shopper as well but it's usually the toy store or Target and Wal-Mart that excites him.
I have 3 sons, ages 5, 9 and 15. I buy most of the little guys clothes in Wal-Mart ... this summer it's been a bunch of Garanimals. They have held up really well. They wear size 4 and 6 shorts and can both get away with 6 shirts so they can switch off. I also like to shop for them in J. C. Penney. I love their Arizona jeans ... they have a zipper and fly but still have a bit of elastic in the waist. And of course can't forget The Disney Store for t-shirts.
I have 2 older girls as well. I have to say shopping for little boys is a whole different experience.

There are so many nice clothes and stores for girls and so few for boys. I remember when my boys were little, trying to find a nice outfit for Christmas pictures...the girls sections had all these cute red dresses, and I could barely find something in a "T" size without a truck, football, or dinosaur on it. :confused3

Now, I have the best luck at Old Navy and especially Kohls (and everything is always on sale here). My oldest will actually wear the clothes I get for him at these stores without complaint.

Good luck!:rotfl: I have the best luck @ Gap Kids or Kohls. My son doesn't like anything to crazy or to graffic so Old Navy doesn't work for me much anymore. Also, we live near the east coast so alot of the surfshops have cute things for boys too.:)

That's the problem we're having. There are so many places that are such little girl destinations but not so much for the boys.

I buy my boys their clothes. Ds10 wears sweat pants and tshirts - he could care less about his clothes. He could own 2 pairs of pants, 2 shirts, and he'd be happy. He does get excited about team shirts (yankees, giants, professional soccer jerseys). I have yet met a boy excited to go shopping for clothes. :rotfl2:

My son is 6. I like to get the basics at Old Navy/Gap and then get some nicer Polo brand stuff at department stores. Our boscovs has great sales on Polo (1/2 off) all the time. Another idea is some of the sporting stores (we have a Dick's and Sports Authority here) and get some Nike or Under Armor stuff. Pretty plain (no decals) except for the logo.

oh, I forgot to add I also like Lands End (you can buy the stuff at Sears now). Very good quality and not so much stuff on the clothes.

My son is 7 and my daughter is 5 so I understand your problem. There are so many girl stores that have clothes but also "girly" toys etc... It would be nice if there were a boy store that had stuff too.

We just have shopped at the mall, Old Nave, Kohl's etc... and then gone to do something fun for him. I haven't found a store that really caters to boys like the girl's stores do for girls.

I do a lot of Land's End, H&M, Sears and JC Penney. I avoid Old Navy and Gap at all costs, because I can't stand the brand labeling on everything, and every boy I see is wearing those clothes.

Definitely Target and Walmart, too - I used to avoid Walmart clothing, but their quality has improved lately.

My DS8 likes Kohl's because they carry Tony Hawk clothes. I like it there because of their sales. I've bought Hawk hoodies for $1.80, T-shirts for.90, jeans for 7, and Vans shoes for $12. :)

I also like to look at Marshall's. Sometimes you can find some good bargins.

I so feel you!!!! Even at places that carry both boys and girls clothing, the girls clothing outshines the boys!

I have to do all over shopping for my son. My top choices are Gap, Old Navy, Target, Macy's, JcPenneys and Children's Place.

I stick to Wal-mart for play clothes and things I don't mind getting dirty.

Good luck to you. I think most of us with boys feel your pain!

Penneys is my go-to store. Especially for underwear. Kohl's is good, too; I tend to like them for swimwear and shoes in particular.

Personally I've always bought most of DS' clothes at Once Upon a Child. Pre-shrunk, cheap, and often very nice brands. He beats them to death anyway, so why pay more than I have to? He'll be outgrowing their sizes soon (he's 11, and wears a size 14 now), but I comfort myself thinking of all of the money I've saved on clothes until this point, now that I'm going to have to spend a lot more to get him through the teen years.

I shop at Target, Kohl's, The Children's Place, and Old Navy, primarily. I never really noticed the difficulty of shopping for boys, despite having a 9 1/2 year old and a 11 month old. I always thought it was just fine.

We do the bulk of our shopping at Old Navy, Gap kids, and The Children’s Place. I also pick up things here and there at Kohl’s, Target, Sears, JC Pennies, the outlet mall (Oshkosh, Tommy Hilfiger). None of my boys really care that much about clothes.

My biggest gripe is that girls got the shaft in so many areas for so long that there are tons of specialty stuff geared to them—and I think that’s great—but now there is nothing for boys. Take Disney. There are gender neutral meals and princess meals. There are princess balloons, Tinkerbelle balloons, and balloons with Mickey AND Minnie. I could keep going on, but I’m OT. Girls have caught up with boys in all the ways they were behind and are now starting to pass them up; girls are more likely to graduate from college than boys. I think we are now hurting our boys. Maybe I just notice more because I’m the mom to ALL boys…? I’m off my soap box now.

I have two little guys and I love to shop for them! You are right, there are not any boy-only stores like for the girls. I especially like Gymboree, Janie & Jack and Crazy 8. I also like Nautica, LL Bean, Baby Style, CWDkids, Hampton child and Mini boden. Macy's and Lord & Tyalor are always good for some sales on Ralph Lauren Polo and Kenneth Cole.

I shop online for lot for these since not all of them have stores in my immediate malls/area.

We've been buying a lot of ds's things from Boden. They are a internet / mail order site from the UK - and yes they are pricey - but the clothes are the most amazing quality, thick soft cotton, cool appliques and their resale is amazing! I get`close to retail - if not over - after wearing it for a full season:woohoo:

I forgot about Boden. I'll have to check them out for fall. Thanks:)

I like Old Navy, but then I haven't really looked too far afield from that. I don't buy the ON shirts with "stuff" on them...just got DS a few polos and some pocket tees with stripes on them.

I think I'll have to start looking at Land's End, though, I always forget about them!

I used to get frustrated by the lack of "cute" clothes and get resentful of the girls clothing industry, but when I tried to figure out what could be done about it, I couldn't come up with anything. Boys clothes are basic, and it's the boys themselves that make them cute. Basic pants, basic shirts, etc...it's just the way it is!
