moms of boys, clothing question?

My kids (ds 10yo & dd 7yo) hate to shop and i often have to buy the item, bring it home, have them try it out, and keep, return, or exchange from there. I used to shop at gymboree when ds was younger, unfortunately, he's grown out of gymboree. I do purchase clothes for him from Gapkids, Old Navy, the Children's Place and more recently Pumpkin Patch. Absoultely love the things at Pumpkin Patch (for both boys & girls). Unfortunately it's quite pricey and i usually have to wait for a sale.

DS is on the outer edge of the "T" sizes. He wears some things that are outside the "T"s. We like Osh Kosh, Kohls, Penney's, Old Navy, Children's Place, Sears and occasionally Target or Wal-Mart.

I usually shop at gymboree and Gap for both kids. I'd say most of the clothing comes from Gap though. I just love the quality and the "teenager" look. I find them easier to get the stains out of too.

I so feel you!!!! Even at places that carry both boys and girls clothing, the girls clothing outshines the boys!

I have to do all over shopping for my son. My top choices are Gap, Old Navy, Target, Macy's, JcPenneys and Children's Place.

I stick to Wal-mart for play clothes and things I don't mind getting dirty.

Good luck to you. I think most of us with boys feel your pain!

Our stores exactly. Gap is more for their nicer stuff as it's the most expensive of the bunch.

My DS8 likes Kohl's because they carry Tony Hawk clothes. I like it there because of their sales. I've bought Hawk hoodies for $1.80, T-shirts for.90, jeans for 7, and Vans shoes for $12. :)
My DS9 loves Tony Hawk stuff from kohls we even have to buy the underwears!

My boys are happy with Kohl's, though my oldest thinks he needs abercrombie (these preteens are tough!).

Kohl's has some name brands (Levi's and Nike) as well as their own brands.

I have two six year old boys. We shop at Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, Children's Place, Talbots Kids, Dillards, Old Navy and Gap. I am a sale shopper and try to find good bargains.

I have 3 boys and 1 girl (oldest).. I know how difficult it is to get stuff. Girls has dresses and cute stuff coming out of the ying-yang, BUT boy stuff is soo hard to find. We shop Old Navy, Carters (has lots of "T" stuff), Gap, Kohl's and target when we get down to the US.

my fave new place is H&M!!!! they have the best kids clothes out there!!

we also like target and old navy. i wont shhop at GAP anymore. their quality for the gap kids store is very poor. baby gap was great, i dont know why theydont put the same attention on the older kids. old navy is the same company, same clothes, so ive stopped over paying for gap.

I remember when my boys were little, trying to find a nice outfit for Christmas pictures...the girls sections had all these cute red dresses, and I could barely find something in a "T" size without a truck, football, or dinosaur on it. :confused3

Christmas time is the worst. Almost everything for boys is plaid (not my favorite) and/or have the obligitory Scottie Dog on it.

We do the bulk of our shopping at Old Navy, Gap kids, and The Children’s Place. I also pick up things here and there at Kohl’s, Target, Sears, JC Pennies, the outlet mall (Oshkosh, Tommy Hilfiger). None of my boys really care that much about clothes.

My biggest gripe is that girls got the shaft in so many areas for so long that there are tons of specialty stuff geared to them—and I think that’s great—but now there is nothing for boys. Take Disney. There are gender neutral meals and princess meals. There are princess balloons, Tinkerbelle balloons, and balloons with Mickey AND Minnie. I could keep going on, but I’m OT. Girls have caught up with boys in all the ways they were behind and are now starting to pass them up; girls are more likely to graduate from college than boys. I think we are now hurting our boys. Maybe I just notice more because I’m the mom to ALL boys…? I’m off my soap box now.

Is there room on the soap box for me? 'Cause I'm with you!

We also do a lot of our shopping at the Osh Kosh factory store - it's actually the 1 store I find to be more geared toward boys than girls. Although I'm starting to get annoyed that EVERYTHING there needs to have the name across the chest. But not as many dinosaurs, so I can deal. :rotfl: Along with there, I go to Children's Place and Crazy 8 quite a bit too. And the Disney store. This summer my son has practically lived in his $4.99 (or less) character tees I picked up on sale...

As far as Disney, I agree 100%. I don't understand why it's perfectly OK to have CRT, Askerhaus, 1900 Park Faire, and something called "My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party" but everything else has to be gender neutral. And don't tell me the Pirate things are geared toward boys, because my son is only 4.5 and IMO the kids they're marketing the stuff to are not anywhere near old enough to see any of the POTC movies, (especially the last one) all of which are rated PG-13. Although I'll admit to being a huge fan myself! Not to mention that in the last movie they actually made Elizabeth Swann into a pirate to make sure they created a reason to market the pirate stuff to girls too. It's probably only a matter of time before they park Sally over by McQueen and Mater at Hollywood Studios. :headache:
Where's the "My Disney Boys Visit Infinity and Beyond" Breakfast or "My Disney Boys Lunch in Monstropolis"??

We're huge Disney fans now because my son still loves Mickey and the gang...but I can see us spending more time at US/IOA when he's a little older.

"My Disney Boys Visit Infinity and Beyond" Breakfast or "My Disney Boys Lunch in Monstropolis"...can we make requests to Disney for these kinds???

In life you can request anything...doesn't mean you're going to get it. ;)

But here's hoping...

Oh, and HELLO! Disney is cutting the gender neutral meals. LTT is going to the way side, so unless you are <4 and into Winnie the Pooh or a girl, nothing for boys at MK in the way of character meals at all!

It just bugs me. Especially, the balloon thing. You could argue that the balloons aren't even gender neutral.

Maybe we should start another thread?

We could start a new one, but from what I've seen, people will just tell you to send your son on a Pirate Cruise or go to Disney Quest. :rotfl: Or build a light saber. Because that's exactly what we need on the buses - more obtrusive weapons being waved around.
And to tell you the truth, my 4.5 year old hasn't seen any of the Star Wars Movies either, (or Pirates) so we're 0 for 2. Really 0 for 3 since I won't let him watch the Power Rangers either. I guess I shelter him too much...he needs more video games and violence in his life. Then he'd be able to enjoy the "boy" things at Disney. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

And I never even noticed the balloon thing until you brought it up...

Amen and amen! :thumbsup2

To each their own, but there is NO way I'm letting my boys watch POTC yet. My 5 year old boy is very sensitive and easily scared by scary faces. He'd have nightmares for sure. The youngest is just too young to be exposed to that kind of violence. We try to feed them the pirate stuff through toys and Peter Pan. That helps a little with them wanting to do pirate stuff at Disney.

Also agreed about the US/IOA one day. I imagine by the time both my boys can ride some real roller coasters (whatever age that is, I'm not sure), they'll probably be outgrowing the need to do Disney all the time. Of course, I'll be so sad not doing Disney all the time, but I do vacations for the whole family.

Hopefully, Disney will step it up.

Where do I clothes shop for my boys???

CONSIGNMENT!

I hit up the local Once Upon A Child and you should see some of the things I have walked out of there with. I bought my oldest son a pair of Nike shoes...$5. Have bought Tommy Hilfiger, Old Navy, Gap, I could go on and on. I can walk out of there spending $100 on clothes that bought straight out of the stores would cost me over $500.

The way my boys go through clothes, consignment is the way to go. The only time I buy brand new is when we go back to school shopping and when it's time for warmer clothes, because last years winter clothes NEVER make it to the next :lmao:

crazy boys :thumbsup2

I shop for DS12 at department stores. Nordstrom, Macy's and Dillard's, mostly. He still fits in Gymboree clothes but HATES if I buy anything there. ;) He is very tiny for his age.

We buy some things at Gap. We have one Talbot's Kids, but that is going out of business 8/23. He has outgrown Crew Cuts, but they have cute stuff for younger boys. He can still wear stuff from Hanna Andersson, too. I bought several pairs of shorts for him there this year. We have an Abercrombie for kids but I don't shop in there. :confused3
