moms of boys, clothing question?

My 9 year old DS just moved into a size 8. I buy his clothing mainly from Old Navy, Children's Place, and Target. Only thing about Children's Place is that their clothing runs very large. The size 8's are HUGE on him.

First off, thank you to everyone who took time to respond. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed the lack of stores geared towards boys. DS dutifully tags along when we go to Limited Too, or Justice, or worse yet Club Libby Lu. He likes the webkinz and the littlest pet shop stuff but after a while the girls are still checking stuff out or trying stuff on and he will ask me if we can go to a boys store next. I feel bad because there's really not anything equivalent for the boys

I have two little guys and I love to shop for them! You are right, there are not any boy-only stores like for the girls. I especially like Gymboree, Janie & Jack and Crazy 8. I also like Nautica, LL Bean, Baby Style, CWDkids, Hampton child and Mini boden. Macy's and Lord & Tyalor are always good for some sales on Ralph Lauren Polo and Kenneth Cole.

I shop online for lot for these since not all of them have stores in my immediate malls/area.

The things I put into bold print, does anyone have websites for them? I've never heard of them.

LL Bean, why didn't I think of that?? He'd look just like DH

We've been buying a lot of ds's things from Boden. They are a internet / mail order site from the UK - and yes they are pricey - but the clothes are the most amazing quality, thick soft cotton, cool appliques and their resale is amazing! I get`close to retail - if not over - after wearing it for a full season:woohoo:

I don't mind paying a little bit more if it will last and be able to be re-sold or passed down. website please? :flower3:

My kids (ds 10yo & dd 7yo) hate to shop and i often have to buy the item, bring it home, have them try it out, and keep, return, or exchange from there. I used to shop at gymboree when ds was younger, unfortunately, he's grown out of gymboree. I do purchase clothes for him from Gapkids, Old Navy, the Children's Place and more recently Pumpkin Patch. Absoultely love the things at Pumpkin Patch (for both boys & girls). Unfortunately it's quite pricey and i usually have to wait for a sale.

Never heard of Pumpkin Patch :confused3 I guess I am lucky, all three of my kids LOVE to shop, especially if we are shopping for them and even more so if we manage to leave the other two with Grandma and head out alone.

I shop for DS12 at department stores. Nordstrom, Macy's and Dillard's, mostly. He still fits in Gymboree clothes but HATES if I buy anything there. ;) He is very tiny for his age.

We buy some things at Gap. We have one Talbot's Kids, but that is going out of business 8/23. He has outgrown Crew Cuts, but they have cute stuff for younger boys. He can still wear stuff from Hanna Andersson, too. I bought several pairs of shorts for him there this year. We have an Abercrombie for kids but I don't shop in there. :confused3

Never heard of Crew Cuts, do you know of a website for them?

I have 3 boys (13,8,6) and they get most of their clothes at Kohl's. They have Tony Hawk (really nice looking stuff) and pretty good prices, too. DH and I just go nuts at their clearance racks, especially when the stuff is 70% off. With three boys, someone will eventually fit into it if it's a little big.
Watch out for those growth spurts, DS13 is in Men's 32w pants, med/lg shirts and size 11 shoes. Where do we go from here?? Oh, and my DD10 is in size 10 womens shoes and juniors 7. DS8 is in size 5 shoes, 12 pants/shirts.
I think I gave birth to giants.:rotfl:

My DS9 loves Tony Hawk stuff from kohls we even have to buy the underwears!

Why they need Tony Hawk undies, I don't know. But DS8 needs them. :lmao: Also Tony Hawk beanies. At the end of winter they went on clearance for about .90. Had to get one of each style.

We also buy clothes for him at Zumiez, Hot Topic, and Spencer's. But then again, I'm a bad parent.

DS is starting to really like those skinny jeans that the teens/skaters are wearing. But they are expensive! (At least to me). Wish I could find a good bargain on those.

i usually go to target, kohls, childrens place, or macys.
i also order online at www.cwdkids.com
they have really cute things for boys and girls, and you can get coordinated outfits for the kids :thumbsup2

My DS just moved out of the 5T size also. I have had a lot of luck finding clothes at Carters, Osh Kosh, Gap and Gymboree. We are lucky to live not too far from Osh Kosh and Carter's factory stores.
Old Navy and Children's Place's size 5 styles seem to look too old for my DS. He is only 4, but very tall for his age.

I didn't read through all the posts so I'm not sure if someone's already mentioned this or not. I love Crazy 8! They don't have one in my area but I buy online when they have sales, awesome prices! I'm also a big fan of Gymboree, Crazy 8 is owned by them I believe. My son is in 5T but Gymboree does have larger sizes so this may work for your boys. I also really like Janie and Jack but usually shop online when they have sales and use coupon/promo codes to save additional money. They have just expanded their sizes and I believe go up to size 8 now.

I know these stores are a bit more pricey then say Target or Walmart but I take serious advantage of sales. I find that shopping online actually saves me more money since I can google and find promo/coupon codes for additional savings. Plus, when my son has outgrown them, I turn around and sell them on ebay. I pretty much make what I spend, so it's cost me almost nothing! I have tried selling items I bought at Target, Walmart etc and they just don't bring in as much money as the more expensive name brands. Works great for me!

And of course, the Disney store. Love those sales! :thumbsup2
