Mom's Last Trip to Disney == Sad Story

a mother leaves a place that can never be filled. The people left behind are the ones who suffer most. Your mom, on the other hand, must have chosen this moment to depart - quietly, in her favorite place, surrounded by people she loved - (I, for one, could not ask for more.) Please be comforted by the knowledge that you gave her that precious gift in time.

Please accept my sympathies over your loss. It is certainly a sad time, but your story is beautiful. Having loved Disney as much as she did, it seems sort of comforting knowing she died feeling happy in one of her favourite places to visit. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry that your mom passed away......but I know that no more pain is the greatest gift.....also knowing how much your family loves Disney.....yes what a place to enjoy ones last moments......thank you so much for sharing this with us.......HUGS to you and your family

I am so very sorry about your Mom's passing.:( :( :( I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Kudos to the GF staff for helping you in this difficult time.((((HUGS))))

First, my condolences. I am sure this is a very difficult time for you and I wish your family the best.

You do need to send your letter directly to WDW. So many posts here are about complaints that people have with service and CM's. You're unfortunate circumstance shows that Disney can step up to the plate and be very caring and understanding when it truly is a dire situation.

I'm sure that Disney will always be a special place for your family as your mother will be watching over you there. Cant get any better pixie dust than that. It is wonderful that you were able to give her that last great family experience.

The other people posting have described your story as sad and beautiful. As a nurse who has worked with those who are dying for years, I must share my feelings as well.

I found your story both beautiful and sad, as I smiled through my tears. I have to say that your story is focusing on the positive and bravo to you for that. In a class once, we had to describe the scene of our death - where we would be, who would be with us, the time of day. I don't think that there could have been a more beautiful death than your mother's. Your mother was in a place she loved with people she loved. I wish that I had the opportunity to experience more deaths that were so positive!

I do believe your mother knew she was dying as you wrote in your story, I have often believed that about patients.

I am so sorry for your loss, it is never easy. It is very refreshing to read about what could be a negative experience written in such a positive light.

I hope that WDW continues to present you with happy memories of your mother each time you visit! Not many people could make a death out to be happy.

poohpaul,

What a wonderful child your sweet Mom raised. In your grief you and she have given us all yet another reason to stop and remember what is truly important. My family and I will pray that you will always be comforted by loving memories, especially those in the most Magical Place on Earth.

You've got to be one of the best "children" walking the face of this earth.. Your Mom was so blessed to have you..

I can't see through the tears to type anymore...

You gave your mother a wonderful gift. My own mother died suddenly and unexpectedly in October (she was only 54). We had been excitedly planning our trip to Disney. I just got home from this trip we had been looking forward to together. It was also my first mother's day without her in my life. I wish so much we had been able to have this last trip together. I still made the trip and have to say it helped me to have something to look forward to. I guess I do feel like she was with me in a way.

I will pray for you and your family. I'm glad you had real life angels around you during this difficult time. I'm proud that you want to recognize these special individuals. Your mother would also be proud.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, and so very happy that the CM's at GF helped you so much.

I'm sure the first thing you're mom did when she got to Heaven was to give Walt a great big hug! And he deserves it for the joy he has brought to millions. It's special people like them who put the magic in this world!

I am so sorry for your loss. Your story is very touching. God bless you and your family. May your memories live on forever.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss! But, I believe your mom was very happy and right where she wanted to be, and with the people she loved!! Take care!

I cannot say anything other than my thoughts are with you. What a sad story. I am really glad that the cm's did everything within their power to lessen the trauma as much as they were able.

I am so sorry about your loss. Sometimes there are just no words. This is one of those times. God Bless your family.

I couln't make it through reading this thread yesterday. I lost my mom last September, after a 3 week hospital stay. I know how difficult it is, but know that it it tempered by the fact that the suffering is over.

My family was in the World 2 weeks ago. The only difficult part for me wa sknowing that if mom were aroiund, she never would have been able to make the trip, as she could not tolerate heat or the sun anymore.

Good luck to you & I hope you treasure the good memories from your life w/mom.

I'm sitting here bawling with tears rolling down my face. :( What a sad story. If you are going to go, at least let it be in a place you love. CM's really did come through for your family in a time of need.

My prayers to your family.

WOW.

Please let me add my condolences to all those who posted before me. I am truly truly sorry for your loss. It is obvious from your extraordinary words that you two had a bond that was truly amazing. How wonderful she was able to stay so happy right to the end of her wonderful life.

Secondly, PLEASE send a copy of this letter to WDW. I sent a letter to them about a wonderful CM who did something quite nice for my DS. Nowhere NEAR the scope of the CMs that really stepped up and helped you and your family through your loss. But, my point is, that WDW actually CALLED me to thank me for my letter, and to assure me that it would be brought the CM's attention, and her manager. Now, if this young lady got a pat on the back for replacing a damaged Pin Lanyard, the folks at the GF that stepped up for you, surely deserve the same!!!

Again, my deepest condolences for your loss.

Debbie

My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.........
