Mommy...Why does Crush talk like you? Final thoughts and summary 10/15

Chapter 3: POOL Time and Everyone gets a nap....or do they?

After Lunch, the kids reminded us that we had PROMISED that they could go in the pool. Well, I don’t make promises I can’t keep, so we got out the swimsuits (from the LIME GREEN carry-on), got suited up, and headed down to the pool.

First we tried to find somewhere to put our stuff.....wasn’t gonna happen. We took three laps of the pool looking for an empty chair. Towels EVERYWHERE on lounge chairs. Now, I don’t mind taking up ONE chair for a family with pool stuff. It’s nice to have your stuff off of the ground when you get out of the pool. It stays dry(er) and clean(er)....but there were obviously areas of “one person, one chair” set ups, and to me, that’s rude and selfish. If you’re not USING the chair for anything other than a stuff-holder, use one chair for your entire family. Finally one twenty-something girl decided to go back to her room, and we snagged a lounger. It was all we needed, so we were happy.

In fact, as we picked up our stuff, a lady asked us if we were leaving, and we said YEP. She commented on us only having one lounge chair, but “oh well, it’ll do”. *Sigh* I really wish I had taken pics of the lounge chairs, because, I swear, we were in the pool over an hour, and not a single towel had moved....Meanwhile, people were all doing laps with their stuff....:sad2:

Anyway, I digress....

While we had been doing our laps, we had grabbed towels. But we couldn’t find the life vests. When we stayed at AKL, they just had them in a big bin that you could rummage through and grab out of....apparently, WL had some probems with people taking life vests and keeping them for the week in their rooms, so there weren’t enough to go around, so they were signing them out at the bar. We decided this wasn’t worth the hassle....also we only had our room keys with us, and it was unclear as to whether or not they wanted a deposit.

Now, our kids can swim OK...well almost swim would probably be putting it better. They can keep their heads above the water USUALLY and are fine as long as they are in water that is only slightly above their heads. Brianna can float on her back, too. This is why we weren’t too worried about life vests. All the kids wanted to do was to go down the slide and play in the kiddie pool. However...the lack of life vests would come back to bite us later in the trip......:scared:

So, the kids ran off to the slide, and HHBG and I went into the water at the base of the slide. There was also a life guard standing right there at the base. Apparently, she didn’t agree with the policy to sit across the 3-foot-deep pool and wait for a kid or adult to have problems, she wanted to be right there. This made me feel better about the no life vests decision. Thank you, anonymous life guard. :lovestruc

The kids went down the slide about 3 million times....give or take. They were coming down together, which was cute but required both HHBG and I to be there to catch them. Finally, at one point, only Spencer came down....as I stood there waiting for Brianna, a lady poked me and said “Is that your daughter??” :scared:

Brianna was standing at the side of the pool, sobbing. Uh oh. :scared1:

I rushed over and asked her what was wrong. She showed me her knee. It was bleeding from a small scrape. Apparently, she had decided NOT to listen to one of my 3 billion admonitions to “WALK, DON’T RUN”, and had slipped going up to the slide. The life guard came over and gave her a band-aid, and we decided we were done with pool time for the day.

CUE TANTRUMS :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (these are not laughing smilies)

We led the tantruming children back to the room, the refrain of “I WASN’T FINISHED! I DON”T WANNA GO BACK! IT’S NOT FAIR! WAAAAAHHH” echoing behind us.

We finally got back to the room and saw that ME had dropped off our bags while we were in the pool. HHBG immediately hopped into the shower to wash off the chlorine. After he got out, I sprayed off the kids, got out their dinner outfits, told HHBG to get them dressed, and hopped into the shower myself.

This is what greeted me when I came out of my shower:

Since Brianna was on my spot, and the top bunk wasn’t very comfortable, I took “nap time”, and unpacked instead.

Soon it was time for some Dinner. :cool1:

Coming soon: Did we ever ask for that Ketchup??

Sounds like some good pool time!! Too bad about the chair situation - it is so sad that some people think it is their right to claim so much space. to B for the scraped knee. With the looks of how everyone zonked out after you got back to the room, it was a good decision to leave the pool when you did. Sorry mama didn't get a nap too :headache: .

You are doing a great job of bringing us along on the trip. Love all the pictures :thumbsup2 .

:thumbsup2

Your family loves them some naps. I miss taking naps. I should start again.

Too bad you didn't get pool pics. Pool is wicked cool at WL.

have fun. (yuk) :scared:

Turns out, she banged up her gums pretty well, but looks like no permanent tooth damage. But, she wants us to come back in 6 weeks to check again - yikes.

And of course, I got to go back later that day, for ds' regular checkup. 2 cavities...we'll be spending lots of time at the dentist office...

One advantage of going in January - it was cold enough that there was no shortage of lounge chairs!!! Of course, you probably had better pool weather. But, yeah, that's pretty rude to hog the lounge chairs like that when no one is using them...

Definitely looks like those naps were needed. :)

Oh, and I had noticed the sleeping-with-shoes thing earlier, too. I just can't sleep with my shoes on...

It really does annoy me the whole chair hogging with towels thing, if you're there and using the chairs fair enough but if you're not there or aren't returning within about 30 mins take the towels off  OK vent over :rotfl:

Sounds like your kids were having a great time on the slide, pity about B falling over though and I love your use of the :rotfl2: smilie

How cute do they all look fast asleep :goodvibes

Just a little favour is it possible for you to edit your title when you've done an update please :flower3:

Thanks! I wish I were more witty or downright funny like some of the other TRs I read, but I'm not, so I just tell it like it is. :)

Dude, all HHBg DID this trip was nap. i swear. He makes Buzz seem like he was awake all the time in DL....

I have to say, the pics of all of them sleeping is pretty cute...

Yeah. They're cuties. :cutie: Obviously a recessive gene.....:rolleyes1

Ouch. Sorry. :( Spencer sucks his thumb and has screwed his jaw up pretty well, so we are already anticipating the thousands of dollars in orthodontic work for him.

They were actually told to take the shoes OFF to sleep in, but I didn't want to wake them up after the fact. :confused3

Great report so far.
Don't you just hate when you have to yell and slap your kids in public then you look like such a bad mommy. we've all been there.:goodvibes
Waiting to read the rest!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm loving your tr so far. Unfortunately, I came in on the tail end of your ptr, so I'm glad to be here early.

Your arrival day was a busy one! So sorry that Briana scraped her knee.

Can't wait to read more popcorn::

Oh and I noticed you're from Yonkers. I'm going to look at some apartments and houses in Yonkers tomorrow. I hope the agent is decent.

Ouch. Sorry. :( Spencer sucks his thumb and has screwed his jaw up pretty well, so we are already anticipating the thousands of dollars in orthodontic work for him.

Ds used a pacifier until he was about 4 (iirc) but finally gave it up - I'd been starting to see his teeth affected, but fortunately, they seem to have gotten over it by now. Otoh, one of his baby teeth never came in (one canine), so that may screw things up eventually.

They were actually told to take the shoes OFF to sleep in, but I didn't want to wake them up after the fact. :confused3

Lol...I can see mine doing that!

I know. My son can't remember to take his own homework out of his backpack, but he remembers things I said MONTHS ago, when they benefit him....selective memory...they get it from their father. :rolleyes1

And that is SOOO my kids! Everyone always told me that they wouldn't remember stuff, and didn't want to believe me that they would! Especially when it comes to stuff that would benefit them...

camelotcats- Great TR! Please tell me how you post those hot links.. I love that! I never quite figured that out yet and love when they are in tr!

First thing first, your kids are adorable & your TR is really giving me an idea of how my trips will end up w/ my children! FUN FUN FUN :scared1:
Your trip sounds like it got off to a wonderful start.. :lmao: I had a "cab" driver like that.. IT WAS MY SISTER... I wanted to kill her... All I kept on thinking was please get us to the airport safe and sound! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pics are hysterical too... My DH would be the same way SLEEPING while Mommy does everything!! :rolleyes1

Cant wait to read more...

Actually I did get a rest...kind of...but you'll have to wait until Monday's trippie to hear about it.....

Hi and Welcome!!

Yeah, I feel like I just have a sign on me that reads "my kids are miserable becaude I am the worst mother in the world" sometimes.

Hmmm.....I forsee a tee-shirt.....:scratchin:

aww cute! haha. That looks like us when we drove down to the south-ish of france in a day (took about 11 hours) when we got there we just crashed on the sofa!! :rotfl:

You DROVE to the south of France!?! From Where? (I forgot to read if you had your location in your profile). We took the EuroStar leaving at 7am to Paris from London while REALLY hungover last July....then walked all over Paris. It was a rough day....I believe I fell asleep still clothed once we got back to the hotel....

Enjoy your tour. Try to stick to the nice parts. There are some BAD parts here....just like everywhere around the NYMetro area, I guess. Greystone and Yonkers train stations are nice.

DH plays on Hell Scream when he pays and his own private server most of the time.

Sorry!!!! I have a WoW addict as well.... I know how it feels.

Bleh. I'm sorry. Unfortunately, i knew about the addiction when I married HHBG....it was EverQuest then. I used to bug the guy geeks who came in when I was working with being able to speak EverQuest, but I didn't play.

Ds used a pacifier until he was about 4 (iirc) but finally gave it up - I'd been starting to see his teeth affected, but fortunately, they seem to have gotten over it by now. Otoh, one of his baby teeth never came in (one canine), so that may screw things up eventually.

Everyone said last year that the kdis were too young for WDW and would forget everything....they were QUOTING things to me this trip. :confused3

Hi and Welcome!!

For the Hotlinks, if you look on the top right of a post, you will see a number. If you click on it, it will open a window with that post in it. I copy and paste the URL and add it just like any other link.

I have to go back and add "next chapter" links to the bottom of my chapters eventually when I get the time....

I hope your sister was OK!!

The trip was good, but I think it would have ben better if we hadn't been so behind on sleep from the very beginning....also, our light day got cancelled, so we went hard all week, so we never caught up....

Yeah...all HHBG seemed to do was sleep.....

I'll probably write the next installment while I watch Beauty and the Geek tonight....

Thanks. I'm looking at a couple of places near the Scarsdale border and on Brandt Terrace. Hopefully, those areas are not scary.

But you're right, that is true of every town/neighborhood in the NYMetro area.

Sorry!!!! I have a WoW addict as well.... I know how it feels.

Add me to that list... it just started a few months ago, but he's on it from the time he gets home from work until he falls asleep at the computer. That's why I can't get him to write the next update for our trippie. Guess we'll have to skip his train tour.... :confused3

Sorry that your vacation wasn't very relaxing, but I usually feel like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation when I return from WDW. Hopefully you can catch up now that the kiddos are back at school, right?

Gotta watch the WINGS play tonight at 10pm too!!!!
