Mom & Son-One More Time w/Dad! 11 days of DxDDP-10/21, Grand Finale, FF Chef's Table!

Since I can now say that we are going to WDW later this month, I figured I would countdown the days with a few food pics from previous trips ...

This is DS in 2009 with a favorite snack ...

23 days! :cool1:

Ok, so here is today's high and low on the job situation. Got a call late this morning from the staffing agency that I got the job and when could I start. I said "so, they are Ok with vacation then?" and was told that she would tell them that part when she called back to say I could start tomorrow. Good news, right?

Well, then about an hour ago I got a call saying that they don't want me to start til after vacation. :sad1: On the one hand, it doesn't bother me to have the next couple of weeks off but on the other, there is always the chance that they could find someone else. :scared: So in a way, I am still waiting.

I can't let it stress me. What will be will be. I refuse to have any regrets about this trip. If the job isn't waiting for me when I get back, then it wasn't meant to be.

First, congratulations!!:cheer2:

Second, they likely won't try to find someone else but you could ask for an offer letter. Always makes me feel better! :goodvibes

It would make me feel better, too but since this is thru a staffing agency, there will be no such letter. I have just have to keep the faith & pixie dust!

Yay for your trip approaching! :thumbsup2

Hope everything settles for you job-wise. Must be a little nerve-racking.

Congratulations on the job offer! As much as it may make you nervous about the risk of starting after vacation - at least it is confirmation that they are willing to wait for you. Otherwise I would think that they would have said yeahhhh we'll get back to you about that... :confused3 I think it's all good and I am here with you counting down to your trip. :goodvibes (At least I'm here until day 18 then I have to head out! :rotfl:

It seems our sons have yet another thing in common.

Except mine apparently likes to eat his Mickey ice cream bars two at a time! :lmao: It's amazing to me how skinny the kid is, the way he can put away the food. Ahhh...if only I were 16 again. :cloud9: :rotfl:

Can't wait to see what you have in store for us today...Day 22! :cool1:

Oh, and congrats on the job offer! I have a good feeling that things will turn out just fine. :thumbsup2

Welcome! Yes, it is!

That's what DH said, too. Course I can't admit that he could be right! :upsidedow

Mine certainly would if I would let him!

In addition to the countdown, I am sneaking in a change. I just switched DH and my breakfast from CRT to Akerhaus. We have never been there so it will be another restaurant I can cross off my list. We have never really enjoyed the food at any meal at CRT so this makes sense to me.

Question, our reservation is ata 8:15. Will we be allowed in the International Gateway? I imagine that we would be on a list with the other ADRs, no?

From what I now understand, this is how it works. However, because I wasnt totally sure a while back I change our ADR to lunch!

Meanwhile, I have had to make a change to the (laminated) plan! Not my fault though, as Dine with Shamu has changed times grrrrrrrr spoiling my laminate.

I could never laminate! I am too fickle! :upsidedow

Ok, so I really need to stop. This morning I changed our CRT breakfast to Akerhaus. Tonight I decided that if I am going to eat at Le Cellier, I would rather that it is for dinner. So, I was about to get an early-ish dinner on the 26th (yes, our Dessert Party night but again, we don't really do for the desserts). Thus cancelled Kouzzina.

So now where to go on our first day in the Parks since I am cancelling the Le Cellier lunch? Rose & Crown. That was our first meal on property for our Christmas trip and I wanted to repeat that experience.

That leaves our lunch on 9/1. Right now I have booked Les Chefs as it is a favorite of DS's. But he is Ok with not eating there this trip so I may end up changing it to something else. Maybe Tutto Italia? Maybe Coral Reef (yes, sub-par food but I do like the fish!). Maybe Mama Melroses because we had such a good meal there last year and I cancelled it for HBD.

So, everyone ... thoughts, suggestions? Where should we eat lunch on 9/1? I am pretty open to just about any where, in a Park or not. Dinner will be at Flying Fish before our Illuminations Cruise.

Oh my! So many great choices. I'm a Chefs de France lover but only for their lunch menu so I'm partial to that. Silly question here.. are you changing your lunch choice because you don't want to have French food with a fish chaser for dinner?? :rotfl: I'm no help with this one since I like all the options with my order of choice being:
1. Chefs de France
2. Mama Melroses
3. Tutto Italia
4. Coral Reef - I agree about the mediocre food but love the tank. I rank it last because the fish tank doesn't make up for overpriced subpar food. ;)

I saw your CRT change to Akershus and I have to say that food wise - Akershus is the clear winner for me. I love the cheesey potatoes and of course the Mickey waffles. :thumbsup2

I think I am just looking for something different. I agree on Chefs for lunch but I am just itching to find something new. Thought about Nine Dragons but it is "just chinese food". Thought about going back to 50's but DH really doesn't like it there. Thought about just picking a hotel we have never been to and eating there but I don't want to take a chance of having a sub-par meal.

It's funny I want to eat everywhere and have tried so hard to fit everything in and now I can't make up my mind where I want to eat one little lunch! :upsidedow I am hopeless ....

And I thought you would approve of our breakfast change! :goodvibes

I am gonna put in my little opinion here. I vote for Maya Grill. I know it wasn't on your list. I have eaten there a few times and it is never full and the food is pretty good. My kids love it as does my DH. This time we are going and my Florida family is joining us and they also like it and have been there before. It may not be blow you away awesome food but it is good and tasty, at least to me and my family. Just my thought. Hope you can get your choice and that it is good when you get there.

I haven't been to Tutto since 2010 (ignoring my recent stop at Gusto for a great new Tutto Italia dessert) or Mama Melrose since 2004 (so long ago!). So I don't have relevant firsthand experience with these restaurants.

We enjoyed our Les Chefs dinner very much in May, while Coral Reef has disappointed me twice for lunch (in 2010 and 2011).

For me, Coral Reef would be my choice to rule out - you can see the fish from inside the pavilion without using a meal credit there. Mama Melrose could be a good choice since you liked it before, and it's been getting even better reviews since the menu was updated. Tutto's post-refurbishment reviews have been less consistent, but I see items I think I would like on the menu (but don't want to pay OOP for, meaning they'd be a good value on the DxDP).

Good luck with the decision! :goodvibes
