Mom needs a reclining chair for sleeping

We have booked a trip in August and are bringing my parents along However, I am concerned about my mother sleeping comfortably. Due to some medical issues she cannot sleep lying flat. She usually sleeps in a reclining chair at home and sleeps well this way. She can usually figure something out if we are away for a night or two, but this upcoming trip will be for 10 days and I want her to be able to sleep well. I see on this board that Caremedical rents lift chairs (which is like what she has at home). Does anyone have any experience renting one of these? How do you think one would fit in a room at POR? She and my dad will have their own room, so they are willing to move the table and chairs around if needed. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t have experience renting one, but do know that Care does rent them, as you already found. A number of people have asked about renting one, but we have not had lots of feedback on how it worked out.

If they find the room is too cramped with the recliner in it, they can ask Housekeeping to remove the table and chairs. With them removed, there will be plenty of room, although it still may be OK even without the table and chairs moved.

And, don’t be worried, she won’t be the first person who has had this situation. The resort will know how to deal with it.

I know BLT, AKV and most of OKW 1 and 2br have sleep chairs, and I know they go all the way flat (which I assume would not work) but I never checked for any intermediate positions. You might want to post on the DVC Misc boards about these to see if anyone has more info if that is a possibility for you.
