Get used to seeing this more and more, I have had some experiences at work that are just unreal. The only saving grace is tht some of the kids start to "think" on their own and try and keep their parents from being involved when they shouldn't be. Even on the DIS (Gasp, say it ain't so!!) you can see some of the comments that would make me believe that when no one is watching, they will go into hover mode!
When raising DS and DD, I would catch myself and EX starting to do the same thing and just back away. I figured that if they want my advice I'll give it. but a lot of times the only way to learn is through mistakes! (hopefully MINOR ones) (I.E. ditching work to go to the beach with friends etc.)

So how do you guys feel about an underage employee having mom call-in sick for them? I remember vivdly my parents NOT ever doing that for me, but when I was a manager at Kmart at 17 I remember parents calling ALL the time.

How about this one...
When my DS was in 3rd grade at the open house the teacher had her mom with her. The mom was sitting at the teacher's desk. Teacher introduced her mom to all. She said it was her first year teaching and she wanted her mom there for support! The mom had to tell her what to talk about.. mom even answered questions from parents.
That teacher did not last long.
One of my coworkers does the same thing for her daughter. She filled out all of her college applications, financial aid stuff, scholarship applications...I wonder how she plans on taking the entrance exam for her??![]()
Ok...the girl at my work has an 18 year old and she fills out applications for him and puts her cell number for the contact. When they call for him she says he's not in, but she'll have him call them back.

Even though my assistants at my dance studio are volunteers & not employees it annoys me that they can not call me to tell me they will not be there or will be late. There are only a few that this applies to, but get on the phone instead of having mommy do it for you.So how do you guys feel about an underage employee having mom call-in sick for them? I think I would have shot my mom. How embarrassing!!!First job I ever had my mom came in ( with curlers in her hair ) and informed my manager that it was 5 minutes passed 9 and she wasn't waiting in the car all night on a saturday night. Needless to say I was " let go " the next day.![]()
