Mom and Dad's Dream Trip-34 Yrs in Making-Jun08 SOUVIE PICS PG 51 NEXT TRIP!!???!!!!?

Happy anniversary Jen!
Enjoy your plans :)

Thanks Annette--we have had a wonderful time celebrating!!!

Happy Anniversary guys!! And great update btw. Can't wait to read more, obviously.

Thanks so much Lisa!! I am glad you enjoyed the update--there will be another one first thing tomorrow morning!!! Sundays are always too busy, but Monday morning is one of my best lazy mornings around here where I don't have too much that I have to do. Stay tuned!!!

Good Morning one and all---I hope everyone had a great weekend!!! We spent ours together just the three of us!!! On Saturday we spent the whole day at the library and out shopping--mainly for Tom for some new dress pants, shirts, etc. for work. Then Megan "took us out" for our Anniversary!!! She was so upset that Tom and I had gone on a date the weekend before without her for our anniversary, so we told her that we would go out as a family to celebrate. She was so excited about celebrating it together--she said she would take us out to eat---at one of her favorite restaurants (and ours too!) Tom even gave her the money so she could "pay" for it herself. She was so excited and proud--she was too cute!!! On Sunday, we stayed in for the most part and played here. Megan went through the fleet of vehicles and bikes she has--she took turns riding them around our cul-de-sac. The best is watching her on her bike with training wheels--her helmet is so much bigger than her head, it is very humorous!! We also enjoyed watching her drive her Princess motorized vehicle she got from my uncle at Christmas around the street. It is a convertible of course--and she put Buddy and Potato in the passenger seat, donned her sunglasses, and away they all went touring up and down our street. She would come back to our driveway to "refuel" at the gas pump, and off she would go again!! It was a fabulous way to spend a Sunday afternoon! That night, Tom surprised me by saying that he was taking us out to eat that night at our favorite local Chinese restaurant (one of the top 100 in the country) as a special treat for all that I do to take care of him, Megan, and the house. It was a great surprise! We had a fabulous weekend!!!

BUT--BACK TO THE TR!!! DAY 7--We head to DHS--our first time there since they changed the name!!!

Well, after our early morning and full day the day before, the only one up for the rope drop with us this morning was Kristi, so we all headed out and got there in plenty of time for the big drop and the pre-show. Once through the ropes, we headed towards RnRR and ToT---Tom went and got FP for Kris and I for ToT as we headed right over to ride RnRR via stand-by---only a 5-10 minute wait. The only problem, was that right as we were getting up into the row queue, they had a problem with the ride, and they spent at least 5-10 minutes fixing it. Once fixed, we loaded up and off we went. The funniest part was that this was K's first time on it, and since we went through the queue so fast, she didn't happen to see how quickly the car takes off--and I just so happened to forget to mention it!! ;) ;) So when we were sitting there waiting to "take off," I was just sitting there chuckling to myself because I knew it was going to COMPLETELY take her by surprise---AND BOY DID IT EVER!!! I wish I could have somehow videoed her reaction for you all--the scream/laugh/squeal combo was SO MUCH fun!!! It made me laugh throughout the entire ride!!! What a great ride---we spent a large part of it screaming the words to the great Aerosmith songs as we went!! So obnoxious, but so much fun!! I wish Tom could handle the inversions and corkscrews so he could enjoy this ride, but alas, it would make him WAY too sick!! So after we rode that fabulous ride, with FP in hand for ToT, we headed back towards VofLM for Megan's sake. We had no wait--basically walked right into the next showing of Mermaid. Megan enjoyed this as always---loves the Under the Sea part!!! When we walked out of Mermaid, Tom made a beeline straight over to TSM to grab FP for all of us for that for later, then joined us as we were walking right into the next Playhouse Disney show---it was great how we were just walking right out of one thing, and right into the next!!! We were just about the VERY last people allowed in, but we made it!! LOVE how they have changed this show!! Megan couldn't keep her eyes off of it! She had so much fun!! Here's some pics---mind you we were in the very back!

We then decided to head over to the Great Movie ride--Megan remembering it from November, informed us that she did NOT want to ride it, so we opted to do a Child Swap on this one--such a long one to swap on, but we had to do what was best for Megs!! This was only like a 5 min wait--right before we were to go on the ride, we got a call from Mike--he and the boys were just entering the park (Maddie stayed back with Mom and Dad)--we decided to try to meet up after our ride. First K and I went on the ride, and then when we were done, I rode again with Tom. Here was a first though--I never knew that there was two action scenes--the western bank robbery was new to all of us!! So we did enjoy seeing something actually new on this ride. That was fun! Once we finished with BOTH rides, we decided that since it was just after 11am, it might be a good time to stop for lunch to avoid the crowds, and it would give us a meeting spot for Mike and the boys. Since we were leaving the GMR, and the Commissary is literally RIGHT THERE, I said, "Hey guys, let's just hop in here! It is empty, and we can eat quickly!" Sounded like a good idea to me, but Megan remembered where we had lunch in Nov--Pizza Planet--and said, "No, I want to go to Pizza Planet!" Tom and Kris thought pizza sounded good, so we headed over there for the princess. I walked past the commissary--noticing how EMPTY it was--Oh well, RIGHT??!?!?!??!?! Well, needless to say, as soon as we walked into Pizza Planet, I knew we should have NEVER passed that blessed empty commissary!! RIGHT before we walked in, a school group with literally 200 people in it (trust me, I counted) got in before us!!! Tom had already taken off with Megan to get a table, so he did not realize how bad it was, but Kristi and I could NOT believe the line that was before us---talk about wall-to-wall people!!! I SO wanted to abort our mission, but when I called Tom on the phone to tell him about the wait just to get through the ordering line, he informed me that Megan was fixed and set on eating there---knowing that leaving would completely cause her to meltdown and lose all sense of reason, we all said that we would just suck it up and stay there. What we do for the love of our beautiful princess!!! Our wait to order and get our food was just over 40 minutes LONG!!! THAT WAS OUR LONGEST WAIT OF THE ENTIRE TRIP--AND IT WASN'T EVEN FOR A RIDE!!!! This was the tragic turn I spoke of in the last update!! TRAGIC, TRAGIC, TRAGIC!!! At least the pizza and desserts were good!!! While we were eating, Tom and Kristi just kept looking over at me, and they would say, "Guess we should have listened to you and stayed at the commissary?!?!" Then we would all just smile and laugh--at least we could still laugh about it! We had found out that Mike and the boys were enjoying their rides, so we weren't going to wait up for them. While we were waiting for our food, our FP master also ran over and got some FP for Star Tours for us. WHAT A GUY!!!

Once we were full of pizza, we headed out over to experience TSM for the first time!!! We were all so excited---especially MEGAN!!!

Here's our little "monkey" on Daddy's shoulders underneath a chain of monkeys!!! She loved them--so wanted to take that home with her!

The only "bad part" of having FP for this ride is missing out on all the wonderful things to see in the waiting queue---we only caught glimpses here and there! Here's Megs with her beloved 3D glasses ready to hop on!

077-2.jpg

Once again, Megan hopped in with Kristi, and Tom and I were left to challenge each other!! I wish they had a see-through spot in the vehicle so you can at least chat with those behind you--when you are separated from your kiddies!! We SO loved this ride!!! I especially LOVE it because for the first time in our history---I BEAT TOM!!!! 97,000 to 84,000!!! (Mind you it was our first time through, but I BEAT HIM, I BEAT HIM, I BEAT HIM!!!!) Of course I had to rub that in JUST a wee bit!!! He just kept laughing at my enthusiasm to beating him! As we left, we got four more FP for another go round later!! Then Kris and I decided we would head up and use our ToT FP---Tom sat out so he would not get sick, but BOY DID WE HAVE FUN!!! What a great ride!! We were right up in the front row--and we had a blast!! We both dug our nails into each other's arms though, but so much fun!!

After we rode ToT, we convened to talk about what we wanted to do next. It was BLAZING hot by now, and I mean RIDICULOUSLY BLAZING HOT!!! We had thought about catching the next Beauty and the Beast show, but Megan didn't even want to see it, and the thought of sitting on those metal bleachers, was NOT appealing to all of us melting in the heat. Our other ideas---Indiana Jones and Backlot Tour, did not sound ANY better either. I knew that I was done, but didn't want to leave on my account. But I think everyone else was done too, because everyone quickly jumped on the idea to head back to the hotel. I don't know how hot it actually was, but we were all sweltering HOT!!! So we went back and napped!! I don't know why we didn't go swimming--I think Megs probably fell asleep in the bus, so we just napped it out! That felt so good!!! The A/C was heavenly!!!!!!!!

In our next update, when will we ever return to DHS???? Who will we finally meet up with that day??? Who is that arriving in Endor???? What.....tragedy strikes again??? TWICE in one day??? WHO is the mystery guest on ToT???? Will K and I EVER leave DHS????

Oh so much more in store!!! Just sit tight and stay tuned..............more to come soon!!!!!

Great update. I am so excited to ride Toy Story Mania!! Have you heard that they are making a Toy Story 3 movie?? It's going to be about the toys when Andy leaves for college. I read about it on the internet, I can't remember when they said it was coming out but I am still excited for it.

Megs is too cute. I love how you do her hair and outfits, she looks cute as a button! :goodvibes

I have heard about TS3--I think it is supposed to come out Summer 2010--but can't remember where I read that!! I could be wrong!!! We are all so excited, but hope Megs still loves Toy Story when it comes out--we will go regardless though!!

You are too sweet--we think she is a cutie naturally!! She and I love getting her ready--she LOVES having things "match!" Naturally a little OCD! Oh well--she always looks cute though!

Sounds like another great day for your family! Congrats on beating Tom on TSMM, way to go! I always have to really savor beating DH at anything because it doesn't happen very often. (Which is okay, because I don't think his ego would handle it well if it happened all the time.)

I don't want your trip to end, you've taught me so much! Has Megan worked on Tom enough yet that you can plan another trip? January is supposed to be nice...:rolleyes1

I also read that they are re-releasing the first two Toy Story movies in 3D, which seems neat.
She is extremely cute! :cutie:

Yeay! A Monday morning update!!! :yay:

Even though you left midday, you still got a lot done beforehand! Don't you just love Toy Story Mania? That's a shame about Pizza Planet! I have no patience when it comes to waiting so I would have died!!!

Your cliffhangers have me intrigued, Jen! :goodvibes

I was so pumped about beating Tom--I wish I would have tried to take a picture of it to savor for all time, but hey, it's not like I am going to forget it anytime soon!! :goodvibes

I don't want the trip to end either---I am glad that we have been able to help you out somehow!! Megan keeps asking me each day still, and I just keep reminding her to ask Daddy. He hasn't bitten yet--which is torturing us!!! I would LOVE to go in January, but we probably wouldn't be able to due to Tom's work demands--can't usually take any vaca Jan-May because of the demands of the year-end close reports---oh the life of an accountant's wife!!! That is when I become a year-end widow!!! I would love another jaunt this year, but that seems unlikely---so much going on, but you never know!

Wouldn't that be fun to see them in 3D--I so LOVE both of those movies---classics for sure! Thanks for the compliments on Megan!!! Tom was just saying last night how he found himself just staring at her yesterday while she was playing on her bike/in her car--still can't believe how beautiful she is, and that she is ours!!! We know we are in for a world of hurt when she gets older and the boys start calling!!! Tom won't be able to handle that at all!!!

That was the Thursday that we were there---June 12th---it was so HOT that day!!! Do you remember that??? I was SO hot I couldn't go on ANYMORE!!! I usually don't get done for, but that day did me in for sure!!! We couldn't complain though, because we had seen most of what we wanted to see at that point. Everything else was just icing on the cake for the rest of the day!!

I am glad that I have intrigued you with the cliffhangers---I hope the tales don't disappoint you!!!!!

Was it really??? That was our second day at DHS -- yes, I do remember how hot it was -- remember the picture of Connor looking miserably hot with his frozen lemonade? That was on Thursday! We must have missed each other all day! :(

Fantastic Jen! Waiting with baited breath to read more. How many more days do you guys still have left in the parks? We all can't wait to read more, but then that just means it's closer to the end. Do you have another trip in the works or not? Still haven't decided on a place. Hoping to put down deposit in Sept for our June trip. I'm running out of time, but leaning towards POR.

I'm finally caught up! I love seeing the pictures you take on the rides (and waiting to get on them)! It whets my appetite for our trip in January!

I forgot to add that my two dining out experiences this weekend with my family consisted of part of a $5 ham pizza and a chicken grilled stufft burrito! A bit of a contrast to your culinary delights!

Hey Gang!!! Happy July 24th!!!!!! Why is that a day to celebrate??? Well it just so happens that 9 lovely years ago today, Tom and I entered into marital bliss!!!! That's right, it's our wedding anniversary today!! :yay: It has gone too quickly, but heck, so has the entire 15 years we have been together! I am a really lucky girl--not only is he a master of FP, but he is a wonderfully supportive and loving husband and father--truly the best!!! PLUS, he has a GREAT sense of humor that still keeps me laughing after all these years!!! I found the funniest card for him--I thought I needed to share it with you:

It says "She looked at him. He looked at her. And everyone who saw that look wanted to throw up a little."

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Sorry--we are not mushy, gushy romantics--we always prefer the simple and the humorous--so if you were waiting to read a really romantic card or statement, I know you must be so disappointed! You should see my favorite card of all time that he gave to me several years ago. It was a plain white card with a simple stick man drawn on the front underneath the words "I love you." Inside the card was an "excited" anatomically "correct" STICK MAN (do you get it????) underneath the words "See?" Pure genius in my books!!! We love that card---and yes I kept it! I can only imagine what Megan will think later in life when she finds it in my hope chest after we are long gone!!! OH WELL!!!

Anyway, I just wanted to share our celebration with you all today! In reference to another update--I am uploading the pics now for the next update, but will not be able to post it until tomorrow due to anniversary celebrations!! Have a great night---love the one you're with!!!! Jen

Congratulations!! I LOVE the card. :rotfl2:

What great updates!! I want more, I want more!!!

You're making me SO EXCITED for my upcoming trip. Y'all just have SO MUCH fun and manage to squeeze so much in, yet take enough breaks and seem to have such a balance!

Bummer on that Pizza Planet line....I can't imagine there actually being another incident like that! I hope hope hope it's not as bad!

Can't wait to read more!

Gosh--we must have been going right around each other!!! That was such a ridiculously hot day, and now I am so glad that it wasn't just me who thought so!!! I wish we could have run into each other though!!!!

We have the rest of this day, and then two more days in the parks--it is sad that it is coming to an end! I am going to have to continue writing about our daily adventures after writing about the trip. So far, no trip in the works--UGH!! Much to the dismay of both me and Megan!!! I wish there was some way I can help you make your decision, but that is a tough one!!! You gotta let me know what you ultimately decide!

I'm finally caught up! I love seeing the pictures you take on the rides (and waiting to get on them)! It whets my appetite for our trip in January!

It is a great way to somehow transport ourselves back there!!! If only in our minds!

I forgot to add that my two dining out experiences this weekend with my family consisted of part of a $5 ham pizza and a chicken grilled stufft burrito! A bit of a contrast to your culinary delights!

Hey, this by no means was a typical weekend--I guess the anniversary love bug was still lingering around Tom--it was a special treat to be taken out twice on the weekend!!!
Congratulations!! I LOVE the card. :rotfl2:

I knew you would!!! Just perfect isn't it!!!

What great updates!! I want more, I want more!!!

I am glad you are enjoying the updates, and that they are getting you excited about your trip!! I so wish we could go in September---that is our favorite time to go--so far!!! Thanks to Tom, my FP master, we were able to waltz our way around the parks all week! We definitely packed it in, but were happy that we got to see so much and have so much fun! We never really have "bad" moments where we go psycho on each other---just stay pretty even-keeled and enjoy it! I do feel bad when you see a family that has had too much sun, too much time in line waiting, and they just start going off on each other--you want to go put them down for a nap, but you know you can't!

The Pizza Planet thing was the most "tragic" moment of our whole trip--can't believe we had to wait in line that long!!! That said, we kept it all in perspective---there wasn't any where we HAD to go, didn't let it stress us out. We knew our day would have been wholly worse had we left that restaurant and tried to get Megan to eat somewhere else---it just wasn't that worth it to us! BUT it definitely was an interesting event--especially considering we had just walked past a completely empty restaurant! :scared1:

Great Update! I was at DHS in June and rode Toy Story by myself... For some reason I had incredible luck and got over 200,000 ... I hope I am that good when I go back with DBF in November.
Whenever I get lunch at DHS -- it is alwasy just a turkey leg.. I hate those long lines.. I cannot believe it took you 40 minutes just to get your food.. You really are a very patient Mom.. I probably would have come up with some excuse to leave... :rotfl2:

Hi Jenn,
I am a lurker pretty much.I will post every now and then, and I followed you over from Leslie's trip report, and have FINALLY gotten caught up on reading your pre- trip report and then the actual trip. I am loving it too. I think I go for the trip report with little kids as I am trying to recapture that magical feeling the little ones get. Both my daughters are grown, one 20 and will be a college senior this year and my youngest is 15.I have enjoyed reading about Megan's enthusiasm while she is at Disney World. My youngest was 4 years old when we first took her,and it is a trip I will never forget, especially when she saw the castle for the very first time.It was my first time also and I remember how I cried when I saw it. My daughter said "Mommy, don't cry,it's bootiful!" I laughed then and said " Yes it is bootiful and it makes me cry happy tears" So then for the rest of the trip, whenever we were having the best time or amazed about something, she would keep looking at me and ask me if I was going to cry happy tears again? LOL..Which of course would get me laughing and starting to cry again. Then one other time,we were watching the night time parade at Magic Kingdom, and she turned to me and said," Mommy,I think I am going to cry happy tears too!" And she had these huge eyes filled with pooled up tears. And the last thing I will always remember about that first trip is when we had to leave she said" Mommy,we shouldn"t leave here because it is going to make us cry sad tears" LOL
It did too! Thankfull we have been blessed to take a few other trips over the years, and now this January she will be going again ,this time with many of her friends from the high school dance team to dance in one of the parades down there. I am so excited for her,and I am also trying to surprise my older daughter with a mother/daughter only trip down there so we can watch my youngest dance in the parade.I am so excited that what at one time made her cry happy tears, she will actually be able to take part in now!

Sorry for highjacking your thread for that..but as you know, when us moms get to talking about our kids,we can go on and on...and this doesn't ever diminish with thier age either...lol,so that's my excuse.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you how much I love reading your trip report and how adorable your sweet little girl is. I wish you many more happy trips to her "happy place" for years to come!:wizard: :goodvibes
