Mom and Dad and 2 Picky Kids do the DDP ~ With Lots of Pictures!

Well, since your name is so close to mine, I just have to read this!! :thumbsup2 Great reviews so far!!

DisMomAmy-- I  someone with autism too!!!

Welcome! Hope you enjoy. :goodvibes I just love your DIS name by the way! :thumbsup2

We really like 1900 Park Fare...we were there Sunday Jan 18. The Strawberry soup was to die for. I would go back again just for that and for the white chocolate slipper I ordered from the Grand Floridian Bakery.

The only thing I didn't like was the Fairy Godmother was there instead of the Stepmother.

I wish I would have tried the strawberry soup everybody is talking about! I didn't even see it. I'm not a real big soup eater so I probably passed that section right by. Bummer :sad2:

Wow! I am just now subbing and we are already on page 10!! I am way behind the times :sad2: This is such a fun thread; I love seeing the pics of your family. Your boys are having a great time, that's for sure.

I love the part in your intro post where you describe your life as a stay-at-home mom who would like to get back to her banking career some day. That was me about 15 years ago. I used to say that when my youngest started kindergarten, I might go back to work. Well, my oldest is 24 and in med school and my youngest is 21 and a college junior. And I'm still a stay-at-home mom-even though my kids aren't even at home much any more! :rotfl: At this point, forget it!! I loved being home with them all through their school years. I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Back to your dining report, I can't wait to read all your reviews-keep 'em coming! :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, I have to look at that thread now. My family was in a very conspicuous (I don't know how to spell that word!) spot one day (which nobody here knows about yet...).

I have to go found that. I still have a picture of the main street cars with a diser I was trying to locate in it from 2007. My DH took it and when we got home I was like that women has a green mickey head on.

Shelly we have only did 1900 park fair once back in 2005, I like it. But I like desserts a lot. DH did not. chocolate or stealers? That must be the running joke down ther. Somone ask my son that on our last trip.
You son has that I am from Pa. thatis right.... attack!!!!:rotfl2:

Thursday Jan 22nd

Toy Story Pizza Planet

Today we were at DHS all day - open to close. We had to book a very early dinner ADR because we booked the Fantasmic package dinner. So with dinner being at 4:10pm we had a very light breakfast in the room and headed to Toy Story Pizza Planet for lunch right at 11:00am. We had ate here one other time but that was one our very first trip so we hadn't been here in awhile. Like I said we got there right at 11:00, and the line was pretty long already. And it moved very slow. Wow. Luckily we ran into DISer Trixiequilts and her family again so the kids were entertained while we waited and never complained! We finally got up to the register and ordered. Then you proceed up to the counter and wait for your food. The wait from there wasn't too long but the whole staff seemed a little disorganized. Instead of calling out the number on your receipt they would say - did you get this? Or that? Very confusing. When I got our tray of food I realized the kids applesauces were missing and had to ask for them. Then when we got to our table - upstairs - I realized that they had left one of the kids cookies off too. It wasn't that important and I sure didn't feel like going back downstairs and waiting in that line again to complain about a cookie! Here is the menu ~

Cheese Pizza $4.49"

The kids of course got the kids pizza meal. I got the Cheese pizza meal and DH got the Veggie pizza meal. The kids meals came with a very small pizza (5" I think), applesauce, milk, and a cookie (well one of them got a cookie!). Our meals came with an individual pizza, a side salad, a drink, and a dessert. I got a cookie for my dessert - which I ended up giving to the kids since they were missing one. DH got apples slices for his dessert which he ended up giving to DS7 because he didn't like his pizza very much. DS7 doesn't like sauce very much, so when he has pizza at home I make his without sauce. DS9 likes lots of sauce, but no cheese. So that's how I make his at home. :sad2: Which makes it difficult when we eat out! It's not too hard for DS9 to take the cheese off of his pizza, but it's a little more difficult to get the sauce off of DS7's pizza! :rotfl:

We had gone upstairs and got a table. It wasn't very crowded up there yet. The restaurant is very bright & clean, exciting for kids, and full of video games. DH and I thought our pizza's were okay to good. Nothing spectacular or anything. The salads were fresh and good. DS9 liked his pizza once he got the cheese off but it was very small and he didn't really get full. And as I said DS7 didn't really care for his pizza, good thing DH had ordered those apple slices!

So overall I guess it was a decent lunch. We'd go back, but it's definitely not a must-do for every trip!

OMG that is so funny! Were you stalking us??? :tiptoe: :lmao:

Think of how many times we probably walked right by each other!

DHS was a madhouse that day, wasn't it? :sad2: I sure wish they would get rid of this whole bright idea to only show Fantasmic twice a week! Crazy! :crazy2:

You son has that I am from Pa. that is right.... attack!!!!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: You know, I really don't know what he is doing in that picture! She must have said something to him, I can't remember. I'll have to show it to him and ask if he remembers what he was doing! It sure looks funny anyway! :rotfl:

Better late than never! :rotfl: Just kidding, actually you are not late at all - I'm only about 2 1/2 days into the trip anyway!:thumbsup2

Wow you must be very proud of your kids! Yes, I say I'd like to get back to my career someday, but who knows when/if that will ever happen. I did work part time from the time DS9 was born until he got in kindergarten, about 15-20 hours a week. Once he got in school I could see that I was missing so much even just working part time. I envied those room moms and PTO moms and soccer moms. At that time DH happened to get a new job that required him working 60+ hours and traveling a little. So then it was a no-brainer for us and I quit my job and became a professional volunteer! :rotfl:

I'm enjoying your report, thank you. We will have 2 boys in our group in May, so am interested in your comments!

It sure was. I think everybody and their brother were at DHS that day! :sad2: Lesson learned, next time skip Fantasmic and go to DHS another day when Fantasmic isn't showing!:goodvibes

I am really enjoying your trip reports - your boys look like they are really enjoying all the character meals! :thumbsup2

OMG I though everyone got Dole Whips!! :rotfl:

Actually I totally missed them on our first trip! :confused3 But once I had one I have to go back for one every trip, no matter how full I may already be from the DDP!

Well, we've been there 3x's and I have yet to try the coveted Dole Whip. I've wanted to on the last 2 trips just for one reason or another got distracted. Thank goodness we are staying at the Poly on our next trip and will be able to have them every day if I want. I know, I'm pathetic but what can I say. They don't offer Dole Whips on the CL at Poly do they? :lmao:

I really like Casey's. I know a lot of people really dislike the place and won't ever eat there. I've had a bite of DH's hot dog and it was good. I had the Corn Dog Nuggets with DS and we devoured them. Not sure if a lot of it had to do with the fact that were were just starving so anything would've tasted good at that point. But DS and I really like our corn dogs.

As for 1900 PF. Haven't been there yet but will be going there on our next trip and can't wait to try it. Everyone likes different things. Most of the reviews I've seen about it people really like it and I've heard raving about the chilled strawberry soup. We're not a family of picky eaters and are willing to try almost anything once.

Boy Shelly, those kids pizzas are very small!
:guilty:
We took the kids there on our Christmas trip in '06 and they really liked it. Except for Belle, who as you know, hates everything that is food.:rotfl:

We haven't been back there since, I always forget about it.

Thanks for the review.

Yes, DS9 ate his in about 2 minutes! :rotfl: It would have been just the right size for DS7 - if he had only liked it! :rolleyes2

I think we'll stay away from Pizza Planet - we'd never get DS8 out of there!! He's a little obsessed with arcades. And I remember it being VERY loud in there too!

Still on the fence about F!... at least if we decide to go, we know what we are up against!
