A cruise sounds so nice and relaxing. My friend just got home from one and she loved that part as much as being at Disney and is already talking about doing it again. I think she will be my next Disney loving friend. Only problem is her DH complained about all the people, heat, the cost, and the crowds and said he is never goin back. Looks like I have a new Disney buddy. lol I hope you find and opening for you on a cruise.

It disturbs me that children are not given as many rights to protection as an adult. Okay, I understand a certain amount of immature behavior, pushing and shoving and playing a bit rough and such, but if an adult hit or verbally abused another adult there would be repercussions but children, who need to be protected from others as well as from their own misbehavior, are not protected by the adults. I grew up in a small town and if I had done anything wrong or someone had done wrong to me someone would have stepped up or by the time I got home my parents would have been called by one, or more, neighbors. We are afraid to get involved now because often the parents will get mad at us though.

Ang, I can imagine the thoughts going through your head. I have been there. I know. You are wise to take the time to think it through though.

I completely agree it disturbs me too. I figure if I am not legally allowed to beat him and I am financially responsible for his medical bills then nobody else should be. Come on the kid punched him in the face 3 times if I did that even once I would be in jail right now so it's a double standard. Not that I would ever want to beat or punch my child. Still processing it all. DS knows I'm upset so he keeps hugging me and telling me he didn't even feel it that it was just like a breeze of air on his face. How quickly he forgets maybe there is a lesson in there for me. I think he is more afraid of other kids making fun of him than anything. He is also upset that he lost his field trip and dance privilages, that he has been looking forward to. He also gets all 0's on the work they did today and do for the field trip so he is worried about his grades going down. I swear the middle school here is like a juvi jailhouse.

I keep saying to myself 3 more weeks we can make it till the last day of school. If things get bad and I see he needs a day off I will just have to give him a personal day or two.

Side note.....told Poohbear about it already but thot I would share(not that anyone cares..but, I feel like typing LOL)
The Salvation Army women's league here is having me design a dress for their retreat at the end of the month, made entirely out of garbage bags.
It is based on a big fundraiser in the city where the ritzy ladies make them and use the money they would have spent on a dress as a donation to the SA.
Each corps has to come up with one for a fashion show they are doing during the retreat (which I cant go on cause of childcare issues--hey Timmy want her for the weekend?)
I told them to pick a Disney Princess dress and I will make one for one of those. They chose Belle. No prob on design since I already have done one like for Meghyn (not in plastic ) The girl they chose to model is VERY (how can I say this politely..???) ummm...LARGE. I am a pretty big girl and she outdoes me by a mile. Sigh, oh well I will just use more bags.

They have decided on a white dress with blue swoops (those things across the front of Belle's gown at the bottom) and trim and I suggested using the red plastic ties (the drawstring bags) on the bags as roses. Kinda ironic when I realized that they are doing this near Memorial Day ...tah dah Red white and blue.

I was going to make the tiara out of the old kind of bag ties (like the bread bag ties) but thot it would be neat to surprise the girl doing the modeling with a bridal veil instead cause she is getting married this fall. Poohbear almost fainted when I told her the girl is having a Steelers theme wedding (yep, black and gold) To each their own but I cant figure out how to make a veil out of plastic bags without smothering her to death. Any suggestions???? What do you guys think?

I just had too share this to let you know you are so not alone with the school issues. Today my son got beat up and then suspended. Why you might ask: because a kid who has been bullying him for the last two years by saying nasty stuff to him and flicking him off (he did this in front of me last year) decided to humiliate him in front of the entire gym class today. DS said he just couldn't take it any more so he tried to run back to where the teacher was (the teacher was nowhere to be found when this took place, and never is, that is why there are so many fights in his gym class) and the boy held him back while the rest of the boys circled them so DS swore at him and the kid punched him several times in the face. DS never touched him but because he swore at him he got suspended right along with the other boy. Ironically, this boy was put in DS gym class for the first and only time today because of a field trip he was not allowed to go on with his class.

My son is in serious need of self defense classes because he is a bully's dream because of being so mild mannered and different beause of his ADHD. He did everything by the book telling the kids to stop, trying to involve a teacher etc. Sadly, he did everything but defend himself and still gets suspended.

I called the police and was told I could press battery charges but it was unlikely in our small town that anything would happen since it is the schools responsiblity and they took care of it by suspending the boy who hit him. I am so tired of the BS in our school and the little town politics.

Maybe I will take DH up on moving to the hoosier state just to get out of our sad repressed little town but then it will just be new bullies to contend with.

I know it is life lessons he is learning the hard way but it is so hard to watch him go through it when he is just such a mild mannered kid. Now he will be a nice target for the kids for the next four weeks till this school year ends.

I did make it clear to the principal and my son that I expect my son to walk with the teacher at all times when going to and leaving the locker room. If he is late because the teacher feels cleaning up for the next class is more important than supervising the raging hormone 13 year olds in his class then he will have to explain it to DS teacher in his next class so DS doesn't get disciplined for being late to class. It would be so nice if I could be 13 along with him and beat all the bullies up for him. I grew up with 4 brothers so it was learn to fight or die. lol

Oh Ang, I'm so sorry about what has happened to your son, that is just so wrong! I really hope the principal does something to protect him! I've been straight out at work the last few days, I finally had a few minutes to go through and read the last few pages of posts!

Have you considered putting your son into a self defense class?
