Hi, we are renting points, doing 4 nights at BL, then 4 nights at BW. When we check out of BW on Fri, that's when we planned on flying home-prior to Disney, we are going to stay off sight for a few days to do Universal/SeaWorld. My question is, I've been checking air fare, and if we fly back Thurs. instead of Fri, it's over a $500 savings. How difficult would it be for the person I rented from, to cancel our last night at BW, but then add 1 night onto BL.(to the beginning of BL's stay) That way, we would do 5 nights at BL, and 3 at BW, instead of 4 at each. We are also doing the dining plan. I think there is a few points difference, nothing too much, and I realize I would pay him the difference. Is that a huge deal for the DVC person to switch around? Thanks!!

Most people say that once points are rented it’s booked etc there’s no changes (save them a lot of uncertainty and extra work etc). However if you have a willing owner it is not so much the difficulty for the owner but a question of whether there is availability for that extra night and if they have extra points available to rent to you if the resort is available. You haven’t mentioned a room type or when you’re travelling because that will have a big impact on whether the room might be available.

Hi, I do see the one night at BL is available, and he does have the extra points to make up the difference of what we rented for the 1 night at BW compared to the 1 night at BL. I've dealt with him for a few years, we've spoken on the phone, he's great to work with, that's why I was concerned about the hassle for him if we do decide to make the change. I normally wouldn't change anything, but it's over a $500 savings with flights-as my DH says, that's a lot of t shirts!

I just checked the air fare-the flight home did go down since yesterday! Now it's a $389.00 difference.

If you are not a DVC member, you aren't looking at points availability online, you are looking at cash inventory. Before you make any decision, the member would need to see if a room at *BL* (do you mean BLT?) is available on points.

It is probably a huge deal. As Denise said, you are not looking at points inventory, unless you are a member - and it isn't likely the room you are looking at is available on points Also, they might have plans for those few more points themselves. By now, they may have banked those points into next year, or rented them to someone else, or planned on using them themselves.

ok, thank you everyone! He's been a great person to rent from for the last few years, so hopefully the air will come down a bit, and we'll just leave it all alone, thanks again!

All you really can do is ask him. It may or may not be a big deal - that will depend on a few things that we can't begin to know. If points line and time line up and there is availability it would take a phone call. Many would say it's a final deal when renting and I wouldn't consider that a wrong answer either.
