Moderators: This board seems off topic!

There are so very few good frugal, budget type boards....I love this one!

I do agree, however, that it's best when titles are very descriptive, which enables readers to easily skip over what doesn't interest them (and find what does!)

::yes:: As the old saying goes, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' As previous posters have said all the topics help us save for Disney. If you don't like a particular thread then just don't open it. It's that simple!! It's obvious that most of us like it the way it is.

I TOTALLY agree!! Please leave this board the way it is - it quickly became my favorite board, and has helped me in so many ways to save money for WDW, and other things. I have learned so much -please don't let it go away!

When I first came to the Dis I looked at a number of the other boards...but soon I was only visiting one board regularly...yup, THIS one! The people on this board do not only answer my directly related Disney budget questions...they keep it interesting and dynamic by posting other creative money-saving tips!

I feel as though I should chime in here too, to say that I love this Board the way it is and where it is. I have been on the DIS Boards for awhile (since 2000), and this particular Board has always included topics that are not strictly WDW-related, although I think most who have frequented it do so with the understanding that we are trying to get to WDW and saving money in all areas of our lives helps us accomplish that. When I come to the DIS, the Budget Board is somewhere I always stop!

Most people are good about their thread titles, so I find it easy enough to skip over items that are not of interest to me. For instance, I am not an Ebayer, but the Ebayers who post here are really good about putting Ebay in their thread titles, allowing me to move on to threads I prefer to focus on.

I agree with CajunDixie. There just aren't very many ways to save money directly related to saving money on your Disney trip and the board will grow stagnant fast.

If you don't want to read about saving someplace besides Disney.... Don't open the post...

Yup. But I think the group has to make a better effort at creating better Subjects. A subject of "Look What I Found!" doesn't make it easy for someone to skip over it because they don't know if the post is about some great deal at WDW or a coupon code for Gymboree.

Yet another leave the board as is vote! I don't even post that often, but thanks to hints/tips I have certainly saved more money since I began reading this forum then ever before. Two Mouse thumbs up for the DIS budget board!

On my computer, I can put the cursor over the subject line and the 1st 2 sentences or so pop up so I can get an idea about what the subject of the post is about, without opening up the thread. I am not sure if this is the same on all computers, but it saves me time opening threads I am not interested in.

Yes, but sometimes the first sentences aren't much more informative. Good subject lines help, and then more specifics in the first few sentences.

Also, I wish people would understand better that just because "my Sam's Club had a great deal on kids jeans" doesn't mean ALL Sam's Clubs got the same shipment. Note the location if you are trying to be helpful (and not just bragging about a great deal - which is ok too). Some retailers send their overstock and sales to specific stores regionally - some don't even carry the same product mix regionally.

Two thoughts:

First I agree with RobinB- Knowing that most everyone loves the ideas and savings that are found on the budget board, we can as resonsable posters try harder to label our posts better. I agree that if it says "Look at the deal I found today" versus "Found XXXX at Target- Great Deal" one can tend to be upset if they open the thread and they find the information useless to them. I am all for spreading the excitement on a good deal, but hold your excitement for the actual thread and not it's title.

We also have to realize that not everyone may be as computer savy as the rest of us. I, by accident, found out that if you "hover" over the thread for a second or two, you can get a preview of the thread's actual content. However, sometimes the actual "deal" isn't found in those first few lines.

Secondly, I say PLEASE leave this budget as is and agree with CajunDixie about having two budget boards. As a seasoned WDW guest, I am aware of the (mostly few) discounts that can actually be found for your trip to WDW and I come here to look for more ways to save on a daily basis so that I can put those savings into my trip budget. Do not get me wrong though, I still learn about new ways to save at WDW through other people's experiences, but I learn more from non WDW advice found here.

Count me in as another member who LOVES this board as it is. I come here to find deals that help me with DIsney and non-Disney items. Whether or not I use the savings for our upcoming trip is irrelevant. Saving money is saving money!

:flower: :flower: :flower: :flower: Another Vote for leave this board alone, I cant tell you how many ideas i got to save in other ways, so i can put money away for my WDW trip, Please leave this board just as is, there is so much info on here that helps all of us.
I Only come to this board first.

PLease leave this board ALONE..................

My comments are about the Disboards in general: I have not seen a more user friendly site out there, it is well organized and efficient in it's layout. Nothing in life is or will be perfect, but the Dis is as close as it gets!!

Wow.... I'm off the Dis for 36 hours and look at all I missed!! First of all, I also click on the Budget Board before I go anywhere else on the Dis.... I vote for leaving the BB AS IS! If you were to split the BB into "trip planning" and "non-trip planning", some people wouldn't know what to put where. For example.... Someone mentioned a GREAT pin sale last week. Now, if you were planning a trip and wanted to do some pin trading, this would be great in the "trip planning budget" area. But if you were looking to get someone a birhtday gift or are a pin collector yourself, then the post would be fine in a "non-trip planning budget" area. But would the OP know where to put it? ANd if it was put on one board and you were checking only the other board, you could miss a great deal!! Please leave my beloved Budget Board just the way it is! :goodvibes ..................P

Also happy with the board as it is!

Just more descriptive subject lines would help a lot.

Another one who enjoys ALL of the budget tips here. Many of us are very creative in how we apply/use savings in order to have more vacation $$. Something that may seem OT to one poster would be perfect to another. :)
