Are you able to request adjoining rooms at all of the moderate resorts? We will be a family of 4 (kids ages 17 and 8). I would like to stay deluxe for the extra room and would especially like to have 2 bathrooms, but the cost may be prohibitive. We have done AoA suites before and are also considering this. I would just like to stay somewhere different this time.
Which moderate would you suggest that will "feel" most deluxe? We have stayed at Coronado and POFQ before and liked Coronado the best.

First: Adjoining means "near each other." Do you mean connecting, which is to say having a door between two rooms? Because otherwise, you would need an adult on each room for adjoining (and if you don't get connecting, you'd need that too). They are requests, which is to say never guaranteed.

Coronado is the lite-deluxe due to the presence of the convention center.

I think you want connecting but no matter, yes, you can request them. I researched a bit for our November trip and both PO resorts seem to be about half connecting rooms in the Garden category, so that's what I booked. We requesting and got connecting rooms.

I believe (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that you are guaranteed a connecting room if there is no one over the age of eighteen in one of the rooms. You would have to list the 17 and 8 year old as occupants in one room and you and the other adult in the other.

They wouldn't let the OP do that. Every room has to have at least one guest over the age of 18. Connecting rooms are never guaranteed.

This is a myth and a dangerous one to believe.

Unfortunately no. Connecting rooms are never ever guaranteed.

Don't feel bad. Even phone CMs have been known to say they're guaranteed. When it then doesn't happen, it's a hot hot mess.
