With the exception of just a couple places, we are going to forgo mobile ordering this trip. Are there places that you must mobile order at to get a meal?

Docking Bay 7 and Ronto Roasters I always mobile order. The line moves slow trying to order in person.

Pinocchio Village Haus and Columbia Harbor House usually have long lines to order in person. Casey's and Starlight Cafe are hit or miss.

I always mobile order. I find it to be easier and less annoying than standing in line waiting for a CM to take my order and then waiting for my order to be prepared. I order, I tap "I'm Here" and within a few minutes I'm picking up my food.

FWIW, I am a big user of Disney Gift Cards to save money at WDW. I like to charge everything to my MB and then pay it all off at the end of my stay with gift cards. Unfortunately, you can't charge a mobile order (or mobile purchases available at certain gift shops) back to your room like you can at a cashier. To make it even more painful, the Disney app will happily remember your credit card number on file so you can just charge your mobile order to your credit card, but it won't remember a gift card number. You have to enter the gift card number into the app each and every time. My workaround is that I add my main gift card number in the notes app of my phone and I quickly copy and paste it into the Disney app. This works for mobile orders, mobile purchases and G+ payments.

I went to Satuli Canteen last month and CMs wouldn't let you inside unless your mobile order was ready to be picked up. I would assume that if you told them you couldn't use MDE to order, they would let you in to order but I don't remember seeing any open registers.

Why would you voluntarily not mobile order? My observation is that most people that don't mobile order are usually foreign or larger groups so how quick do you think the line's going to move?

I always get behind some family/group that doesn't bother to figure out what they want until they get up to the cashier.

Normally we do. Think we will just cut back doing it at resort CS because they don't have the entire menus available to mobile order now.

Usually the last register furthest from the entrance is open, although maybe it wasn't when you were there.

I have run itno that and they would have allowed me in to order, however they told me that it would faster if I just did the mobile order right there instead of waiting in the small line (that was around the corner). They were correct.

Interesting, normally Satuli takes a while for me even with mobile order, so I'll do it ahead of time.

I've never noticed that, but I always order the cheeseburger pods, so maybe those don't take long.

Yeah, if you're referring to a food court situation at a value or moderate resort, I agree with you here -- better to order in person in most cases, as you can sometimes customize options to your liking in a way that's harder to do via mobile, and as you pointed out, there are sometimes more options that don't appear on MDE/Mobile Ordering.

I mobile everything in the Parks FWIW but even at places like Captain Cooks, Gasparilla Island Grill -- Deluxe QS options that aren't a food court -- I'll usually just order in person.

Yeah, resort CS restaurants do not always have everything on the menu in the app. I learned my lesson at the Riverside Food Mill on our last trip when I mobile ordered from my table in the River Roost waiting for Yeehaw Bob. I got there to pick it up and I noticed a couple more interesting Cajun items that were not on the app.

The last time we were there (March 2022) mobile order was bad in our experience. We tried it at Lunching pad, cosmic rays, and abc commissary and waited quite a while all three times. Lunching pad was the worst. People were in line ordering and getting their food quickly. We waited a good half hour and just kept seeing people get their food after going in line to order while we continued to wait. Cosmic rays and abc we waited about the same, but weren’t paying attention to the people ordering in line.

So the next few times we went to a quick service we just waited in line to order. We will try mobile order again, but if our experience was like last time, we will just stand in line.

I agree completely. I remember a while ago, Mara didn't have their Butternut squash on the menu, but they had it (thank goodness I didn't mobile order). Then when I asked if there was some bread or rolls I could order to go with my soup, she said there wasn't. But after I sat down, the chef brought me some rolls and didn't charge me. On the other hand, one time I mobile ordered a dessert they were out of-they offered me one of 2 substitutions, both of which were cheaper than I'd already ordered and paid for. No refund.

Oh no. That's BS!
