 I got vetoed on my group themed costume ideas, everybody has their own costume in mind. I really really really wanted DD to dress as Cruella and we could all be her Dalmations. But nooooo....... ;)

So our group will include Alice in Wonderland, Mike Wazowski, Buzz Lightyear, and three Incredibles. :rotfl2: We are going to look like such a garbled mess. :rotfl:

I know it's silly and for the children after all :rolleyes1 but anyone else willing to admit their the slightest bit disappointed in your kids' costume choices?

Nope, we did a family-themed costume. We (me, DH, DD, sister, BIL, their 2 daughters) all went as m&m's. We all wore khaki shorts and different colored tee shirts. Shoes matched tees (most of us had crocs- we painted old ones to match the shirts) and we got white stick-on felt and made the "m" for front and back of each. We got LOTS of comments, and DH became "That Guy" in the MOnster's, Inc Comedy Club. It was lots of fun!! (It was also easy to pack and carry in the luggage!)

We are going for the second year in a row as characters from Toy Story 3 -- Jessie, Woody, Slinky Dog (our triplets), DH as Ken and myself as Barbie. The first 2 years of MNSSHP we did not match the kids, then the next year the girls and I coordinated (batgirls) and DH was Lotso, DS was Woody.

At one party Im going to we have an Alice & Queen of Hearts. At the second we'll have a Tink & a Periwinkle!

This is our first time going to the party. I would love to coordinate our costumes. But there are two issues: (1) my hubby won't wear a costume. (2) This is a surprise trip for my daughter. I have to try to coordinate without acting different.

I wanted my hubby to go as shaggy and I would be velma, but noooooo..... he refuses to wear a "costume" even as simple as shaggy. Really? He can't wear a green t-shirt and some brown pants?? Plus, my daughter shot down the idea of being Daphne.

So, I figure I will coordinate with my daughter. She is talking about being Silvermist. That would make me tinkerbell. :( (Unless someone has a better idea?) I found a really cool Ursula costume, so I am hoping she will change her mind and be Ariel (it was one of her choices last year, but Rapunzel ultimately won).

I can't wait to see all of the costumes!

I'm going with a large group of princesses (and we'll have Alice & Flynn too). I think so far confirmed we have Rapunzel & Flynn, Alice, Cinderella (and I think a Prince Charming too), Belle, Ariel, Mulan, Megara, Merida (my dd) & Giselle (me). We have others who may be coming but I think those are the only bought & paid for.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates: DS1 is Jake, DS2 is Cubby, I'm Izzy and DH is Capt Hook.

We saw a group one year that was absolutely adorable...there was a little girl dressed as Snow White, and she had 7 brothers, uncles, or whoever dressed as the 7 dwarves!! She must have truly felt like one special princess!!

That is going to be sooo cute!

DD just got her costume from the Disney store tonight. She picked Snow White. So I think I will just have DS be a dwarf ^.^

I hear you on being disappointed. Our group of 9 decided on going as pirates, but my DS5 wants to be Wolverine instead. The closest I've gotten him to changing his mind is getting him to agree to be Wolverine dressed as a pirate. I'm hoping when he gets together with his cousins and fully realizes they will be pirates too that he'll change his mind.

Aww, im sorry they veto'd you.

we had a ball.

We went in Sept and honey is the one that came up with the idea. He did the painters one piece outfit-- and used black spray paint for the spots. a white painters hat and glued felt ears on it. Painters shoes-- etc.

Before we went I thought--oh mi gawd we will surely melt.

But although they look warm-- they actually were kinda cool since the "fabric" breathed.

The grand daughter=== amazing magic she got from almost everyone-
(standing watching a parade almost every character yelled out over to her-- Yo! cruella-- thanks for coming. stuff like that.

we watched the villians show and i guess cruella saw us from the stage coz after the show they came off the stage and she came right over to us--- took GD my the hand and banished us as we were beastly.
took off her fur coat and put it on GD and told her she reminded so much of herself when she was a little girl--- spent the entire 20 minutes with her.
I felt bad for people who wanted pictures with her-- but many many people were taking pictures of GD and cruella. and we never saw another cruella the whole entire evening.

MANY many princesses, pirates. The incredibles were out in full force.

i will see if I can find a picture.

I understand your disappointment about getting vetoed on fun group ideas.

I want to dress DS (18 months when we go) as Charlie Brown. I figure it will be perfect since he has very little hair and it is so light and fine. I also think it will be comfy and easy to reuse. I thought DH could be Linus or Schroeder or someone, and I'd be Marcie or Peppermint Patty maybe. Anyway, I wanted DD(4) to agree to be Sally and she did for about 20 minutes ;). It would have been great because she even has Sally's hair. Now she is back to insisting on being Cinderella in the dress the mice and birds made. I'll bet that by the time I convince her it's a cool idea in a couple of years, DS will refuse to be my Charlie Brown. Darn these children having ideas and opinions :rotfl:

We never really did a theme. Themes are fun, but I just had everyone pick whatever he/she wants to wear.

For our 1st party, I wore a Disney themed Halloween t-shirt (Pluto carrying a trick-or-treat Jack-o-lantern) , ds was a pirate, and dd was Tink.

For our 2nd party, I wore my Halloween shirt again, ds wore a shirt that says "This shirt is my Halloween costume." :lmao:, and dd was Cleopatra.

We're doing the party again this year. Dd and I are toying with the idea of tie-dying shirts and being hippies together. Ds will probably wear the same shirt he wore last time. I'm not sure if I'll be a hippie or if I'll wear my Disney Halloween shirt again.

My hippie costume would be simple, just the shirt and a peace necklace. My hair is too short for any styling. I'm not sure if people will "get" that dd and I are hippies with tie-dyed shirts and peace necklaces? :confused3 :hippie:

My niece is going to be tinker bell, my daughter wants to be Peter Pan and other daughter wants to be a Pirate so am trying to come up with a cute saying for the adults to wear on a shirt something about pirates any ideas? I wanted adults to dress up but the guys will only wear tshirts so trying to come up with something

There's only DH and I going but were from completely different films - me as Cheshire cat and DH as Gurgi. It doesn't bother me as I want him to enjoy dressing up as the character he wants to be. If I'd made him be mad hatter or white rabbit he just wouldn't be enthused about it. As things stand he's even been telling guys at work about it :rotfl2:

I have the same issue with my hair. It's short and I love it, but it limits me. I was thinking of a Peter Pan theme and I could be Peter, DD could be Tink and DS and DH could be pirates. But I'm concerned there will be TONS of Peter Pan groups. Trying to come up with a unique idea. Might be impossible.

We are doing Tangled: dd as Rapunzel, ds as Flynn, me as Mother Gothel, and dh as Pascal
