MNSSHP What Costume are You Wearing?

This trip is just DS 5 and myself so we are having fun. We are eating at 1900 Park Faire so I can see The Prince, so I will wear my Cinderella dress and crown. Son wants to dress up as the Prince or as a Power Ranger. We will stay in these costumes for our party pictures and so I can ride the Carousel in the dress and crown, then I will be Minnie Mouse. So much easier for the rides. He isn't sure if he will change costumes or not. Hope to see you all Sept 29.

We are from the UK and this will be our very first MNSSHP, and we are going on Halloween Night!

It is just me and the kids this year - DD 16 and DS 12 - as DH is tied down with work. We eventually decided to go as pirates - we are going to the Pirate & Princess Party in Feb so I thought this was a good idea to keep the costs down, as I'm hopeless at sewing so we are buying our costumes.

I think maybe the MNSSHP is going to turn into the P&PP as lots of you seem to be going as pirates! ;)

DD's costume arrived today, and it looks fantastic on her, it has a short skirt (not too short I may add! ;) ) which will hopefully mean she won't get too hot, but it is clingy and see-though so I think we will have to put a cotton lining in it.

The outfits also come with boot covers, so we can still wear our comfy trainers and just pull the boot covers over them.

We are so excited, we can't wait! What a brilliant thread - thanks for all the great photos it is really nice to see all your costumes from last year. :Pinkbounc

I'm going as Merriweather from Sleeping Beauty. I wanted my Mom and niece to go as Flora and Fauna but they refuse. At least I'll be having fun!!!

My niece suggested Timon and Pumba for me and her which would take alot of creative work on my seamstresss' part. I don't have the time or patience for this year. Too much going on.

Well your MNSSHP tickets are purchased, rooms, flights and dinner ressies all squared away.

So DISers we're ready to

DS Erich as Le Puss N Boots MNSSHP 2004

Here's Disney's "official " guidelines for costumes at MNSSHP:

They should not interfere with their ability to board and un board attractions and WDW transportation system.

Do not drag on the ground.

Do not contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.

Be offensive to other guest.

Should not contain any weapon(s) which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

About the last one....when Erich was the pirate he had a flexible rubber pirate knife with a skull on the end. When the boys were Ninja Turtle's one had plastic swords strapped to his back and the other the little plastic daggers in his belt.As Puss N Boots he carried a sword. We had NO PROBLEMS at any time with these props.

BALOO'S COSTUME TIPS

Make sure your child's costume is COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in. You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.

I also suggest something in a light weight fabric. Those of us that are accustom to Halloweens up North are use to Trick or Treating in something warm.I grew up in Indiana and it was always cold and/or raining when I was a Trick or Treater! The costumes that are sold through the Disney catalog, like Tigger or Pooh, the jump suit FUR type ones, those are really TOO HEAVY for a Halloween in Florida! The most we've ever needed at MNSSHP is a light jacket or sweatshirt.I make my boys costumes.

If your little girl is going to be a Princess or something quite lovely... I know she looks adorable in those glass slippers but bring sneakers or some other comfortable shoe for her to wear.I've seen little ones dragging around crying about their feet hurting because they're in those plastic dress up shoes which are killing them!

I make all our costumes .. I just LOVE to do that. A ball cap and craft foam or felt can be turned into all sorts of creatures faces!! Let's see the costumes I can remember... Erich has been a Mickey,a pirate ,a t-rex,a turtle,a triceratops,an Ewok,a praying manthis and last year Puss N Boots! Erich and Jonathan Teenage Ninja Turtles and ,Pokemon. I make the costumes from shorts and t-shirts.Then I have a sweatshirt and sweat pants that are the same color that they can wear over the shorts and under the shirt if the night is chilly.Joe and I have worn light jackets.

If you feel like you're too old or just don't want to dress in costume for MNSSHP I have great luck finding Disney theme Halloween t-shirts in my local Kmart,Walmarts and Targets. At WDW there are commemorative T-shirts for the MNSSHP.Or you could make your own T-shirt! Come on over to the Creative DISign Board for lots of fun ideas for t-shirts! http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105

After begging, pleading and bribing youngest DD 8 has agreed to go as TINKERBELLE instead of a pirate. I am so pleased as she is too cute with her big blue eyes and blonde hai to make a convincing pirate and she has that impishness about her that Tink has. :thumbsup2 Oldest DD is going as Lilo. They are both having the crown package at Bibbity Bobbity Bootique at 12 pm, and having dinner at Ohnanas 5.45 on October 2nd. We have our tickets ! yay 1st Disney MNSSHP!! I might go as Cinderella, though havent decided whether to dress up yet.

Well, DH and I were going as Tink and Peter Pan, because I had lost a lot of weight this past year and wanted to show off a little. Well, then we found out we are expecting, so there went Tink. Now, we are just going as Mousketeers. Not very original, but it should be comfortable for both of us. I designed and order T-shirts off of the disney shopping website, and we will buy mouse ears when we arrive.

You guys are so creative. I cannot wait to see all of the great costumes on 9/15!

Wow, that sounds like a dreammmmm....I hope you get photos!

Hello :)

We were at the WL in October 3 years ago. It was our first trip to WDW and we had no idea about the party or that everyone dressed up! - we couldn't get tickets that time as it was sold out but swore if we could ever make a trip at that time of the year again we would make sure we were part of MNSSHP!

We're coming back to the WL 10/13 - 10/27 and we're going to the party on 10/24. DH is going as a pirate, DD7 is going as Violet Incredible, DS7 hasn't decided yet! Me? well, I bought a black fairy dress on Ebay but now I'm not so sure as Idon't know what to wear with it (it has wings but no headress or hat or anything) so I'm having a rethink!
:cheer2: :Pinkbounc  :cool1: :dance3: :wave2: :bounce:

We finally decided on our costumes!!!

We will be St Louis Cardinals baseball players!!!
I've already purchased our jerseys - and they're being customized now!!!
My DH2B will have Mr. Hill for his name and the numbers 06 (stands for the year). Mine will have Mrs. Hill for the name with the same 06 number. This trip is our honeymoon and we wanted to include the excitement of the marriage in everything we did on the trip!!! We still have to get the pants & socks... maybe we'll get that tonight!!!

Look for us and say hello!!!

DD8 will be Supergirl complete with cape & boots. DD5 wants to be red riding hood but the costume I want is out of stock. DH and I probably won't dress up- mostly because we're cheap. I will find DD2 something cool and cute here locally, don't know what yet. :confused3

Mr. and Mrs Incredible signing in!
Last year we looked so genuine that we got asked for autographs and pics with kids! Disney staff ruined the magic and asked us to stop taking pictures with people (can you believe that!)
It was so fun...can't wait till this year!

Hi Mazzy

Was just wondering which mail order co you used for your costumes?

Lucky you going in Oct & Feb! We keep saying we'll look at other destinations but we keep getting drawn back to WDW!

I'll be Jack Skellington, the wife will be Sally.

We'll be there the 24th of October, with our lime green Mickey ears as well.

I have been wondering about something and hope it is ok to ask here. If you make an excellent costume of one of the Disney princesses do you have to worry about children mistaking you for a character performer? In a few years (when I am done with college) I hope to have the freedom to attend MNSSHP as Snow White and was worried about my costume being too authentic.

there is always the possibility, but it should be ok? Can't say for sure :)
