MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

My DH is on the couch watching football with the baby and my DS is napping on the couch. We are going to MNSSHP today and none of them know it!!! I cant even stand to keep my mouth shut. They think we are going to a Halloween corn maze in the middle of Florida. hehe.
Funniest thing is that my DH got up and wore a Mickey Teeshirt today!!!
Its 2:45 pm...we're out of here in about 1 hour. MNSSHP here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s my DS is Michael Jackson....pics to come soon!

So, how'd it go? I am so excited to hear your story!

Just back from our trip to Disney. Crowds weren't bad at all except...we went to the MNSSHP on Halloween night, was our first time to this event. Had a great time on our trip but Never again will i go on Halloween night to this event. It was jam packed with people some not so friendly. And i agree with some of the costumes being not so child friendly. I was also surprised at the number of parents who dressed their children in costumes that were more so fit for upstate ny weather. It was so hot and some of them had on heavy costumes all day. We brought a couple different things and watched the weather every day before we left. Ended up changing ds4's costume before we left as it was too hot for plan 1. I did see snow white and all 7 dwarfs but didn't want to wait in what looked like a 2 hr line. However i wondered back at 1145 pm and stood in the stand by line and got a picture with them at about 1157pm right before they left. I was lucky! My advice to anyone who wants it.... goto MNSSHP on a different night other then on Halloween itself.

ITA! The crowds had been great all week (a little heavier towards the weekend), but the party was much too crowded! We were expecting it of course because it was Halloween, but it turned out not to be a lot of fun for the kids. The lines were long for everything. All night long it was constantly schleping your way through the crowd only to wait in yet another long line. And the pp was right, there were a lot of not so nice people, pushing, grumbling etc. We left right after the fireworks, the kids had had enough.

I would consider doing MNSSHP again, but definitely not on Halloween. For the price that you pay it just wasn't worth it. It wasn't a lot of fun for the kids and there just didn't seem to be a lot of magic to it. The best part of the night was the fireworks. We managed to find a quiet spot out front of the Crystal Palace. I imagine if you had hit a quieter night it could have been a lot of fun.

You were close to us, as we were out front of Casey's:rotfl: And I also had to leave right after the fireworks as I ended up being sick that night. While I saw some great costumes, the overall vibe just seemed to be cranky. People were hot and irritated, all jam packed together and sweating their butts off in their costumes.

If/when I go again, I'll definitely pick something more lightweight:upsidedow

Wow! Maybe I'm the only one who didn't feel packed in on Halloween night. :confused3 Glad to hear that everyone still had fun though! Sorry you got sick, SoScary!

Did you have kids with you? Maybe that was the difference? We had one in a stroller and 7 year old. The crowds and heat (even though they weren't heavily dressed) were just too much for them.

I'm sorry you got sick too SoScary. Not a great way to end the night.

We were just three adults with no kids, and that probably is what made a difference! I can see how kids and strollers would make it much more difficult to maneuver around the party. I'm sorry that your kids got so hot in their costumes. We were pretty uncomfortable between 4pm and 7, but once the sun went down it got much better for us. I know that since we'd never been to MNSSHP before, we didn't really have anything to compare the crowds to. If we go to the party in the future on a much less crowded evening, we'll probably feel like this year was a madhouse by comparison!

How long did it take for you to start the line until they came out??

ok--in other words-- what time did you start waiting?

For some odd reason, they didn't have SW come out until 7:30. What a WASTE of perfectly good party time!

We did this on each of the 2 nights we were at the party. The first time the line started around 6:15 and grew quickly. The second night we walked by around 6:45 and no one was in line yet, so we decided to see them again.

Hi, here is a pic of our candy from this year 10/25

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather take $10 to my local Walgreens and buy just the candy I want, and focus on the things that only Disney can deliver on..... the parade, the character meet & greets, the dance parties, etc.

Here's some other fun we had at MNSSHP 10/25/09

Of course, in the grand scheme of things, candy isn't a big deal but when you think of how good the candy selection used to be, and the ticket price going up every year, sometimes by alot, and then think of the other things they've taken away (free photo), it's a bit of a let down.

Raise the price each year, yet take something else away. That's what bugs me.

:thumbsup2 First of all, the "good candy" is a relative term. I'm a chocolate lover and I went 9/22..got Reese's PB cups, Hershey bars, Snickers, Nestle crunch, and Hershey Kisses. Also, my bag was filled to the top-not all chocolate of course, but a decent amount.

I have relatives that don't like chocolate.:scared1: I don't understand how I'm related to them but that's beside the point.:lmao: Someone like that will look at a bag that has Smarties, Twizzlers, Bottle Caps and Now and Laters and will be ecstatic.

I go mainly for Hallowishes, and the Parade and the smaller lines for rides.
