MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

There is a bridge that leads from the Hub near the Castle over to Liberty Square, right near Hall of Presidents. We were on the Hub side of that bridge, right along the ropes in a corner, so we were the first ones with a view of all of the floats, etc. It was a great spot, highly recommended! :thumbsup2

Your pic of the Headless Horseman is definitely the BEST I've ever seen! We'll have to remember that spot for next year! Thanks for posting! :thumbsup2

OMG! We had SO much fun! I could not have dreamed of everything going so perfectly. Total opposite of my MVMCP experience!

DF and I got to MK around 5:30. We hit most of the rides in Fantasyland, ate dinner at Cosmic Ray's, rode Buzz, and right when we got off Buzz it was 7pm. We hit Star Traders early and I'm glad I did, I got the party t-shirt I'd been coveting and there was only one on the rack in my size! Now originally I had planned on avoiding candy lines until the end of the night as most of you suggest, but my fiance is a candy FREAK so that idea went out the window. :rotfl2: We wound up starting the party by hitting every single candy spot in the park, and it only took about an hour! The candy lines moved FAST! I surprised myself by having so much fun simply collecting free candy! I really enjoyed having that trick-or-treat excitement over a decade after I was last able to participate in that tradition! The treat walkthrough in Toontown was particularly fun.

We took the frontier land bridge to bypass the HUGE crowd during the first parade and walked right on to BTMRR during it. It could just have been our giddy mood, but we both swore that the ride was operating at a higher speed than usual! We've never had so much fun on it, and best of all, when we pulled back into the station and some folks said "boooo, again!" the CM actually let anyone who wanted to stay on for another ride! So much fun!

After that we rode stopped for a Dole whip, then rode HM, and then headed to the castle. We jumped onto Maleficent's character greet line just as the show was actually starting (second in line!) and this was a really good vantage point for the show! And I FINALLY, FINALLY got my picture taken with my favorite Disney character of all time, thanks to the info I read in this thread! :worship:

After that it was time for Hallo-Wishes, which was amazing! We went on the carousel after that and then decided to head to Liberty Square for a spot for the second parade. Which couldn't have been a better decision; it was only about 25 minutes before the parade start when we got there, but there were so many empty areas! We picked up a popcorn bucket (YAY, haunted mansion bucket! The popcorn buckets are one of my favorite collectibles, we use them to serve snacks at home!) and sat on the ground right behind the rope. The folks in our little taped-off area were all other couples and adult families, which was very nice, and they were very pleasant. I've never had such a good view of a parade, and what a parade it was!

All in all we had a fantastic time, we know we got lucky at some parts, but it was a magical night and we definitely felt we got our money's worth! Thanks so much for all the helpful tips and encouragement! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! :wave2:

We just got back from our first MNSSHP on October 18th and had a BLAST. Four of us dressed up as the Village People and had a great time doing the YMCA and taking pictures with anyone who requested them.

We saw you! We were standing in front of Pecos Bill's for the 7:30 parade. Great shot of the Headless Horseman! He went by too fast for us to get a picture.

OMG, we weren't sure if we wanted to spend the extra money to go last week and I am soo glad that we did. My whole family had a blast. The fireworks and the parade alone were worth it. We rode everything except the Indy speedway and the ones that were closed during the party multiple times with less than 5 minute waits, mostly walk-on. We didn't do alot of characters but did do the dance party in tomorrowland and alot of trick or treating. They let us into the park at 3:45pm and we were able to FP Peter Pan for 5:10-6:10pm.

:rotfl2: How funny. It's a small world, after all, isn't it?

we had a blast......
We went on the 22nd.....

There were NO WAITSfor any rides.
The longest we waited was MAYBE 10minutersforPETERPAN I have never been able to do the park in so little time.

We also did a dance party and got to dance with CHIP or Was it DALE...

And had fun trick or treating.

IT IS A GREAT PARTY!!!!!!!!!

We went to one of the dance parties. There weren't a lot of kids around maybe 10. Well we ended up dancing with snow white and the 7 dwarves as well as the rabbit from Alice, donald and daisy. The kids had such a good time!

There's been some tweets. Hot & crowded. Here's where you can follow someone who's there...well, it's editing the link and I'm not sure why... but it's www.twitter.com/wdw daily news

but no spaces in wdw daily news

Here are a few pics I thought I'd share to help anyone with a party date coming up get excited. If this isn't the right place for these, just let me know and I'll delete them!

I was there on the 18th as well freezing! These are amazing photos!!! YOu must have a great camera!

First, let me say annnewjerz, your photos are amazing! We stood in the same spot for the parade and it was perfect! :thumbsup2 Now my photos are no where near as well as yours! :lmao:

As for the party last night, we had a terrible time. DS came down with a GI bug and we had to leave immediately following the first parade. No characters, no candy, no Hallowishes. :scared1: The only positive was DS has no idea how much he actually missed out on.

The crowd level was crazy! It was packed!!! Shoulder to shoulder everywhere. We were at MK on Friday evening and Saturday morning before the party and there were no lines! I think we waited 10 min for Splash Mountain. But during the party, the lines were unbelievable! And it was HOT!

I couldn't believe the amount of women in "costumes" that were not child friendly! Or the amount of people who would try to cut in front of your child right before the parade started! I think the heat made everyone cranky! :headache:

I would love to hear from those who were also at the party about the festivities that we missed out on!

Thanks! Nope, not a professional---although it'd be a job I'd truly enjoy if I was. :thumbsup2

It helps to be shooting with a much too expensive camera and lens combo. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry to hear about your DS and missing most of the party, but my favorite part of all was the parade, so at least you got to see that!

I agree about women in not-so-family friendly costumes, but I guess everyone has their own version of what is appropriate. I'm no child, but I had an issue with adults trying to edge in between me and the rope during the parade. I didn't mind if their children sat literally on my feet, but I stood for an hour to get my spot and no way am I going to let an adult with a pushy elbow nudge me out of my spot. No way, Jose!! :thumbsup2

My DH is on the couch watching football with the baby and my DS is napping on the couch. We are going to MNSSHP today and none of them know it!!! I cant even stand to keep my mouth shut. They think we are going to a Halloween corn maze in the middle of Florida. hehe.
Funniest thing is that my DH got up and wore a Mickey Teeshirt today!!!
Its 2:45 pm...we're out of here in about 1 hour. MNSSHP here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s my DS is Michael Jackson....pics to come soon!

I went to MNSSHP for the first time this year. I had a blast and will do it again next year. Thanks for all the great useful tips.

I just want to say thank you for all the tips about MNSSHP. It was our first party and it was just awesome. We went Oct 27 and the crowds were not too bad. We found out where Snow White was going to be and ended up being first in line! We will definitely be going back and already planning a tentative trip next Oct. Thanks again!

Thank you for all of the tips in this thread! We went to our very first MNSSHP on Oct. 31st and we had such a wonderful time! I dressed up as Belle (in blue dress), my boyfriend went as Gaston, and my sister dressed up as a sailor. The three hours before the party were not at all crowded, so we got to do a lot of attractions after we arrived at 4pm. The party was sold out of course, but we didn't feel crammed in at all. My only regret is that we didn't get more pictures of everything, but there was so much to see!! We definitely want to do the party again in the future, but as part of a larger trip. This year it was basically a quick weekend trip for our fall break/Halloween. But next time I'd like to devote more time specifically to pictures around the park. We loved the parade, it might be our favorite MK parade now!

My favorite part was seeing all of the awesome people and costumes there! So many creative and wonderful outfits!

Can't wait until we get to go to MNSSHP again someday! I'm going to save the tips list and keep it for next time. :goodvibes
