MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

I am such a dork! I wasn't thinking about the revived interest in Alice in Wonderland due to the new movie coming out, and I'm going as Alice and DD9 will be the mad hatter. I bet there will be a billion of us there! DH is going to be Mr. Incredible, DS5 will be Dash, and DS12 (who is 5'9") is undecided. He left the choice up to me and I'm thinking Jafar...

I do have a quick question for some of the more experienced DWers. I bought a two day base ticket for each of us and of course we all have a ticket for MNSSHP. We arrive on 10/30 and check out 11/1. Our original plan was DW on the 30th and 31st, Chef Mickey's 11/1 @ 9:35am, then home(south Georgia, so not a long drive). Due to the things I'm reading here I think all day long plus MNSSHP may be too much for the little ones. Now I"m thinking DW on 10/30 and 11/1, and on 10/31 relax that day, then arrive at DW at 4pm. Any ideas as to which is the better plan for the kids? I appreciate any ideas and thanks!:thumbsup2

By DW, do you mean the Magic Kingdom? Or just any WDW park in general?

Thank you so much to everyone for your great tips and tricks! Our family will be going on a cruise next year and will be back on the 30th. I will be buying tix ASAP for the 2010 MNSSHP, attending on the 31st. I was REALLY concerned about the crowds, especially Halloween being on a Saturday night. I think Disney does a good job not over selling tix. Hopefully it won't be crazy packed. Thoughts?

:upsidedow

My DS(7) and I went to MNSSHP last year on Halloween and it was sold out. I was very concerned about long lines and wait times, but I was pleasantly surprised. We were literally walking on rides such as Astro Orbitor and Buzz Lightyear and only waited about 10 minutes for Space Mountain. The candy lines moved very quickly and the only "long" waits we had were for the characters. My son opted to get out of line a few times, but for the most part I couln't have been more pleased with the crowd situation. So, I wouldn't worry at all about it being over-crowded. As usual, Disney works its magic and pixie dust and only sell enough tickets to make the night truly enjoyable for everyone. Wishing you lots of fun and much pixie dust!

We plan on going for the first time October 8th. We are flying in that day and wont arrive until 4:50pm and taking ME. We are planning to be at the park somewhere between 7:30 and 8:00pm with our printed e-tickets. Any good suggestions for late arrivals?
Prioritize. Be sure to fit in the things you want to do most, and if anything else fits in between then it's bonus. Personally, I would not have bought tickets for that night -- what if your flight is late? Eeek! But you can't change that now, so just be prepared with a list of your top to-do's and have fun whenever you get there! ;)

Unfortunately no...ya it is cutting it close but alas the tickets are already purchased oh well:confused3

I spoke with a cast member earlier this week, and she told me that guests can move their tickets to another day. Hope this helps. Call the reservation line, they'll be able to assist you.

Great thread, thanks! I was hoping someone could answer a question for me. Sorry if this has been addressed before, and I accidentally missed it. Are masks allowed as part of your Halloween costume? My friend's 4yr old son will be sooo disappointed if masks aren't allowed. I want to verify this info before I tell them. TIA

In addition to masks not covering entire head, they also must be kid appropriate. I know this isn't a problem for you since you're asking about a child, but for others reading this thread, it may be important. In other words, a mask should be G-rated.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!

I'll be attending my first MNSSHP on 9/4 and will post when I get back. However, I won't be back in work until 9/14, so won't be able to scan the map until then.

Better late than never!

Me Me Me......hopefully arriving early am, getting some rest, adr at CP 2:30.......first MNSSHP.

We'll count on you to give us the goods when you come back! It's right around the corner now, you must be so excited!

Hello --

I'm sorry if this has been covered before; I tried to search and couldn't find anything.

This will be our first MNSSHP (me and 8 y.o. son). We have a choice of attending either 10/31 or 11/1 -- would either be preferable? I am assuming both dates will be sold out so crowd levels will be the same. Therefore I am thinking 10/31 would be better just for the fun of attending on Halloween night.

Thanks for any input.

I know if I had my choice, I'd pick Halloween night. What better way to spend Halloween???

:)

Just bought my halloween Mickey window clings and a great treat bag. The treat bag is good size with a draw string and has the Fairies on it. They also had ones with Lightning Mcqueen. I love Walgreens. They have all sorts of Disney Halloween Decorations.:banana:

Are you serious? I have a few RR dollars I can use there.

I love to decorate my window during our vacation. Are they in the Halloween section?

Ok sorry to hijack but I need some insight.

I purchased my ticket for the 10/6 MNSSHP today on the website. I figured I'd go for the eticket route because I've never had a problem getting emails from disney before in the past and stupid me didn't do a screen capture of my confirmation #. Well tonight I go to print out my ticket and... no email. So is Disney going to be able to work with me tomorrow, no confirmation # in hand, or did I just pay $55 to click a button? :scared1:

The etickets worked perfectly for me.

Did you check your junk mail folder?? It's possible it went in there.

Sorry. :(

yes they are, They have several different clings. I chose the Mickey and friends design with the white back ground. They also have a black background and Pooh designs. They had a Jell one that was the vampire Mickey but with carrying it on a plane and them being so weird about gels I decided against it. The bags are nylon I believe and wasn't real thrilled about Tink design bu they have a drawstring which closes nicely for the rides. They have tons of other Disney Halloween decorations including little pumpkin lights shaped like Mickey.:dance3:
