MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

I just got my bags the other day. After I purchased them I heard one CM tell the other they could put them out now, but the one that sold them to me said it wasn't time to put them out yet, but anyone that asked for them they could sell them to.;)

Thanks disneynut for your list I just copied it and going to print it out later :cool1:

I do know that you can only see the Princes during special events: MNSSHP, MVMCP, P&PP etc. Maybe that is the only difference

I won't be doing the fairies during the party since I can see them at anytime during my trip. I am only trying to get to those characters that are Halloweenish (Villains & characters in "costume")

thanks for the other tips. I'm gonna add them to my list :)

Thanks again. I can honestly say that the 5 hours FLYS by!

I agree about the Fairies, and since we saw the princes last year...we will probably skip them this year. For me last year the 2 MUST sees were the picture in front of the HM after riding it, and Cindys carriage. This year, I want to dance at the parties more:)

Thank you so much for the recap, Nutz4Dizney!! I'm going to save it and print it out! The list of characters is especially helpful, since each of us wants to pick at least one or two must-see characters for the night. Now we'll know where to try and find them! Great job! :thumbsup2

And thank you to everyone who has posted tips so far. This thread is getting me so excited for my first MNSSHP!

Does anyone know if there are cast member discounts? We will be visiting DD who is actually working on the parade, and I don't think her regular main gate pass is good for special events.

Is it possible to do the cinderella coach, HM carriage photo and meet Snow white with the dwarves in one party?

Absolutely! This is what we did! And we were newbies and I had read hardly anything on MNSSHP!

We got into the parks around 5:00 pm. We found out from the CM where SW would be ( almost at the entrance to Toontown) and did some non MNSSHP rides etc and then at about 6:30...waited. So we were like 3rd in line. She came from around the corner with the Dwarves in tow, and lots of people following them. We got our picture with them right at 7:00 pm. We then waited for the Princesses, did the candy treat trail with Alice ( but a lot of these characters were switcing out) and met up friends for the fireworks, Villians show and parade. Or I might have that backwards a bit, but we stayed on Main Street and did all of these things. OH AND HERE IS ANOTHER TIP....THEY WERE DOING FREE BALOON ANIMALS THAT NIGHT ON MAIN STREET BEFORE THE FIREWORKS. After the fireworks, Villians Show and meet and greet and second parade we headed through Fantasy land to the carriage. We got our pictures there, and then went and rode HM. Immediately after riding that, we got our pictures with the horseless carriage. Then we did the Liberty boat candy stop, headed through to try to catch Tarzan ( but were too late) and rode Aladdin as the night came to an end. Somewhere in there we got pics with Pooh and Tigger in costume and rode the Tea Cups and SW. This year, I will skip the rides except for HM, and try to get more characters and dancing. Also skip the princes and princesses.

I'm getting ready to buy tickets for the first night of our 8 day stay. If I get there and it is raining, would I be able to exchange our tickets for another night?

I don't believe so, I will go upstairs in a bit and read the "fine print" but I believe the party is rain or shine.

That's what I'm afraid of. Most of us could/would attend in the rain, but I'd rather keep my infant dry. If you find any more info, please let me know. Thank you so so much.

I just went up and read the paper it does not say anything about rain or shine however I have done the party twice before and remember something about the weather in the "disclaimer" they read you when you purchase tickets. I would recommend you calling Disney reservations and asking them directly to be certain. My feeling is that unless they cancel the party you have to go that night if you have tickets for it.

If you find a candy line that isn't long you can go around more than once. They won't mind.

I would also bring a backpack to put the candy in, it's kind of a pain carrying those bags on and off the rides.

All my DD wanted to do was trick or treat. I felt like I way paying a LOT for that candy so we made a rule, we would fill the bag and then stop until we were ready to leave and thenm do one more round. That helped a lot. We got in early, repeated some candy lines, filled the little bag they give you and then moved on to the other party activities.

What an awesome thread! DS7 DH and I will be at the Oct. 27th party! Our first! This thread answered so many of our questions but I have two lame ones:
1.That late in Oct do I need to worry about DS7 being cold when the sun goes down?

2.Is there a thread with just pics of costumes from the party somewhere? Dying to see what others are wearing!!

I am trying to get DS7 to wear a Disney costume but he might be the Avatar! Hoping if he sees Disney costumes there it will change his mind!

putting that rule up front is a great idea.

My kid doesn't really eat candy. He doesn't chew gum, eat taffy or gummy type of candy. He basically sticks with M&M's, Reeses pieces and Smarties so I'm pretty sure I won't have any trouble putting a limit on his trick or treating. oh he also likes certain types of lollipops.

and no I'm not one of those parents that don't let her kid have candy he just knows some type of candy are worse for your teeth then others. Got to love his dentist for teaching him that at age 3 LOL

When we trick or treat here for Halloween we only go around the block. He picks the few items he likes then he gives whats left of his candy out to trick or treaters while I give the "house" candy out.

ME? I'm a HUGE chocolate freak LOL I saw some candies in the photos posted that I will be looking for LOL
