MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

ME TOO, but I am so bummed. I really want some, but we don't have a Disney Store in my area and they are not available online. I love living in a small town, but sometimes it's the pits!!!

I want some too, but I called the one Disney store around here (30 miles away) and they said they won't put them out for 3 weeks.....

We live in North MS and the closest one to us is in Memphis, TN (about 75 miles). I may have to think of a reason to go to Memphis before we leave.

On the disney visa rewards site they say they are going to have a costume preview party for Cardmembers on August 22. Maybe they will put out all there holloween bags that day. I hope so because I really want one or two of those bags before I leave on the 25

All of this info and these tips have been AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!!

DBF and I will be going to our first halloween party on 9/18!!!! (staying at POP 9/16-9/21) We are soooo excited!!! Hope to see some of you there!!!

If you enter the party at 4:00pm will they allow you (adults) to be in costume? We have Disneystore Minnie and Mickey costumes and I'm trying to decide if I should carry them in and put them on later.

Make sure that your costumes are comfortable in the Florida Heat. We went in 2007 and my girls both had the Eliabeth Swan costumes. Needless to say they didn't stay in them all night. We are going again this year and I got two HSM cheerleader outfits on clearance from the Disney Store. PErfect for the Florida heat.

Just booked our trip for our first MNSSH. So EXcited, however it is only offered twice during the week we will be there. the second of the two nights is perfect as it is my granddaughter's birthday. How bad is bad if it rains. How bad would it be for them to cancel/ Want to buy the tickets now, but sort of SCARED! thanks to all for any insight:confused3

Last year (Oct), I packed my Dollar Tree ponchos as I always do, but didn't really think about rain at the party. I bought tickets ahead of time, because it was the first trip DD and I did alone and I wanted to be 100% sure we got in. When our night came and it was looking like rain, we just sucked it up and went with it. It poured and then poured some more! We spent some time hiding under some walkways, but when it let up some, we hit the rides. We had the most fun in the dark, cloudy night with light rain. (ponchos are useless on Thunder Mountain, the hood blew off....but at some point, it just didn't matter and we welcomed the rain :lmao:) They ran the parades, though maybe a little bit late and eventually the rain stopped. We trashed our ponchos and went looking for characters for pictures. The park wasn't very crowded at that point. We found a lot of picture opportunities in back near Mickey's house.

My feeling is if you would be disappointed if you missed the party...buy your tickets ahead of time. If you would be ok if you missed it, then wait and see if one night is better than the other if it looks like rain.

If it was me, I'd buy the tickets for the night of her birthday. Rain or no rain, seems like a fun memory for a birthday!

I agree. We have also gone in the rain, though it was light rain, and had a great time. We decided to live with the rain and enjoy ourselves anyway.

WOW! Thats expensive!

We went to the party on October 19th. While the bag is really nice, there is no way I would of allowed my DW to spend $15 on that bag!!!!!

Maybe no one was buying them at that price and they had to get rid of them! LOL

I just asked DW if she remembers the price of the bag.... She said it was $5. So I was wrong........ what else is new?:confused3

If that's what you paid you got a good deal!:thumbsup2 I believe I paid $12.95 for mine. That was about my limit. I was bringing it home for DD(15) to use on Halloween since she's a dis nut and I didn't take her on the Sept trip.:rolleyes1:cool1:

Heck, I figure if it rains, I have the perfect costume - I'll go as a beach bum in my bathing suit! :rotfl:

Why at the local Disney Store  I found out about them thanks to the wonderful DIS :worship:

I read further and found that out. I am totally sad because we don't have one (and an outlet at that) for about 60 miles. Bummer! i do have the nice bag (the 12 dollar one) left over from last year. The bags they hand out really are good enough. (At least that is what i am trying to convince myself of anyway!!!)

I called my "local" Disney store 30 miles away. I'm glad I called first. They have them but refuse to sell them yet. They say they'll put them out in 3 weeks..... Not the world's best Disney Store....

Thanks "choirchic and "thedisneybunch" for posting your candy pics. Now I know it is worth trick or treating we will just have to sort through it all after to take out the taffy like things. I am just glad there is a good variety:goodvibes

Just called my local Disney store. They said the bags aren't out yet, but they are willing to get them for me when I come in, so everyone who's close enough to a store should call first.

Oh no ~ DDs appt. is for 5:30pm on our party night. I'm on hold right now to see if I can move the time up or switch to a different day.

IMHO I would move Heaven and earth to change it. Now, DW did not help matters any by extending the hours because demand was so high for that night. So they were booked up well past 9 p.m.

Demand is high.

i think I asked this in a nother thread, but does the fastpass system still work on the party nights? For example, if I get FP in Am and want to return later that eve to use them, will we be able to? Thanks in advance. Oh, here's my costume (FIRST TIMER!):

The cheshire cat!
I did not pay that for my costume tho! WOW!

Fast Passes are typically not needed on Party nights...you can walk right up to most rides and get right on. By the way...adorable costume!

Got three trick or treat bags tonight. I called this morning to ask if they had them and were they for sale. The CM told me they had them in the back, and if I came in, they'd sell them to me. Went tonight and she wasn't there. Another CM told me he'd check to see if they had them and then he'd check with the manager. He came out with 3 (just what I needed) and said the CM earlier today should not have told me they would sell them to me, but since I made a trip to the mall, they would.

He also asked me not to spread the word, because they're not supposed to be for sale yet. :rolleyes1 :guilty:
