MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

I was under the impression that trick or treating was available all night long, right up until Midnight and then there are more CM's with trick or treat candy on the way out??....

They were doing it all night long, but to a far lesser degree than what they were when the evening started. After the fireworks, it all seemed to just kind of fizzle out, and the CMs with the treats faded away. By mindnight you couldn't find a cast memeber with a compass.

On the way out, you are right, there were CMs with candy, but it's not the same as running around the kingdom for Trick or Treat.

Let me state here and now that we had a GREAT time! I know it seems like I'm trashing the party, but I am not. It's an AWESOME time. In fact, we had such a great time, we are doing it again this year, in two months.

My point is simply that the Bippity Boppity got swarmed with makeovers, pushing back appointments well into the party time. So, if that is on your agenda, do it EARLY, that's all.

Heck, I hope to see you out there.

BOO!!!:scared1:

Great thread!! DBF :cool2: and I :bride: will be newbies to the party this year. Can the adults attending the party and planning on wearing costumes post their ideas?

We're not sure whether or not we want to wear costumes (we're not very creative)... DBF is fine either way :confused3 although he has said he doesn't want to just wear cool t-shirts (which I would be fine with)... I just don't want to be too hot and uncomfortable all night.. Any ideas for us?

I think you're mistaken. There is a map with all of the trick or treat locations. Those locations will be giving candy for the ENTIRE duration of the party. I don't understand your perception of "more" before the fireworks. It's exactly the same.

We're like you. We want something, even if it's only a t-shirt but would rather something a little more creative. We want to keep cool as we are going 9/15.

Anybody with ideas?

I think peter pan & tinkerbell would both be cool, comfortable costumes to wear and something you could find at disney stores (online too) or your local party store for a generic costume.

Wohoo I just finished reading the whole thread.:upsidedow and thank you everyone for such great tip and pics :goodvibes
It made me feel better on my plan I had for my First MNSSHP. We are going on Sept. 4 and I planned to stay at the pool that day and to leave after 3 to get to the park at 4pm. We have ADRS for the plaza at 4:30 and Pirate Leauge at 6pm. I hope the make over for the kids doesnt take to long because I really want to be on line somewhere to get those special pics.

OMG 3 weeks to go and I cant wait

What would be the best day to go? Our dates could either be September 15 or September 18. One being a Friday and one being a Tuesday. Would it make a difference which day we go with it being early in September still? I was thinking less people would be at the Tuesday date but wasn't sure if that made a difference? :confused3

We were thinking the 15th because it's a tuesday.

I actually live in Frederick, MD. My sis is in Harrisburg and my parents are in Carlisle. We will be POR. Where are you staying at?

Oh, I love Frederick! I use to babysit for a family there when I was going to Seminary in Gettysburg. I really miss that area a lot. It's just too isolated in central PA!

We're staying at CBR in the new pirate rooms. pirate: We are so excited as this is only our second trip out. We went in January and are now completely addicted to WDW! I really cannot wait to MNSSHP. This board is feeding both my addiction and excitement!

Hi! I'll be there the same night. Hoping since it's the first party, many people won't be in the Halloween mood and it will be empty.

Me too:cool1:
Lets hope it works. :goodvibes
I extended our trip 2 days just for the MNSSHP.
We would had left on the 4th but now we are leaving on the 5th :woohoo:

A poster on a different thread mentioned that they were able to get a discounted ticket to MNSSHP on the day of the party due to low ticket sales for that nights party. Anyone else experinced this? How often? :confused3

I know they make appearances in Disney Land, but has anyone ever spotted Jack & Sally at the Magic Kingdom? I thought since their movie was halloween themed that they might be at the MNSSHP. It would be cool to see them there.:lovestruc

We went last year at Disneyland & had a blast!!! The kids had great "time" with the characters all decked out in Halloween costumes. What fun. Also, the Haunted Mansion is the best at this time of year!!! We will be attending again in '10 at Disney World. Quote as we left last year the night before departing home from CA--my almost 3 year old said "Mommy--can we do this every year for Halloween?" Wow--we have started an expensive Halloween tradition. So maybe every 2-3 years!!! Such fun!!!!!

Buy a couple Mickey Mouse Club T-Shirt and put you names on them...then get mickey ears at the party. You're set! You'll be Mouseketeers AND you'll be comfy in the Florida heat! :thumbsup2

So far we have 3 little girls going as Silvermist, Rosetta and Tinker"bella" (my neice's name is Bellatrix).
Aww! That sounds adorable. Be sure to post photos for us!

i went to Ohana's at 5pm, then went straight to MNSSHP. I didnt feel that we missed anything getting there after 4pm. I am thinking of doing this again this year. We'd be over to MK by 6:30pm. I remember seeing tons of regular people still be moved out of the park. They were not finished at 7 either.

Does anyone know if LTT will have characters on MNSSHP days? all day?

I read after going to MNSSHP that there was things to do on the ferry, is this still true?
I agree with getting there later, as long as you have enough MK time scheduled outside the party and don't need to do more attractions on party night. If you're really only there for the party atmosphere then there isn't any need to go so early, getting there between 6:00 and 6:30 is sufficient. If you need to squeeze in a little extra MK time then getting there at 4:00 and getting in with only a party ticket -- no MYW ticket or hopping needed -- that's different.

A while back there was a rumor that LTT would be bringing back the characters, and many of us were hopeful that it would begin with MNSSHP, but unfortunately that hasn't come about.

Some years they have storytelling on the MK riverboat, some years they don't. We probably won't know for sure about this year until the first party rolls around and we get a look at the party map. Isn't the riverboat scheduled for refurb though, in September? That would make me think there's probably nothing planned for it on party nights. If there was they probably wouldn't be refurbing it at this time of year, but you never know.

Quick question:

Can you use FP for rides during the party? We'll be at MK during the day, and it is our last day of the entire trip, so if we have some FP can we use them? Or I guess we may not need them, from the sounds of it, not a lot of folks do the rides.
No, no FP during the party. I really doubt you'd need them anyway. I don't think we've ever waited ten minutes for any rides on party nights anyway.

has anyone ever had a problem bringing their MNSSHP candy home in their carry-on bag?
No. We've done it numerous times.

I've never heard of it. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but I don't think it's standard policy.

I've never seen them. That would be great though!
