MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

I really want to dress up as a family. DD 8 is going to be Tink. IDK about the boys. I was thinking Peter Pan and maybe the crocodile, and I could be Wendy and DH could be Captain Hook. Found all the costumes but the croc, but DH's looks hot. Maybe I could be another fairy (a generic one), DH could be a pirate, and DS's could be Peter and littlest DS (1.5)could be?

a lost boy!

I'm so excited! This will be our first MNSSHP (and possibly last)! We are going Sept. 11th, anyone else? :cool1:

Boomer!

We'll be there on September 29th for sure, and if it's just too much fun, we may see if there are still tickets for October 1st.

I haven't decided on costumes for the kids. I know I'm making modified ones, though (aka t-shirt and shorts/tanks and skirts costumes) due to heat. Since they don't take much room, I may make a couple for each of the kids to match some of the character photo ops. Two months away...I better get started!!

Could he go as the crocodile?

I've read all 11 pages and I don't think I've seen this asked/answered.

Does candy ever run out? I see the tips about doing other stuff early and trick or treating later when the lines are shorter and some CMs hand out candy by the handful. But can you push it too far to where the stations run dry, or is there a set time they close for the night?

Thanks

Could the littlest go as Michael? A sleeper and a teddy bear and he'd be set! DH could be Mr. Smee...that might be a little cooler than Hook.

My kids are going as Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Wendy. DH might go as Mr. Smee, since it would be cooler than Capt. Hook and I would be Tiger Lily.

I think your littlest being Micheal would be cute or for the Crocodile just do a green t-shirt and shorts and find a green visor and use felt to put eyes and teeth on it.

Good question. My plan when I go this year is to wait until the last hour to get candy. Reading other people's experiences, it certainly seems that CMs err on the side of caution to make sure they don't run out. Can't say for sure though.

I don't think this is an issue...by the end of the night they're throwing handfulls into your bags to get rid of it!

I (23) am going to the party on Sept 4th with my boyfriend (26). It is the first one and I an scared to dress up. I have dinner at Liberty Tree at 5:10.

I don't want to get weird looks especially since it is an Alice costume that looks exactly like the one Alice wears herself in the parks.

Should I just throw it in a backpack and wear it after dinner? lol

Is anyone else going to the first party and dressing up? Thanks! lol

We'll be there on Sept. 4. Also have ADR at LTT for 5:30. My DD13 is dressing as a pirate. I'll be dressed in a black tshirt with florescent skulls all over it and my mom might dress up -- not sure as what -- possibly Smee. You won't miss us since we're both Pooh sized! :rotfl:

This is a great idea too! I knew the Dis'ers would have great ideas. :thumbsup2

Alice in Wonderland is my favorite character, but I think I would be a little odd as Alice in the Peter Pan movie.:rotfl:

Yay! I am making my boyfriend go as Sora from Kingdom Hearts! Look for us!

Disney is very particular about costumes that are too close to their characters, especially since Alice is out in the park during the party. Be sure to wear something a bit "different" so kids can know you're not a CM. (If you're not blond, that should be enough!)

In any event, you may be inundated by kids seeking autographs! Make sure that you don't indulge them, or you will be asked to leave the park!

Great thread.

Isn't anyone going on September 22nd? I've never been but want to do something special for the kids. BUT...my kids are 19, 17, and 11...lol. Do teens have a good time too?

I'm a little confused. If everyone "else" is allowed to stay in the park until 7pm, how are the decorations, and lights, and all the "magic" any different for the party than it is for everyone there that day?

We are going on the 22nd of September as well as the party later on in the week. :)

DisneyDreamer - LOVE your Sora idea!! I wish they had him in the parks somewhere, I would be just too excited. What day are you going? We're going on Oct. 6. Also, I'm 27 and I definitely dressing up for the party. It's our honeymoon trip and we'll both be in costume, even if it's something simple.

Just expect to be warned by staff. Don't pose for pics or give autographs or they will ask you to leave. Otherwise you'll be fine.

I'm wearing my Fairy Godmother costume, which I think is pretty realistic. But my hair is not ENTIRELY gray..... and I do wear glasses, so I don't think I have anything to worry about.

I think you'll also see a number of other very realistic looking costumes.....

To the poster with the realistic Alice costume: Just curious where you got it.....

I am "Pooh Sized" So I don't think it will be mistaken...unless I lose weight by then! lol

I was looking at yours, but I think my bust is 45-46 so your pattern won't work for me. So I found a lady who will make is custom for me.

I'm glad you found one! I was just curious. I run across customers on here every now and then and just like to say hi!
