MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

On the general TIPS, TRICKS and SECRETS, I have been well informed that the Hallowishes Fireworks show is also played on several Non-Party Nights too. Problem is they do not advertise which nights. So couple of things to bear in mind here.

If you have tickets to a party, and then go into MK on a non-party night to see regular wishes, you may be dissapointed as they may play Hallowishes again!

If you are not a party ticket holder but would like to see the Halloween Fireworks show, you may be lucky enough to get to see Hallowishes on a non-partynight without having to buy a party ticket.

I just had a quick question... is it very very crowded on October 31st? My gf and I would be attending out 1st party. Thanks!

We are staying at POP and going to MNSSHP on Sept. 22nd dressed as pirates. Son and 2 grand daughters have appointments at 4:00 for pirates league. We went last year and had a blast, can't wait to go again this year.

Do you think it would be too risky to wait until the day of to by tickets to MNSSHP on Sept. 18th? Does anyone think it will sell out?

I think yoiu should be fine. as it gets closer to Halloweeen I think there is an increased chance of a sell out but Sept is pretty early in the season. We are going to go on either 10/8 or 10/9 I have decided to wait until we arrive in FL to buy the tickets and decide which nite has the best weather forcast. Good LUck!

It's certainly not required, but no matter what your age, dress up in costume. You will get great interaction from guests, CMs and characters all night long.

I would also recommend that your costume be a little more original than say a t-shirt or the old pirate (no offense to all the pirates). And, if possible, wear it on Disney transportation on the way to the park around 4 pm. Very funny reactions from other riders.

Get there around 4 pm and eat at the park or eat around 4 pm off-site and get to the park after that.

Before 7, ride as many rides as possible. The lines will already be way shorter than they were earlier in the day and be next to nothing around 6-7.

Our family didn't care for the dance party stuff and found it easier to meet characters on other days at other parks, but loved to take advantage of the non-existant lines for everything but the Haunted Mansion. To each their own, though.

Obviously, don't miss the parade, fireworks or candy.

Bringing your own canvas bag (especially if it's Halloween themed) is probably a good idea. The bags they give you can probably hold about 2 pounds of candy if stuffed.

ok, so dh and i may dress up this year. He's not really the type to do it but said last night he would. I'm looking for something that won't be too hot for him. NO pirates, too common. I'm thinking of going as betty ruble. It looks like it would be cool.

I'll be there with my mom and my DD13 and we've already decided we are going to spend the day at CBR, resting, relaxing and swimming. We'll get to MK in time for Pirate League and then go about our day/night. With the heat and the party, we've decided a full day will just be too much. Enjoy!

Yeah, us too.... we're spending the day at the Poly pool relaxing. However, if our ressies are for the Pirates League 3:30 I really wonder if he'll make it all night.:) Maybe he'll go to sleep in the stroller! LOL!:)

Great thread.

Isn't anyone going on September 22nd? I've never been but want to do something special for the kids. BUT...my kids are 19, 17, and 11...lol. Do teens have a good time too?

I'm a little confused. If everyone "else" is allowed to stay in the park until 7pm, how are the decorations, and lights, and all the "magic" any different for the party than it is for everyone there that day?

That's when we are going! :cool1: Can't wait!

Thanks for the costume tips. I want to dress up in costume but I was debating to wear it in the park or change once we enter, mainly cause I didn't want any funny looks as too why I would be in a costume.:confused3 But thanks! My dad and I are staying at the GF, and You have convinced me to ride the monorail in my costume to the MK for the party! Bring on the funny looks!

Interactions with CMs, characters, you say? Can't wait, I love any chance to interact more with the characters, and I love talking to the CMs.

Thank you! :goodvibes

We are attending Sept 25th (Our first party!) and already bought our tickets, can't wait to meet any fellow disers that are attending on that date! :thumbsup2

Boomer!

We'll be there on September 29th for sure, and if it's just too much fun, we may see if there are still tickets for October 1st.

I haven't decided on costumes for the kids. I know I'm making modified ones, though (aka t-shirt and shorts/tanks and skirts costumes) due to heat. Since they don't take much room, I may make a couple for each of the kids to match some of the character photo ops. Two months away...I better get started!!

Sooner! We are from Norman too! How old are your kids? We will be in the World Sept 20-26 - can't wait! :yay:

My mom and I are going on the 25. It wil be our first party, also! I'm pretty sure we aren't dressing up, but I do have several costumes that I might throw in at the last minute...

Do all the events usually sell out? What are the chances of buying tix at the gate the day of the party? Any help here will be appreciated...

We are sharing your resort and the same MNSSHP. Perhaps we'll cross paths

These have been awesome tips. I am taking my family to MNSSHP the night before our cruise in October. I'm excited.

Should not be an issue BUT I bought early and saved me $35......:thumbsup2

Here is a question I haven't seen yet...Do you have to use the bags that are provided for trick o' treating or can you bring your own ? I was wanting my daughter to use the Jack O'Lantern I used as a kid.
