MNSSHP Oct 11 NOT so great...long...anyone else have problems?

Ha! We had almost the same post! Totally with you!

We were at the party on the 4th as well. It was pretty funny to see the angry mobs descending on town hall. Yeah it wasn't the smoothest party ever and it was wet. But dang it my wife and I had a great night. And the fireworks rocked. We are still enjoying the candy we got that night. It is all about enjoying what your given. I don't get to Disney as often as I want so I was just super excited to be enjoying a night that was different and exciting.

The fireworks WERE awesome. And because everybody was at Town Hall complaining, we waked into primo seats for the fireworks right on Main St. :thumbsup2

We were also at the party on the 11th. Didn't encounter any of the issues the OP is complaining about. We didn't get much candy but that was only because it wasn't a focus for us. Had a group of 15 there and everyone had a wonderful time. They were giving out candy at the exit. We got a few pieces on our way out at 11:45. We were also able to get on the first bus to Riverside.

We also went on Monday...just my son and I. Had a fun night. Got tons of candy even though we started late. We were literally the last ones through the fantasyland treat trail. They shoveled candy in our bags until they emptied the barrel at the first two stops. The third stop they had already rolled the barrels away. The CM told us that meant they had already given all the candy away.

As for the crowd...Monday was definitely more crowded than Thursday was. Sorry you had such a bad time. But I don't think Disney should shoulder the blame.

We were at the party on the 11th and rode pirates and Splash We left at about 11:45 and had no issues getting out of the park.

I went to the party on the 21st. Rained for first two hours. First parade cancelled, second parade slammed/crowded. No Headless Horseman. No Villains shows. Hard to find characters, as they moved to get out of rain. Long candy lines. Candy got wet.

Left with smiles all around. Attitude is everything.

Love this post! My philosophy on life!!

I was at the party on the 12th and honestly horrified at the several people who said "chocolate only!" to the CM. One lady even held her hand up like a stop signal and said it loudly and rudely. I thought WTH - if you are really here or the chocolates - save your money and buy a few bags of candy.

That attitude is probably why you had that experience wit a CM with a request for a certain candy.

While I think disputing the charge is not appropriate (it will be interesting to see what happens), I agree that Disney does have to do something with the transportation issue. If they can run the both monorails late when the park closes at 11:00-12:00, they can run them late on party nights. It's ridiculous to shut down the express monorail with a park full of people.

You should have been there on the 4th. Despite the weather and problems, we had a ball and we plan on doing it again next year. Suffice it to say that what you faced can't even hold a candle to those of us that were there on the 4th. The thought of a refund never crossed our minds.

In my opinion, and I see it on here all the time; people set a bar so high for WDW that it is unreasonable to expect anyone to be able to stand up to it. It's sad really.

AMEN!!! When I found out people had gotten a refund i was shocked! We never thought we could get a refund or even another ticket because of weather related closures. We stayed and got wet and had fun! I did have some feedback for Disney as a first time halloween partygoer (done xmas party many time), so I sent them an email this week when I got home.

I think this could be applied to so many things. I took a group to France and Italy in 2003 and there were some bumps in the road, mainly that the Parisians were picketing government cuts to their pension. We show up to the Louvre and they've blocked all the ticket booths, so we couldn't go in. Many of our group left to go do other things, but I stuck around to use the restroom and get some euros. The next thing I know, I'm being herded through the security line and up into the Louvre--FOR FREE! I was completely alone in most of the Roman area and it was great. The rest of the group went off and never made it back to the Louvre and a few complained about it the whole trip. Your vacation is what you make of it and, if you hit a few bumps, only you can let it ruin your vacation.

We had one of our favorite Disney moments ever at a MVMCP party on the coldest night of December 2010. We found out later they had been giving out comp tickets in City Hall. Didn't care one bit. We had more than gotten our money's worth.

I just love the way the weather thins the crowds sometimes! Not enough to wish for more cold weather mind you....... ;)

I had an incredible time at the October 11th MNSSHP. I was able to get candy from every stop, rode the Haunted Mansion, got pictures with well over half the characters and saw the parade and fireworks. All of the cast members were friendly and polite, despite how hot and humid it was.

I am glad that there were some that had a good time at the party.
The only reason we stayed for the entire party was we were stuck on several rides, and then we were stuck in the back of the park.
I did not know about the Monorail...thanks for the info on the closing. Now we know and will plan for that in the future...

I do not want a full refund. I would like not to have CM pander to me. When the CM at GS in City Hall tells me that they are very aware of the many problems with that party but they won't take my name or info and they have no plans but to "look into" it and will not be able to let me know what happened I do get upset. Emily, the CM also said that she alone had recieved more complaints then she had every had about anything in the following 2 days after the party. All I wanted was for someone to take my name and let me know what happened, and how they plan on fixing it. But she said they had to many complaints to take names. Thought that was a little strange.

I don't think the CC company will refund the charge, and I do agree that we did stay, and that we do not deserve a full refund. I would like to know what happened, and what they plan to do about all the problems. We might have just hit every ride at the wrong time, and got to the candy lines just after they closed. But when they have problems with Splash, Pirates, Space, Buzz(think I forgot about that one..),and Mansion, then there are problems that need to be addressed.

WE did have CMs with us and THEY were shocked at how badly other CMs were and how bad the rides went....

So I what I would really, really like is for WDW to wake up and realize that if you close some rides on a party night, or if POTC has been up and down all week as it has been, then add JC back in or some other ride. And fix things.

We were not rude to CMs- I think CMs are what make WDW a great place! We have CMs and former CMs that stay with us when we are down at WDW, and some come stay with us when we are at home.

We just had very bad timing all night, and the rest of the week has been about the same...and are more then a little shocked when the last 8 years of MNSSHP have been so wonderfull. We are lucky that we get to come down so offten and have PAP so we can come and go as we like. So when things go so very wrong it is a big shock. Everyone has bad nights, but this is a big regular thing WDW does so it would be great if they had some backup plans for when so many rides go down. CM Emily also said most of the rides had been up and down all that night, so maybe we did get lucky with the few we were on that didn't stop or were up when we hit them.?

Then write to Disney. Don't waste the time and resources of your bank's chargeback/dispute department when you don't have a valid reason.

Would you like to be called in to work on your scheduled night off because another part of the business was available only intermittently? Because another poster had no trouble riding PoC the same night you say it was closed - and not every CM knows th Jungle Cruise script.

There isn't a single experience you mentioned for which it appears WDW owes you an explanation - but go ahead and write to them anyway. Instead of the few minor disappointments, perhaps you could lust all the things that you did, that went well, that you enjoyed?

I fully agree. Personally I feel that refuting a charge with the credit card company is just blatantly lying to them. I don't really feel any of these issues are deserving of any sort of compensation...especially when it was admitted that they may have hit the rides at the wrong time and got to the candy line after they had closed.

Then write to Disney.

This is what I did.

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

The subject line was: Feedback on Mickey's Halloween Party 10/4/12

I detailed our experience, my two points of feedback, and what I expected from them (their time in reading my concerns and addressing them).

I don't know how one could be "stuck" anywhere other than physically ON a ride...But that's another issue I suppose.

I was thinking about writing, only because my big complaint was that when we left the Haunted Mansion, there was torrential rain and horrific lighting, and there was a CM screaming at us to move. We ran to another covering, then a supervisor came and pulled all the CM's inside, saying it was too dangerous for them to be outside, then turned to us and said "You guys are going to have to move, we need to set up a trick-or-treat station here."

The whole group of like 30 of us was like wait, it's too dangerous for the CMs to be out, but it's perfectly OK for us to run around?

Then when we found supervisors when the lightning (but not the rain) had let, up they cut us off point blank and said policy forbid them from being out and helping us because of the rain, thunder, and lightning. When we said we'd been forced out of various coverings by numerous cast members who were trying to set up other things, they said "Yeah, we need to keep areas clear in case we can set up for the party later, but we really can't talk. It's against our rules to be out in this. You should find covering too... But not in this area. Try Tomorrowland."

I get, appreciate, and support not having CMs out in that kind of weather, and they really shouldn't have been. It was flat out dangerous at times. But don't go talking about dangerous it is for you and your CMs, then expect me to go out in it! LOL!

~LOL. Thanks for the update, OP. Your second post sounds a lot more reasonable now that you have calmed down. I figured you were just venting and never believed that you would dispute the charges, that's just too extreme. Based on your first post, it sounded like you were experiencing "Buyer's Remorse" more than anything else, especially if you bought eleven adult priced tickets. :goodvibes
