MNSSHP Non-Disney Costumes?

Why does everyone think there is a rule about masks?

Jack Spence reported from opening night. He listed the rules as:

Because there are. :confused3 You just listed one in the info you quoted. :rotfl:

Mask rules are that they cannot impair your vision and that they must be child-friendly. Actually, ALL of your costume must be child-friendly.

The mask rule seems inconsistent. My DH wore his Skeletor mask all night and no one said anything about it. And in fact he got a lot of positive comments on the costume from CMs. However, I think you have to be prepared to have it enforced.

Let me rephrase... why does everyone think you cannot wear masks? You can wear a mask, as long as you can see.

1. Child appropriate costumes (No hookers and pimps)
2. No masks covering your face ( they DO enforce this)
3. No simulated weapons (guns specifically)

You can have a mask over your face, it just can't cover your eyes and destruct your vision.

I am so confused. :rotfl: Where are you seeing that "everyone thinks you cannot wear a mask"? The only thing I read that was close to that was xipotec's post and I think they meant you couldn't wear a mask completely covering the face, including the eyes. I don't remember reading any posts where someone said that masks were not allowed at all. :confused3

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

WHEN ARE YOU GOING??

:wave2:

We'll be at the Nov 2 party. I'm so excited! DH is Jayne (we got him the "Fighting Elves" shirt for Father's Day), DD is Zoe, DS1 is Mal, DS2 is Wash and I'll be either Kaylee or Inara, depending on what I can find to wear.

I was able to find kid costumes at Target for Zoe and Mal, that I can alter a bit to match better. We won't be Cosplay good, but I think people who like the show will know who we are.

Firefly is my very favorite show.

Okay, I interpretted his post to say, "You cannot wear a mask over your face." (Where else do you wear a mask?) And then you were right there backing him up.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that you can wear a mask as long as it doesn't block your vision.

Wording/interpretation issue... continue the thread. :rotfl:

I must be having an off day. My brain is seriously slow this morning. :rotfl2: Did you read the whole thread? I was the one who said to check the mask rules and then I stated what they were. I never said you couldn't wear one. This is one of those moments where I wish I liked the taste of coffee. Maybe a McDonald's Coke will suffice. :rotfl:

Have a great day, everyone! :goodvibes

We'll be attending on Nov 2 as well, we'll look for the crew. In my opinion, FF was the best thing Whedon has done (well, besides Toy Story).

You should totally be Kaylee in the episode where she had the huge petticoat dress.

No, I think I was confused last night (it was really late) when I read the entire thread. By "right there backing him up," I meant you quoted that person and agreed with them.... you were talking about your Peter Pan sword. I clearly just misinterpretted everything, but it sounded to me like you were saying that you couldn't wear a mask on your face.

Don't mind me - I'm all cleared up, now.

(I was reading "rules about masks" as "rules against masks")

My brother is going as Captain Mal! It was the only costume he agreed to wear at the party. We'll be there Oct 18.

He really wants a gun with his costume. Our plan was to buy one of the Indiana Jones guns from DHS to put on his belt. That shouldn't pose a problem, right?

My kids are going as Micahel Jackson and Elvis (Vegas style Elvis!) and I am going as a Birthday Girl (no special costume - just my sash & tiara princess: )

As for the Big Bang costumes, Sheldon is easy enough but how do you go as Penny to be recognized? Wearing a Cheescake Factory outfit or :confused3

I completely agree. The people who decided to cancel that show should be strung up.

That "layered cake" was hilarious. It's beyond my meager skills, but what a great idea if I ever get good at sewing.

Yeah, I'm not sure we'll do toy guns. They can't be mistaken for real, but each CM is going to have a different idea about that. They sell that stuff in the park, so I don't see how they can say it can't be part of a costume. I think we'll play it safe and go unarmed. We'll be in "hanging out on board" mode as opposed to "doing crime" mode.

I'm so excited...We're going to the party tomorrow night. I just finished sewing lights onto my son's Peter Pan costume last night (why just dress up when you can glow!). My whole family is going as Peter Pan characters and will all light up in some way!

We are going to the party on November 2! It will be our first party! This trip is celebrating our one year anniversary as husband and wife! :goodvibes

We are going as Yoshi (me) and Mario (DH)

B-b-b-but what will Jayne do without Vera?

Here is what the recording was/is for the party rules on costumes. It may have changed in the past couple of years. Best bet is to call and confirm if you have doubts!
