Ok

Now that we have all booked our tickets, lets get into the costumes!

This is my first time to the halloween party, and we are taking my two neices jordan and joely with us (chris will not dress up) and Im wondering what to go as?

what are you going as and where do you get your costumes?

does anybody have pics of what people wear?

also do you fetch your own trick or treat bag?

dead excited, but have to start thinking costumes if I have to get one made

:smickey: hi
trick or treat bags are provided. when wearing costumes remember it can still be very hot and sticky so you don't really want heavey layered costumes, also you will probably going on rides, so make sure the costumes are not too long, so they don't get caught in ride machinery or trip you up, specially children. lots of people wear halloween t-shirts from walmart or target plus deely bopper head dresses. you can get adult hats at above stores. if you want complete costumes you can get them there too, much less expensive than in the u.k.

I'm going crazy trying to decide what to wear!

DD was 13 m.o. last time and we got her a Tinker Bell costume at DTD - it cost a fortune for a baby's outfit, though! DH and I just wore regular clothes. :)

This time, we're dressing up - even DH! :thumbsup2

But, what to wear? Decisions, decisions..... :lmao:

wait til you get over to florida, walmart k-mart have loads and loads of fantastic costumes! we got a pirate costume for dh, pumpkin one for me  eldest dd went as a grease girl and youngest dd medieval princess, i think they cost roughly between $10-$20 if that each!

As i work at Asda we get to use our discount cards in Walmart around the world :cool1: So we will be waiting till we get there and buying them from Walmrt. I don't know if DH and FIL will dress up but us girls will be :cheer2: DD just wants to go as a princess, This is her answer to anything dressing up.

Is it very easy to get costumes for adults when you are over there?
there are loads of costumes for adults as well as children. the american theme on halloween is to dress up in anything, more like fancy dress, not like here where its the usual witches, devils scary masks etc.
you will be amazed at all the halloween stuff in florida!
we seen "glow in the dark" real huge pumkins in the supermarket!

will it be easy for us that are going to the first two partys to get outfits in the shops as it will be only early september?

I have seen a nice sally from nbc costume on ebay,

and what about size 18 + costumes are they available

Halloween is big in the US - costumes will be on sale from the beginning of September. We were there at actual Halloween last year (arrived on Oct 13th) and most of the costumes were selling out fast. Most of the costumes are a very stretchy lycra material and come in adults up to 3xl. A UK size 18 is probably just an XL. I was heavily pregnant in Oct (usually an 18) and the 3x top I bought was too big.

As has been said, costumes are not themed on "ghosts / witches" as much - its just general fancy dress. Lots of people in the parks dressed as Disney characters and were sooooo good you could barely tell the "real" characters from some of the general public's ones! We saw a fantastic Donald Duck, Malificent, Jasmine and Snow White.

Although they provide candy bags at the party, its worth buying the 79cents plastic pumpkin buckets from walmart as the bags provided are really small and split easily.

Just a word of warning: DS(9 at the time) bought a costume from a fancy dress shop in the Florida mall, out of his own money. It was a sort of scary zombie type thing ,everyone going across on the paddle steamer thought that it was really cool but the CM at the gate didn't think so! She made him take it off,I had to go in & buy him a t-shirt & trousers,as he only had his pants on underneath - Pretty much ruined his night as well! It seems that some guests MAY have found it offensive but Freddy Kreuger was in abundance!
SD :firefight

We are probably going as pirates - seen some fairly cheap costumes on ebay and on plenty of UK party fancy dress sites. Main thing for us is that they need to be cool and comfortable (and not make DH look stupid - not that he needs any help on that one ;) )

Would love to see photos of everyone's costumes. I'm sure you will have a great time :)

I'm very happy as I have been searching for a Kim Possible cheerleader outfit for DD6 for a while and finally got one this morning on Ebay. DS4 will be going as Harry Potter as I just got him the new Goblet of Fire costume. Yea for ebay :woohoo: Now I just have to choose one for me, liking the idea of a pirate wench at the mo...
