We are planing our 4th trip to WDW in late Sep. It's me, DH, DD9 & DD 6. We try new things with each trip and did US/IOA last time in addition to WDW. I was following the reviews of the parties and they sound pretty neat with the different offerings & atmosphere but the overall impression it's too crowded and oversold. If we did the party it would most likely be our only Magic Kingdom day. If we do Legoland, Seaworld or something else we would do a regular Magic Kingdom day. I can't visit Orlando without seeing the castle!! Which would you chose? Or what else would you suggest?

I'm a huge MNSSHP fan, but If your kids like Legos they are a great age for Legoland. Our kids were about that age and were the perfect size for the rides. We won't go again because I think they have outgrown it. We spent hours in Miniland.

Thanks! Thats why I was thinking about Legoland, as it might before our last opportunity to go be they outgrow it but then again after doing most of the rides at WDW and US I'm wondering if they will find it kind of boring. But on the other hand, we try to do a family costume for Halloween each year (at home, never at Disney) and I thought it might be kind of cool to do for the party (I guess that is if they will still allow costumes for adults at parties then). I want to do something new just not sure where to use the time or money. Looking for more input from people who have done these things!

We've done MVMCP, Legoland and Sea World. With the age of your kids, I'd definitely go with Legoland. They are a great age for it. It is very different from Disney. My kids noticed the rides weren't the same quality, but there were tons and tons of Lego constructions that were impressive. I'd also not want to give up a whole day at MK in exchange for the party, especially since your kids seem like they may be young to make it until midnight (maybe not, though). Whatever choice you make though, hope you have a great time! (Oh and if you go to Legoland and if you like apples, try the apple fries--they are so good!)

MNSSHP was fantastic years ago. Recently it has really just gotten ridiculously oversold. If you luck out and get a low attendance night you would have a blast. The Boo to You parade is awesome but honestly it was sooo crowded the last 2 time we went that we have given up. We even tried going pretty early (around when you plan) back in 2014 but it was just wall to wall with people and the kids just hated it. On the other hand... if you get a decent night it really is a cool thing for the kids to experience.

Seaworld is also a great place and it really is a one day park. Legoland always gets great reviews from folks that have been there. I just saw some commercials that they have a new ride or attraction based off the Lego movie so if your kids like that, it might be a difference maker in your decision.

Legoland is fun! Though hours are reduced compared to other parks. We had an AP the first year it opened. We had so much fun and it has more to offer now than back then. The drive is much further away from WDW than the drive to Sea World or Universal. But I think it's worth the drive.

Having been to all the parks and MNSSHP, my son would choose MNSSHP even on a sold out night.

I have also done all of those with kids your age. Another vote for LL! My 8yo requested we go back AGAIN (his 4th time I think?) next month after DCL. It is a special place for me and him there (my 11 yo has been but doesn't come anymore) There is a good thread on budget tickets on the Orlando forum. Him and I are also going to take that $5 shuttle from International Drive (we are staying at Universal) and see how that goes. I did not like the drive but hanging on my iphone for the duration of the trip sounds doable.

Personally I would say MNSSHP, but your kids really are at a good age for Legoland and time to visit that park is limited, so I'd take them this trip.

I'd skip Seaworld until they remove the dolphins and killer whales.

Legoland would be great for the age of your kids.

MNSSHP would be my first choice, but I'd still schedule more MK park time.

Legoland is fun and it's a shorter day. Though I have to say I HATE the drive. It's not long, but most of it is on a road with lots of lights so it's lots of stopping and going which just bugs me (Legoland is kind of in the middle of nowhere). I don't know how late in the year the legowater park is open, but it looks really cool (we haven't done it because we've never been there the right time of year). It's expensive, but adding a night at the Lego hotel may be fun. It's super cool!! Probably my favorite part of Legoland!

Sea world stresses me out with all the planning and timing to see all the shows. I don't find it relaxing at all.

We've never done the halloween party, but my son (7 at the time) couldn't handle the Xmas party. He doesn't handle late nights in general well so I knew I was pushing it, but he actually fell asleep on the ground while waiting for the parade. We did see all the characters we wanted to see and rode a few of the busier rides, but it was mostly a bust for us. Fun, and glad I did it, but I wouldn't do a party again until he's old enough to really handle late nights. Your kids may handle night time better though.
