Hi! I'm sure this has been asked before, but I've been away from the boards for awhile. I was wondering who has made their costumes for MNSSHP from scratch and what are they? I'm still working on ours - we're going as characters from A Nightmare Before Christmas. The hubby & I are going as Jack & Sally, and the kids are Lock, Shock & Barrel. I bought the Jack & Sally costumes online, (not the DS ones) and am adding to them. I am making the kids' costumes out of sweats. Here's what I've got done so far (still working on Lock's tail)...

This is what the characters look like in the movie...

and here are my Shock & Barrel...

I'm going to add black pipe cleaners as hair to Shock's hat, and since we can't wear masks at WDW, we're going to wear make-up. I just hope it's not too hot on Halloween!!!

I'd love to see anyone else's home-made costumes!!!

Very Cute!
Well we are not doing MNSSHP this year, but I will post a picture of my kids homemade costumes when they are done.
They are going to be sportacus and stephanie from lazytown on Nick!!

Have fun at the party! We went last year and it is SO fun!

Great job on your costumes!

My DH is going as a pirate and DS(4) is going as Peter Pan. We purchased both of their costumes. I am going as Wendy Darling and DS(1) is going to be Michael Darling. I made our costumes. My favorite piece of all of the costumes is my DS(1)'s trick-or-treat bag. I bought a teddy bear at Build-a-Bear but did not get it stuffed. I then handstitched a cloth pouch in the bear and added a zipper up his back. Now "Micheal Darling's" teddy will have 2 purposes: costume accessory and candy holder.

We can't wait to dress up as the Neverland crew and go to our first MNSSHP on 10/26!!! pirate:

Those are great costumes!! You guys will look awesome.

Here is a pic of my DD in her costume (Evil Queen) and my DS's costume (Magic Mirror).

Last year, we went as Disney VISA cards which I made out of a posterboard that I hand-painted. It ended up costing me about $6 for 4 costumes and they were a hit! This year we are all going as Chef Mickey with monogramed chef hats and painted aprons. This was a little bit more expensive at about $55 for 5 costumes.
We will wear them next week!!!::yes::

I and my wife are going as Jack and Sally as well and I heard that masks were not allowed in the parks...can anyone confirm this either way? I have made a Jack masquerade type mask (on a handle so you can just hold it up) but I was curious if the mask(over the head type) that came with the costume would be allowed or not.

There was much controversy of the mask thing last year as well.
We were afraid my DH wouldnt be allowed in...but he was!

We were at the 10/1 party this year. I can tell you that we saw about 10-15 people w/ masks. I know because each time DS (11) was sure to point them out. He really wanted to wear a mask and I told him they weren't allowed. So he made a point to show me each person wearing one. As well as each person wearing something scary (because he wanted to do that too and I wouldn't let him). Personally I don't know how some of the people did it. When we were at the party both this year 10/1- and last year 10/31 it was very, very HOT!!! I think the low the night we went this year was only going to be mid 70's. When we arrived at 4pm it was 92 and very sunny. I don't know how some people had their kids in heavy costumes.

Last year, I was Mike (from Monsters, Inc.). I dyed a long sleeved t-shirt green, put a big eyeball on the front and horns on the shoulder. I was very warm in the long sleeves. DH was the EAC ( East Australian Current) from Finding Nemo. I dyed a t-shirt blue, sponged turtles in a line (going from bottom to top), put a group of pink jelly fish to the side. I also spelled out EAC with little silver fish shapes. He wore a stuffed Crush as a hat.
DD costume was bought.

These were easy to pack in the suitcase. I have a picture but the scanner is not working. Sorry.

Hi again! I burned the midnight oil last night and almost finished my Sally costume. Like I said before, we bought the Jack & Sally costumes online, but I can never leave well enough alone and had to modify mine. It 's made out of a really thin material, and had a solid pink back, which I didn't like, since everything is dark in Halloweentown. I took it apart and sewed the front top to a black shirt and the front bottom to a black skirt. I painted her stitches on a blue turtleneck and blue sweats that I'll wear underneath the dress. I'm going to wear blue eyeshadow on my face and draw her face stitches on with black eyeliner. My hair is already long and dark brown, but I'm thinking of getting it dyed a reddish tint. We take Halloween very seriously over here!!!

-I'm glad to hear there will be another Jack & Sally couple heading to WDW! We bought the Jack mask, too, but decided not to bring it. My hubby's going to wear white make-up and we're going to spray his hair with temp white hair color.

-I'm confused about the mask rule, too. I have seen CM's ask people to take off their masks for 'safty' purposes, so we never tried to bring any. In the past, we've done the mask on a stick thing instead.

-Wow! Everyone looks GREAT in their costumes and you guys have really cool costume ideas! We should have some kind of costume gallery here on the DIS!!! I love Halloween!!!

-Michelle

P.S. Looking forward to meeting you and your family on Halloween momof2OH! Thanks for setting up the meet!

As promised! Here are our homemade costumes this year!
