I quite fancy going to the MNSSHP but is it more aimed at kids? I'd be going with my travel companion and we've never experienced an American Hallowe'en before so we thought it might be fun but we don't want to pay the extra $60 only to find that it's all kids stuff there.

It depends what you mean by kids stuff.

It's Disney so we're not talking Halloween Horror Nights, it's all family entertainment and 'It's not so very Scary' ;)

Saying that though it's great fun.

There's the trick or treat stations, Halowishes, and the Boo to You parade (probably the best parade that WDW do IMO, look out for the grave diggers).

And of course it's the only time of the year that adults can go to MK dressed up which is hilarious!

The first year I went my partner and I went as Snow White and the Wicked Queen, it was so much fun!

So thought it's not got anything that's specifically adult oriented it can be a heck of a good time. :)

Jellifer,

MNSSHP is not just aimed towards kids. I'm a single adult and enjoy MNSSHP very much. The normal rides are open but Disney adds a special Halloween parade, an opportunity to collect candy (if you choose) and for adults and children to dress up which is my favorite thing to do.

DH, DS (adult) and I absolutely loved MNSSHP! I would do it again in a heartbeat. The parade was amazing and the fireworks were great. The entire atmosphere is different and the CMs really get into it. We had a riot! Go. I think you'll love it! (and yes, we did Trick or Treat and it was loads of fun!)

It's a smashing good time for adults...and a little tip...the normally ridiculously long lines for popular rides suddenly go to walk-ons, while the majority of the people take their kids 'trick-or-treating' around the park. I walked on in a little over an hour: Pirates, Haunted Mansion (twice), Splash (twice), Philharmagic, Peter Pan, and Jungle Cruise...and still had plenty of time to go get myself a Dole Whip and stake-out a bench for viewing the fireworks, then moved to main-street and pulled up a curb for the parade, and then rushed the castle stage for a Villains dance party...where we boogy-woogy-oogied until 12:30. :dance3:

My mom and I did MNSSHP 2 years ago and LOVED it:yay: It was great. The halloween parade is definitely one of the best they do!!

It's a great time to be able to dress up a little, or a lot. I will definitely be doing it on my trip down next year, and probably be doing it solo!! Can't wait

I have not gone to MNSSHP yet, but my husband and I are hoping to do so this year.

According to a former co-worker who worked at Disney World before he came to work at Universal with me, MNSSHP is nicer while HHN is more exciting. Considering that he was 53 when he told me that he really liked Mickey's Halloween while I am guessing that you are much younger, I expect that you would find it to be an adult-friendly celebration. If you want to dress up, adults are apparently allowed in on the trick-or-treating over at WDW so here's your chance to have the full American Halloween experence that you spoke of. I want to go primarily to see HalloWishes.

I went for the first time last year, we had a choice between spending a whole day (on another day because MK closes early) or spend a night there for the Halloween party.

We hardly do anything with Halloween where im from but i can only repeat what people stated above. It was great fun and amazing to see the folks dressed up. It doesnt matter if you wear a costume or not.

Its also a great moment to just go on rides, things tend to be a bit more quiet and we managed to do all the bigger rides and the special events.

If youre worried about the price, it is about equally to a full day but its definitely worth seeing at least once. Ill never forget the the Boba and Jango Fett costumes i saw of a dad and his 4 yr old, coolest thing ever.

Oh, absolutely go and enjoy yourselves!

A couple years back my friend and I (her late 20s, me early 30s) went to MNSSHP and had a blast: dressed up, trick-or-treated, got the character photos, and walked onto every ride we wanted. The parade is fun and the fireworks show awesome.

And we didn't feel the least bit self-conscious about being adults with no kids. In fact, I'm not sure the thought would have occurred to us!

They're right! Our party consists of all adults and we all dress up. For a die hard Halloween fan like myself, it doesn't get much better than MNSSHP. Trust me, if you're self conscious, no one is going to even notice you. There's too much going on!

The Boo To You Parade is, IMO, the BEST parade WDW has. It's great!! :goodvibes

Thank you for asking this question. My sister, brother-in-law and I are treating my parents to a Disney trip in Oct. '13 and want to attend the party. I was hoping adults could enjoy it too. We will definitely dress up! :yay:

I completely agree. it is my favorite parade. It is also a terrific way to experience the MK. The lines are simply not there. We usually ride everything we want in less than two hours and still have plenty of time to enjoy the parade, fireworks and collect candy! Where else can you trick or treat as adult AND still find the same joy that you had as a kid!:goodvibes

I'm glad I found this thread. My DH and I are going to the MNSSHP on 10/26 (our first time) and I've been a bit nervous about going. I don't think we'll be dressing up because we have dinner at Les Chefs at 4:30 and are planning on going straight over to the party afterwards, but I'll definitely get some Halloween themed attire :goodvibes Thanks again OP for asking this!

DH and I have attended 4 MNSSHP's and we'll be going to our 5th in just a few weeks. It's definitely geared for both adults and children. In fact, we've seen a lot of adult couples without children at the party, over the years. We usually dress up, but there have been some parties that we just wore Halloween Mickey ears.

The trick or treating, parade, shows and characters are great! You will have a lot of fun!

MNSSHP is awesome:thumbsup2
We've gone for 3 years and loved every minute of it...the CMs filled my bag with candy and we loved the parade and hallo-wishes fireworks. Getting to dress up and walk through the MK is fantastic. I highly recommend going with or without kids.
We're going 10/23 this year and I'm looking forward to the dance parties. :cool1:

I went with 3 other adults last year and we all had a blast. It was probably the most fun I had the entire trip. I am definitely doing it again this year!

I love this event because I can dress up. I am looking forward to going back this year because I am definitely lighter than I was last year. Go, you'd love it.

:) You will really have a good time. DH and I do not have children and do a couple parties each trip in October. We have tickets for 10/28 and 10/31 this year. While we do not "dress up" I do wear a Halloween themed shirt and glitter in my hair. DH wore a Charlie Brown zig zag shirt last year and was really cute (yes, DH is bald and wore brown shorts and shoes to complete the ensemble).

You have to be sure to get to the parade in time to see the Headless Horseman--he is worth the price of admission. You can enter the park at 4 pm with your party ticket--they will give you an armband to wear. THey do check people at the parades and try to empty the park of regular day guests. Then they transform the MK into a Halloween Paradise. ::yes::

So if you want to experience American Halloween ( and I would hope to be considered an expert at 43 :thumbsup2) you cannot go wrong with MNSSHP. Everyone should experience it at least once.
