Going to MNSSHP for my first time on Sept 24, what should I expect of the crowds? Also, how long are the waits for rides usually?

Expect long lines for the unique character meet and greets. Rides should be basically no wait.

Last Friday, most rides except 7DM were walk-on from around 6PM to after the Fireworks at 10:15. We waited maybe 15 minutes for 7DM but Splash and Space mountains were 5-10 min max.

I feel your pain. It's one of my favorite attractions. It will be sorely missed on our upcoming trip!

Was Splash Mountain open during the party? I read something saying it was closed!

It was supposed to be closed during the party - it was not listed as an attraction in the party map - but we got on it around 7:30PM. It was our only chance to ride it the entire week since wait times were around 90 min at all times, even longer than 7DM at times, and we couldn't get a FP+. The upcoming refurb was probably the cause.

We will be there the same evening. We have now made a Halloween Party and annual event. Sad about Splash Mountain being down , but BTMRR was down last year so I guess it's a tad off. WE hope that you have a good time. The best information is from the MNSSHP posts on this board.

You never know how any party is going to be, but we have been in the first half of October the last several years, and it seems like the Sunday parties are less crowded and less likely to sell out. We typically attend more than one party during the week we are there. Sunday is usually our first, and it usually seems less crowded.

We went again on Oct 19 and it wasn’t even sold out and there was hardly any crowds. Perfect spot for first parade 15 minutes before. Perfect spot for fireworks 5 minutes before. No wait for anything. EXACT opposite on Sept 24. Very shocking

Strange- I wonder if that is because Hurricane Irma cancelled one Sunday party in September, and also caused some people to move trips forward a week or two. We haven't been in September, so I can't say whether that is as unusual as it seems or not. I'm a little embarrassed to admit, that we have been known to go on Sunday, Thurs and Friday of the October week we are there (and have done that multiple times). We just really loves that party and the atmosphere. Every year we have done that- Sunday has always been the least crowded. Friday has always been a sell out. Thursday has sometimes been a sell out and sometimes not, but is usually more crowded than Sunday.

We went Thursday 10/26 and it was packed. I was not expecting that kind of crowd. It was a very different experience than previous parties for us, very disappointing. Maybe we just hit it on a bad night but it's enough to scare us away for a while. We joked if we come back maybe do an August party

I was there for a thurs pm party earlier this month and it was awful.
Mnsshp has always been my favorite event at wdw but that was our last time. Every year gets worse, so I am calling it quits. Such a bummer.

Wow!!! We were also there Thursday 10/26 and didn't find it packed at all! The candy lines were non-existent, found a spot right on Main Street for first parade pretty late and walked on almost every ride except Mine Train and HM. The park seemed practically empty in parts.

Further proof that crowds are subjective. I think people see more crowds when they're looking for them.

Agree, it was awful compared to our past parties. We're done for a while too.
