MNSSHP 2014: What's YOUR Costume?

My fiancee (will be wife at the point) is wearing a Minnie dress from the Disney Store along with the wedding ears. For mickey, I am wearing a black polo and red short with my wedding ears.

Add us to the Frozen folk. My DD is currently Frozen-obsessed, and my mom is making her an Elsa dress for her birthday this month that I suspect she'll still want to wear come Sept. We'll probably dress the baby as Anna, and then DW and I will likely be cheap/easy versions of Olaf and Sven. Or we'll dress the baby as Olaf and DW and I won't dress up. We'll see what we can come up with. (We're planning on the Sept 26th party, btw.)

Our family has a couple of options we are looking into:

1.) The Incredibles: DH--Mr. Incredible, Me--Mrs. Incredible, DD--Violet, DS--Dash, DS--Jack-Jack, and introducing DD--Jill-Jill, Jack-Jack's twin sister :)

2.) St. Louis Cardinals Fans... easy for us since we live in the STL and are hugh fans!

3.) Jake and the Neverland Pirates: Twins (DS/DD) would be Jake and Izzy, DS would be Cubby, DD would be the Indian Princess, DH would be Captian Hook, and I would be Mrs. Smee :)

The Cardinals fans are winning out since we have everything we need already :)

We are planning on buying tickets for the September 23rd party :)

This is not costume related! But I just wanted to say Hi! I am also from STL! And we will also be in WDW at the same time as you guys! (We are arriving that date) What a small world! Cardinals fans is a great costume idea since we know we will be heading to the series again at that point, right?:thumbsup2

I have a pre-trip report (link in my signature) all about our Sept. trip. There are also several other STL ladies that comment on my report and have their own going, if you are interested!

DW and I plan to go and want to dress up, but it has to be simple as it's supposed to be a park day for us anyway, and we don't want to trek back to the hotel to get stuff/get ready. Thinking maybe Jacques and Gus from Cinderella, but not sure yet. I'd want to do the pearls on the tail bit, and that'd be awkward on rides and hard to stash in a locker until it's time to get dressed.

Thank you and I will check them out!

I was definitely thinking about post season and Cardinals when I suggested the idea :cool1:

I'm trying to find a cute design for a t shirt and make them myself. That way we can stay a bit cooler.

I am going as the Redhead from the POTC ride. I made this costume a few years ago and this will be the third time wearing it.

In the past we've gone as Angry Birds and Super heroes (the first year our kids were Woody and Buzz and DH and I wore Halloween Mickey hats).

We were thinking about Frozen this year because my boys love the movie and my baby loves the songs, but after seeing how many people will be doing that, I'm reevaluating. We might go for something like The Wizard of Oz.

I am having such a hard time deciding on our costumes! :confused3This is our first MNSSHP and I am super excited. Here are our possibilities so far:

1. Peter Pan: Me=Wendy DD=Tink DH= Pan

2. Beauty and the Beast: Me=blue dress belle DD= yellow dress belle DH= Beast (in a short sleeve and shorts version so its cooler)

3. Princess and the Frog: Me=Tiana DD=Charlotte DH=Big Daddy

4. Fab 5: Me=minnie DD= Daisy DH=Goofy or Mickey

Our only non-Disney option:
The Bearenstien Bears: me=momma DD=sister DH=Papa

We still have some time, I know but I just wish I would make up my mind!

Unfortunately this years party is not in the cards, but we sure had fun at last years party. Here's a pic of my gang in front of the castle (Roger Rabbit, Donald & Daisy Duck, and Dopey):

In 2012 we did: me - Wendy, DD - Tink, and DH - Mr.Smee. It was a total hoot interacting with Tinkerbell dressed as Wendy. This year it will be DH/King Fergus, Me/Queen Elinor & DD/Merida.

My twin sister and I are going to be Jolly Holiday Mary and Bert from Mary Poppins. My cousin and her boyfriend are going to be Prince Eric and Ariel (in her Kis the Girl attire). My mom might come - I'm assuming she'll either be Snow White or a villain and if my aunt comes then she'll be the Fairy Godmother.

My sister, cousin, and I went last year as Belle, Tink, and Prince Eric and it was a blast!

So far, at this stage of the game, I'm planning on going as Jasmine! No idea if the BF will go in costume or not yet!

I think we will go on the Sunday before Halloween as we will be visiting my daughter in the CP. We have never done the party. I don't think we'll do costumes, though--I'm not very creative and we will be trying to do a carryon only trip.

Oh, that sounds awesome!

You could probably sew some LED lights into fabric to go for it- gah, there was this one cosplay show on Sy-Fy that showed it.

When we went last year, it wasn't very hot. If anything, I froze, LOL. The SO didn't mind it so much.

Tell me about it. It's normally so hard to figure out a costume! Even if you figure it out, you might change your mind a few weeks later. :rotfl:

What days were you there? The thought of freezing or being way to hot is making me stress on costumes.

I asked this in the other thread before realizing there was a costumes thread, so I'll ask here as well:

This is a random question, but are there any restrictions on dressing up as a Disney character? I'm dressing up as Elsa for a convention at the of May and was planning on wearing my Elsa dress to the party but minus the wig. A long time ago I used to hear that MNSSHP was the time for adults to dress up as characters, but I don't know if the rules have changed.

The only restriction is not to wear a mask or anything that impedes your eyesight ( which you wouldn't want to do anyway since it gets very dark that night. People seem to get hung up on the idea that Disney will "kick you out of the park" if you look like the character or your costume is " too good". The only time I've heard of that happening was with that girl in the news who came into WDW ( or DL - I don't remember) on a REGULAR day dressed as Tink and was signing autographs. Yeah - just don't do that and you are fine! I dressed as the HM tightrope girl and had some pics taken of me - it was not a prob. I've seen lots of great costume - just don't be a total jerk about it, and you are good.:thumbsup2

There is no way to predict the weather in October. Just pick a costume that you like and hope for the best. We were freezing one year and melted the next, but most were comfortable, even with long pants. The only time it was cold was after hurricane Sandy, and we made it work by layering as much as ossicle. You have to pack for anything and everything temp wise in October. :rotfl: The good news is that we have had very little rain. You are really too busy having fun to notice if you are hot or cold. :goodvibes
