MNSSHP 2014: What's YOUR Costume?

I am very inspired! We are going to our first-ever MNSSHP this year in late September and all I can think of is that I don't want to be dressed up in the heat. This idea of normal clothes in the right colors with a few accessories is TOTALLY up my alley!!!

Thanks. We went late Sept 2011 and it was hot. We did Alice in wonderland with full costumes. We were melting. I saw a family on the bus with a toy story theme done with Mr & Mrs potato head tees and Brown shorts, woody in shorts, tee, vest and hat, little bo peep and Jessie done with the tees, Tutus and accessories. So cool and comfortable. That was my inspiration for this year.

I'm doing a 50's theme with poodle skirt. But, I have Minnie ears I'm going to wear with it. Shame I can't have a skirt with Pluto on it, though. I may also do black tights with it, but not sure yet. Kinds depends on the weather that night.

A Pluto skirt would be super cute. Now I want one. lol You may be able to find someone on Etsy that can make one for you.

I'm considering a few things but I'll probably end up digging through dance costume websites. Right now my front runner is one of the cockatoos from the tiki room.

I'm going as Minnie Mouse. I have the dress and the Minnie ears. I just need to find yellow shoes!

DS doesn't know what he wants to be yet.

I was Mickey last year (very simple - red shorts, black tank, black bow tie and ears with yellow shoes. I didn't want to buy pricey yellow shoes (cause I would probably never wear them again), so I wore a cheap pair of yellow shoes that really killed my feet. Won't make that mistake this year! :thumbsup2

Thinking of Tink for this year .... still got plenty of time to think it over!

I made a Redhead costume from POTC which i have worn to the party 3 times so far. I will be wearing it again this Halloween!

It's been a few trips since soon-to-be 11 yo DGrD has wanted to dress as a princess - so when she begged to be Elsa - of course I said yes! lol We just picked out all the fabric, trying to keep it as cool and minimal as we can and we will make it together as our summer sewing project.
I am thinking of putting together/making an outfit as Bulda - mostly so I can just pull my hair on top of my head and stick flowers in it.:hippie: - old hippie chick;)

Chances are I'm going to do a disneybound style snow while (yellow shorts, red tank under a blue sleeveless button up tank, red headband with bow and apple earrings) - does anyone have any ideas where I can get apple shaped earrings? and what type of shoes I should do...I don't have brown flats so maybe brown flip flops (I suppose I could look for flats but we're a little tight on $$$ right now)

If it's chilly (doubtful but it's always good to have a backup) I'm just going to do jeans with a Maleficent tank top

We have been Wizards (family of four) and Pirates. This year it is just DW adn I so we are going as Mr and Mrs Incredible. I'm having trouble finding a normal sized costume from the online stores for Mr. Incredible. They only sell it in XL. They even show a video with a guy wearing it and it looks like he has a load in his pants.

Looks like we are going to have to make our own.

Can't wait for this, went back in 2009 and we all just wore superhero T-shirts.
Wife was Wonder Woman, oldest son was Superman, youngest was Batman and I was Robin.

This year the oldest is 15 and is bring one of his friends. We are going to have M&M t-shirts. Wife will be Green, I will be Blue, oldest son will be Red, youngest will be Orange and sons friend will be Yellow.

The T-shirts work out well since it gets so hot. They are not full-blown costumes, but we kinda fit in.

Glad this thread was bumped back up. I forgot I wanted to add to it.

Last year I was Dr. Doofenshmirz and my wife was Candace. I loved the Candace costume because a lot of people didn't get it at all, but then other people had such strong positive reactions when they were familiar with Phineas and Ferb.

Still, it seemed a little odd for Dr. D and Candace to be holding hands. This year, I'm thinking of dressing up as Jeremy. The only problem is I have to get the blonde hair for it to work.

Finding a male blonde wig seems hard, but I'm worried about dyeing my hair for a short time period. Maybe I should just do a google search, but any suggestions on that front would be appreciated.

I sort of feel like this is our last chance to do P&F related costumes, since TV shows tend to be less timeless than movies and they seem to be airing the last episodes of the show this summer.

Hubs and I are going haunted mansion themed. I am making a purple shirt with the hitchhiking ghosts on it and a fabric/tulle tutu in black and gray to seem ghostly. Hubs is wearing a black tee with singing ghost busts. Not sure if we'll do anything to his shorts or if he'll just wear his gray ones.

I'm going as the Haunted Mansion Bride!

Me: Cinderella in pink dress made by mice
DH: Captain Jack Sparrow
DD: Alice in Wonderland

There will be nine of us, including two babies, so we're doing a Snow White theme with me as Snow, my sister as the Evil Queen, and everyone else as the seven dwarves. The four-month old has dibs on Sleepy!

In regards to finding a wig, eBay is your friend, try searching 'short blonde cosplay wig' you should then get a really good selection, advice on the eBay front though is go for wigs that have photos on mannequin heads rather than actually photos of people. Good Luck!

We'll be going as Elsa and Anna to join the frozen crowd. Found all the fabrics I need for both and wig styling is all done just got to sew everything together now ^_^

This will be our first time attending MNSSHP. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I'm hoping it will be a lot of fun. I have purchased a red dress with white polka dots, and I have my glittery Minnie ears with the red bow to wear. I am not sure what shoes I'm going to wear yet. I am going with comfort over cute or something that matches the costume. More important that my feet are comfortable and I can handle all the walking. I have no idea if my friend will be dressing up or not. She said I need to think of something for her. Lol. I say she needs to figure out something that she likes. We are flying and only bringing carry-ons, so it cannot take up too much space. She isn't someone that wears printed t-shirts or the fun hats or ears or anything, so I have no clue what she is going to do.

I can't recall quite how many times I've been to MNSSHP. I believe since 2009. DH started joining me once we moved to Florida.

Last year we went as Wreck-It-Ralph and Vanellope, which was so much fun. I honestly kind of want to go as that again. See the photo below.

This year I think I'm going as Jem of Jem and the Holograms. I got a pink wrap dress for super cheap from Old Navy. The pink wig was very inexpensive on eBay. It should be fun.
