MNSSHP 2014 Official Thread

I have a very stupid question, because the answer is probably obvious... but what, exactly, is a trick or treat trail? Are there characters or special things to see along the trail or just different spots to get candy?

Does anyone know how late Columbia Harbor House will be open on party nights? I was hoping for a pre-party dinner around 5:30-6:00 but I think I read somewhere that CHH will close around 5:00.... I called and a CM seemed to think it would be open until 7:00, but she wasn't sure.

If you look at the 2014 MNSSHP maps posted to Twitter, CHH is listed as open during the party until 8pm!

Just different spots to get candy. No characters or anything special, just multiple candy stops, as opposed to just one.

DW, DD, and myself attended MNSSHP on first night, 9/1. It was AWESOME! They only sold 11,000 out of 25,000 tickets. So, the park seemed nearly empty at times. We walked right on so many rides and were allowed to stay on and ride again on several of them. We watched the second Boo To You parade that night, and it was spectacular! We unexpectedly ran into another DIS family in their costumes while waiting in line for Winnie the Pooh. Finfan's family were all "Mine!" seagulls from "Finding Nemo". They looked excellent! We were Cinderella in the pink dress the mice made (DW), Alice in Wonderland (DD), and Captain Jack Sparrow (myself). My own personal highlights of the evening were 1). Getting to meet and greet the Disney Captain Jack Sparrow while in my CJS costume, and 2). FINALLY getting the max score on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (dressed as CJS, nonetheless!). I got my ride photo of me as CJS, a photo of my score, the CMs held a "coronation" ceremony of sorts crowning me as a "Galactic Hero", and everyone in the gift store and getting off the ride sang Happy Birthday to me!!!! Couldn't have possibly asked for a better night at MNSSHP or a better 40th birthday trip to WDW!!!!

I just have to say your costume is AMAZING!! Glad it was a successful party for you and your family :goodvibes

I have a question about face painting for the party. Do they offer any special Halloween type designs or do they just have the regular designs available? I am trying to think up an easy costume for my kids and am hopeless at putting makeup on them. Thanks!

Were the Evil Queen and Malificent in Princess Fairytale Hall? Someone on another thread said they weren't going to be there because of Villian Soiree. Also, if they ARE there, they wouldn't be there until 7pm, so a 5:30pm FP won't help me meet them, right?

Have you considered pirates and to go to the pirate's league?

RobbW I saw you :goodvibes:goodvibes I did a doubletake and thought, "Hey, Capt. Jack is walking around with that family!" You looked awesome, glad you guys had such a great time! We did too:) Loved the almost non-existent crowds!

Unfortunately no, Evil Queen and Maleficent are NOT meeting in PFH and can only be met at the soiree :sad2:

Awesome costume! Wouldn't know you apart from if not for your button!
Heck, I'll go one step further....I think it's better than this "official" one!! And about 100X better than the CJS from our cruise (ick!). GREAT job!!! And Happy 40th! I celebrated mine at MNSSHP and the ToT Villain party ....no better way to turn 40 than pretending to be someone else! LOL

Went for the first time last year. My DW and DD planned this year on the flight on the way home. I did not argue.

At this point, unless they change their minds we will be Peter Pan, Wendy, and Tinkerbell. (Since it is DD(14) it might be StinkerBell), but I digress.

I went as Mr. Incredible last year, a little heavy and HOT. But I couldn't wipe the smile from my face. The trip, the trick-or-treating were amazing. I know there are those that say it has become less than it was, but if this is less, I am very happy with it. It was the first time in 40 years since I had a bag and stated "trick-or-treat" in earnest. That was worth much more than the price of admission.

I can't wait. Keep this thread going, whatever the title. I love to read of others enjoying this wonderful time.

I'm just curious, how do you know how many tickets are sold? We will be going to the 9/9 party and I would love to know how many have been sold.

Thanks!

Hi Robb! What a blast the night was ! Happy 40th birthday and becoming a Galactic Hero :woohoo:..and honestly you REALLY are one convincing Captain Jack Sparrow! So happy we ran into your family and the night was so low on crowds. I think Cap'n Jack didn't turn our way during the parade because he knew he's been outdone :worship: I wish I had been at the Villain's Dance Hall when the Step-Sisters were fussing over your wife's dress, I just love those two. Thanks for posting a photo of us here on the boards...I am on my DD'S laptop while she is at work (so bummed she doesn't have vaca time yet but she meets up with us each night)so I didn't take time to get any pic's up.The parks crowds have been low to us ever since the party. We walked onto Soarin' Wed. , tons of walk-ons at MK yesterday and I just booked TSM late last night for today. I would pay $80 for a Halloween ticket if they made the actual party from 4-12..there is SO MUCH to do and if crowds were double I would have really wanted the time. We didn't have a game plan tho, and we really enjoyed talking with others in their costumes throughout the night so we could have managed far better. We also ate at CP at 4 -5 so that killed some time that we should have just done CS for and saved a half hour prior to the party. The decorations are fun and I saw yesterday they have started hanging the icicle lights on the castle. We walked up for the 2nd parade and sat on the tomorrowland side of the hub, right at the bridge that also leads to the rose garden. To us, the spot was awesome because all of DS pics have the castle behind them, the one of the Headless Horseman is especially cool. And we literally walked up about 10-15 prior to the start of the parade. All the CM's were interacting with us..Jungle Cruise was the best lol...the boat captain started saying "oh no...no seagulls on my boat!" and they kept saying "Mine" over the PA and when we got off they said "Have You Seen My Son' over the PA and were just joking interacting. We laughed so much all night it was a total blast. PLEASE dress up if you can ~ it really makes the night! Seeing costumes in lines is cool, like how we were behind a great Snow White in the 7DMT ride! We didn't feel that hot even with those big hats on..the evening really makes a difference in temp. Yesterday a management CM by the Tink M&G asked me if we were the Seagull family ('Cause my DS was still saying "Mine" here and there) and we said yes and she said she is hoping to do the same with her group of 15..that would look awesome. We ahd so many people asking us where to buy the hats, lol....umm my kitchen table 'cause that's where I threw them together :rotfl:. DS was asked to do a survey after the Finding Nemo ride Wed and when they asked what could be improved DS said "more Seagulls and the CM said that is the #1 reply so hopefully!!!!!!!!!!

Were Chip and Dale anywhere around during MNSSHP? Were they in the park before the party started. They are our favorite characters - and we want to make sure and meet them and get pics with them wherever possible.

Looking to go either on 9/21 or 9/28 and was interested in purchasing the MB. Looking to hear from others on your thoughts which date to go - how fast do you think these would sell out?

Both are Sundays and shouldn't be to bad crowd wise. I'm going 9/28 and already got my tickets used DVC discount.
