Mnsshp 2006-tips Only

Just had to add my 2 cents. Me, the DW and DS went to the Oct. 27 party for the first time ever. Read over the entire thread and even printed out sheets of "hopefully" useful information. We all had a good time, although we missed the villains at the castle and the fireworks. My intention was to watch them the next night, but we ended up staying at Epcot later than planned and so I never got to see them other than snippets between rides.
The treat lines were very efficient and quick and we loved the parade. The DW was VERY disappointed, however, in the lack of characters around the park, especially RARE characters. I think she found 1 the entire evening that she had never seen before. I was actually surprised myself at how few characters there seemed to be around the park.
I'd love to do the party again, but at $45 a ticket, I don't think it was worth the price.

What's funny is that I came away with the exact opposite impression. I loved the party and thought it kicked the pants off MVMCP. I still love the Christmas party and will attend again, but after doing MNSSHP, I feel spoiled. I finally got photos with Maleficent and The Evil Queen and got photos of practically every character from Alice in Wonderland - even the Walrus has his own photo. However, what really made the ticket worth it was the fireworks and parade. They were AMAZING.

I guess what I'm saying is you really won't know until you try it - for those out there who have yet to do Halloween at Disney. I loved it and felt like I created some amazing memories that I will never forget.

I don't think it will be overkill. We are going the 27th and the 31st. I look at it this way anything you miss at the first party do/see it at the second. From reading on dis alot of people do 2 parties.

I did two parties as well. And am so glad I did. There was so much to do, I probably could have done a third. pirate:

We did the 12th Oct ( we were on hol for 3 weeks, so only been back a few days)

We were disappointed with the MNSSHP.

I think it was expensive for what "extra" you got. ( we had already brought a 21 day Disney pass from the UK, so this was an EXTRA payment)
We loved the Hallowishes, but friends who didnt go to the party, saw the show the following week on a "normal" night anyway. The parade was fun, but according to people we were talking to in the crowd, it was almost the same as the previous year. so they were fed up and un impressed.

We were surprised and sad at the lack of rare characters out. This was our biggest downer! Thought we did see snow white and the 7 dawfts, which was fun.

It was busier that normal days in the parks ( we went 7th to 30th Oct) which we were surprised with.

We enjoyed trick or treating, but my 4 year old prefered Spooktacular better, and we got better quality and more sweets. Spooktacular was FREE too.

We loved the Cinderella Coach.

We have booked for next year to be in Florida from 11th Oct to 3rd Nov, but doubt, unless they do anything much different that we will go again.
Im glad we went, but dont feel the need to do it again any time soon.

We will definately be going to Spooktacular. but then we have a long holiday, so we will do Spooktacular one day and the shows, and Seaworld bits on a week day.

Just my thoughts, no flames please!

5)do lots of poeple stay til midnight?

thanks in advance

any more tips for first-timers???? i looking forward to going, i wan tthe candy, and i hear something about a Snickers Treat Trough on the way out of the park???

I haven't been to MNSSHP since I was eight but I had a blast!!!!! I was a cowgirl and me and my mom were there a night where it wasn't too hot so that was great. They have tons of the candy stops and they have story times that were great and what better time to go on HM than on Halloween? LOL I know I'm a little late but you can never start planning too early!!!!!! :thumbsup2 ;) :cool1: :cheer2: :3dglasses :dance3: :yay:

We attended our first party on Oct. 2nd. I didn't see snow white or the dwarfs. I was advised to attend the 2nd parade as it would be less crowded and that didn't seem to pan out. Fireworks and parade were nice and we got pics with villians after mix n mingle, but I've seen all those villians in the parades. At the end of the nite we were next in line for pics w/ Mad Hatter and the CM announced the family before us would be his last. As I headed out of the park and saw other characters, they were in a hurry to leave.
Although, my DS 8 loved every bit of it, I'm not so sure I'd do it again unless someone can tell me where and when I'd be assured of seeing characters in costume. Also, the candy was OK...lines shorts to get it but not our main concern....I wanted pics of costumed characters!!!! or at least characters I don't see regularly.

Yer or friends also thought the lack of characters were very poor.

I think Disney should change and improve things each year, otherwise people wont come back. But then I guess they make their money so they arent too worried.

I thought we might see penguins, from Mary poppins or Mrs Tremaide(Spelling?) Kanga, or owl, as these characters have all been out before, so its not like they dont have the costumes.

On 10/17 MNSS we actually saw Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs! we took pictures of them because in all the times we've been there, we've NEVER seen them! didn't see many others though. Helen

1) I went on Oct 23 and 24 and they were not sold out like later dates. Not overcrowded. Just nice. Come prepared for both hot and cold weather.
2) waltdisneyworld.com (look for special events or holidays) or by calling 1-800-W-Disney.
3) They'll announce the dates sometime next year.
4) I bought mine about a month and a half in advance, but my dates weren't sold out so many bought them day of. However, to be safe, buy at least a month in advance if you can manage that.
5) I did.

Other tips:
*I had heard a lot about "They give you a heap of candy at the end, so don't bother with trick or treating." Well, what you don't hear is that the Snickers Treat Trough is only Snickers and they hand out about 5 - 6 pieces. So don't count on that if you're going for trick or treating.
*Despite the few posts on this last page about how they didn't enjoy it: I had A BLAST! I enjoyed it more than MVMCP by miles and how many places can adults trick or treat and not be judged???? I loved the parade (and Captain Jack was new this year - so there was *something* new). It has quickly become my favorite parade EVER. And Hallowishes was fantastic. And after years of waiting, I got my pix with Maleficent and the Evil Queen. So yeah: I had a blast. Don't depend on what others say. You have to make up your own mind.
* Stop by the Haunted Mansion and see Madame Carlotta on the front lawn. I even got my photo taken with her. So much fun! And she's just great.

thank you :thumbsup2

Walking in I thought we had made a huge mistake spending the money for it, the crowd entering and exiting was overwhelming. But, let me tell you, I was wrong! It was awesome! The parade was spectacular!! The fireworks were pretty cool. We waited like 5-20 mintues for all major attractions! We got more candy then I think we would have at home!! We got the free facepainting - they are pros, I tell ya! My DH who was reluctant about me spending the money said it was worth every penny, and it was!!!!

Just a quick report... i went to both MNNSHPs, 10/30 and 10/31. Both nights there were no waits on rides that i rode on tues night, i had the whole boat to myself on POC and the same on splash mnt. Did lots of trick or treating on both nights, i missed the parades on Monday night. I got to see Hallowishes both nights, can you AWESOME!!! Monday night glad i got all the pics taken care of like the doombuggy, cinderellas carrage, mickey and minnie. Also got some of the villians, Capt hook, Frodor, Queen of hearts and Jafar, didnt have time to get the other ladies like Snow Queen, Cruella and Maleficient... guess that will have to be next time. Really glad i went to both parties, and i also loved the parade... i just cant get over how awesome the parade and fireworks music , cant believe they dont have this on a cd. I also can see now why everyone say you cant get the "boo to you" song out of there head... anyway i did both parties solo, and i would do it again in a heart beat!!!! :)

I went to MNSSHP on the 20th and I didn't see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs..where were they?Im so mad my picture's of the parade came out bad but that's okay becuase I plan on going next year, lol. :)

Is there any special locations where ya'll met the non usual characters? I plan on going this year and would like to make a list of where i could see them. Thanks for your help

Here is my tip. When the Headless Horseman comes out during the parade, do not stand in the middle of the street because the man in the Headless Horseman suit CAN NOT SEE! The horse is trained so he knows where to go. ;) The cast members do get a little mean once the headless horse man comes out. Because I am pretty sure they do not want him to fall and hurt himself. :headache:
REMEMBER THIS TIP!!!!!!!! ok pirate:
