Just to clarify: No one will give us any stange looks that we are trick or treating at MNSSHP even though all three in our party (DH, DD-19 y.o., and myself) are adults?

I LOVE candy!!!!! :cool1:

nope. no strange looks at all.

have fun and enjoy the party!

So do ours!

mine do too.

granted, we have been able to get in the parks around 1600 in the past but the tickets do say 7pm to midnight on them.

My kids stood in front of the wagon-wheeled hearse at the HM entrance/exit at last year's MNSSHP. The photographer told them to lean left and stick their thumbs out like they were hitchhiking. We ordered the photo online and it came out great because THE GHOST IS IN THE PHOTO. He's sitting up top of the carriage in the driver's seat.

I absolutely can not wait to go!

We have tix for 9/29. My DH is Peter Pan, I am Wendey Darling, and my DD2 is Tinkerbell. My mil made all of our costumes so they are very "heat" friendly and DD's Tink costume will not scratch her.

I love the idea about making her own bag to get her treats. I think I will run to Michael's and get a canvas bag and decorate it in "tink" stuff.

This is more directed to adult dresser-uppers!
Similar to your PJ's as a costume tip, I would suggest a multi-purpose costume.
These days, costumes $$$ are OUTRAGEOUS!!! And to buy a new one every year is just silly and certainly not cost effective. I mean, for the little ones, it's fun to dress them up in brand new too-cute costumes every year, b/c they're only that little for not very long, so that's different.
But as an adult, I find it useless to buy these expensive costumes that you'll never use again, so i try to wear something I own and make it a costume for very cheap.
For example, I was at the mall, and spotted this adorable Red dress with white polka dots and thought it was really cute. So, upon buying it, I thought I could wear it to work or out at night and PLUS I decided then and there that I was going to Minnie Mouse for Halloween this year b/c it is SUCH a Minnie Mouse Dress!

i think the diy treat bag idea is great! :thumbsup2 i would suggest making it a messenger bag style so that it is at less risk of getting put down and left somewhere. i have seen many forgotten bags on rides and at various places around the kingdom on party nights. it would be a shame to go through all of that trouble only to have the bag accidentally left behind. :artist:

As far as costumes go- i'm just buying nurse scrubs and wearing that. BUT it is a Disney Halloween top though! Check Ebay for cheap costumes. Look now b-4 bidding goes up closer to Halloween.

I bought my orange canvas bags for T or Ting. All I have to do is decorate it. Plus, for fun I'm decorating the resort room window for Halloween. So, if you're at POP Oct. 16-21st and see a crazy HAlloween window stop in and say "Hi".

Does anyone have more info about the whole doom buggy photo opportunity. OR even having your picture taken in front of the hearse, and then them putting a ghost in the photo? I know i read it a few posts back..... is this just at the halloween party? How does it work? Thanks!

Also be sure to check Disney shopping.com in July or August. I got my Minnie Mouse costume for 16 dollars. They "Redid" them this year - all that looks different is the color of the top and it now costs 70 bucks! I'm so excited!
If you see an overweight Minnie on Sept 22nd with yellow crocs, it's me! Say hi! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Mine say 7-12 as well and they look like credit cards.. I got them in the mail last week. Does not say anything about a free photo either.

Hi everyone - I just came across this thread today and haven't had a chance to read through the whole thing yet. Last night I published a lens (a kind of website) about MNSSHP. I thought some folks here might be interested to take a look.

I'm betting that after I finish reading through all these posts I'll have a few more tips to post and other info to add to it! Feel free to give me any feedback you have. Barrie

Great! :thumbsup2 Thank you so much for the link!! There are some pictures I've never seen before and I love the videos!! I am so excited and can't wait for my first MNSSHP! :woohoo:

Question: (yes, i know it's not a tip, sorry, sorry)

One of my friends wants to dress up in his Scream outfit (you know, the wes craven teen slasher type movie trilogy).... appropriate for MNSSHP or not?

Bring some bug repellant!!

We've been to MNSSHP in 2003 and 2004. In 2003 the mosquitos were terrible! And you can't buy bug repellant in MK. We were rubbing anti-bacterial hand sanitizer on ourselves in an attempt to keep the bugs away (didn't work very well).

Now we bring OFF! towelettes with us.

And if you wear a costume make sure it is cool & comfortable. Nothing like a hot, itchy, tight costume to ruin the night.

Debbie

We are going on Oct 12th. Thank you eveyone for all the great tips! DH and I will be wearing Halloween t-shirts. DS9 will be Jack Sparrow and wants to bring his sword. I told him I didn't think he would be able to bring it in. What do you think?

I was unsure about whether to pay for this event or not for our trip at the end of the month. I am suprising my DD7. It's getting really hard not to spill the beans. Anyway, I just wanted to say that after reading this thread I am sold on the party, even though it's so expensive. Can't wait!

Bazzanoid, I don't think they would allow that costume.

Oh good - I'm glad you enjoyed it. I went to MNSSHP in 2003 and had a great time. I was there with 4 of my work friends and we had the best time. It wasn't crowded at all and there were characters just wandering around by themselves. I usually leave the characters to kids but they were so accessible that we have a bunch of pictures with them. It was really fun to be in the park at night and all the special Halloween stuff was great. I'm jealous - have a fabulous time! Barrie
