Mnsshp 2006-tips Only

:hmghost: We have tkts for Oct. 2nd. The t-shirt option sound like the way to go for our family. With some extra accessories, of course. Looking forward to our 1st. party!

Thanks to everyone for all the great tips!!

DIS Board Rocks!! :disrocks:

I'll be there on September 15. This will be our first time going :thumbsup2

From others that have been there before, how are the crowds? Does anyone know how many tickets they put out for sale?
THanks!

I'm loving the tips... I'm hoping for some cooler weather on 9/15. We will be wearing baseball uniforms... it's the only thing that I could get DH2B to agree to.

I'm really excited about the headless horseman and cinderella's carriage... as I am a horse lover!!!

Thanks for all the info!!!

Dad and I were going to be Captain Hook & Tinkerbell this year, but I think those costumes will be way too hot.

Is there face painting at MNSSHP? If so, I may just go with a festive t-shirt and get my face painted.

Hubby and I will be at WDW staying at CSR from Fri Oct 27-Nov 1 and doing MNSSP...well....on OCT 31 LOL!! ( Tixs arrived this week in the mail and I am currently sleeping with them under my pillow :rotfl2: )

Honestly - I think the 5.40 time is a bit late. I'd try for an earlier time, and Id probably park at GF.

If you are going to park at GF, get there EARLY unless you are going to valet park. The self-parking lot is a nightmare.

This will be our first time at MNSSHP and we are really excited! We are going as characters from POTC2. pirate: DS4.5 is going as Davey Jones (disney store), DH is going as Capt. Jack Sparrow (target "dot" com) and I'm going as Elizabeth Swan as a pirate (also target "dot" com).

Our costumes may be a little warm, but we'll suffer for the cause! :rotfl:

Be careful that none of your Disney costumes include a mask that completely covers your or your child's head, as you may not be allowed to wear it. Disney is very strict about not allowing any guest at MNSSHP to be confused with an actual CM character!

I am also curious if anyone has an estimate of how many tickets are sold for each night?

Thanks!
Jon

I think but I'm not 100% sure - that the parade runs "backwards" from it's normal route (i.e. Spectromagic)... At least that's what I remember from last year. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Headless Horseman is VERY cool... try not to miss him - he goes by at near lightning speed - and it is probably the biggest horse I've ever seen! Very cool effect... My goal this year is to take 640x480 30fps video footage of him so I can freeze frame it and turn it into a good picture... because getting a picture of him (especially since you can't use flash) is nearly impossible...

My biggest tip:

Be very careful not to get stuck anywhere near the 8:00 parade! It is very easy to get "cornered" in the SW part of the park... This is the problem we had last year... It was probably 7:45 or so and we were stuck for 30min - 45min and then we couldn't find ANYWHERE to eat. It was awful because it was so crowded and there was litteraly no where to eat without waiting for an hour. So also be sure to plan ahead when it comes to dinner. My advise would be to be in the NE side of the park when parade #1 goes. Then get a good spot for Hallowishes (fireworks) / parade #2. And if at all possible eat before the party even starts - this way you're not spending valuable time eating. This year I made LTT reservations for 4:15pm so that I don't have to miss out on any of the party stuff. FYI they start dressing the characters in Halloween costumes for the Liberty Tree Tavern character dinner at 4:00 on the nights of MNSSHPs. And they let you in at 4:00pm not 4:30 like others have mentioned... I verified this when I called to order my MNSSHP tickets.

I'm hoping to have a better time this year learning from some of the mistakes we made last year! Last year it seemed VERY crowded, but it might have been that we were always in the wrong place at the wrong time... you know how the "hub" is in front of the castle right before Wishes? Well that's about how crowded it was everywhere we went, it was quite frustrating.

Maybe the rising price of the tickets will help to keep the crowds down? Doubt it, but it would be worth the extra price if it did...

O Joe, when you say they let you in at 4pm when you have tickets to the MNSSHP, do you mean without admission to the parks? We're planning to do a water park on the day of our MNSSHP and when I called to make reservations for Tony's I was told that if I didnt have admission "to the parks" and only had my MNNSHP ticket the first reservation I was allowed to get is at 6pm! She wouldnt give me her 5:45pm reservation that was available. I called twice and got the same answer. Please clarify. Thank you!

I called on Tuesday and got a reservation for LTT at 4:10pm on Sept. 15th and the CM knew we are going to MNSSHP. :confused3 I hope I won't have any problems getting in at 4:00pm. It is so frustrating the the CM's are giving different info to different people. :furious: You would think that Disney would put out memos concerning these matters to each CM, so we would all get one story.

I had already had a ressie for 6:30pm at LTT. I haven't canceled it yet because I'm not sure which time would be better.

Does everyone else think the 4:10 or the 6:30 would be better?

Hi everyone, this is an awesome thread. DS 8 and I will be there on the 2nd of Oct!!! Originally he wanted to be an army guy like his daddy, but I think I have him talked out of that since it will be so hot (unless I can get him a PT uniform... hmmm that might work). Anyway, I was thinking about (if he does not do a full on costume) about getting his hair done at the Barber Shop at the MK! Does anyone know what the hours are? I figure a groovy Halloween shirt, funky hair and maybe face painting should be good. Anyone know the answer?

DH, DD14 and I will be attending the party on 10/24. Haven't decided on costumes for this year. Maybe just T-shirts.

When we went the last time my older DD went as Mousekateer Annette (she has short, dark curly hair, wore mouse ears, a white shirt with Annette on it and a plain black skirt). She was a hit with the cast members. My other daughter wore a mickey/minnie "poodle" skirt that her grandma made from a pattern. Mickey and Minnie were in black and were dancing. The skirt was a hot pink color. The girls loved the costumes and while they were both Disney, they were unique.

I would go with the 4:10 if I were you... You figure a character dinner will take 1 or 1-1/2 hours so that could get you until about 5:40, just twenty minutes until they start giving non-MNSSHP ticket holders the boot. There's not really alot to do during the transition, except watch the transition take place, which is kind of interesting... but at least you'll know you're not going to miss any of the party because you're eating... Just my thoughts...

In the past years they've always let people in at 4:00 with only a MNSSHP ticket, I know because I've done it before. The cast member that I bought the ticket from this year assured me that they'd let me in at 4:00 with just a MNSSHP ticket. And if you have reservations at a restaurant for 4:00 or later that guarantees that you'll get in...

I have a question about trick-or-treat bags! :) I'm guessing they provide you with bags, but are they just cheap and plastic? Should I bring my own or use what Disney provides? Do they sell any Disney trick-or-treat buckets, bags, etc. in the park during the event?

My mom and I are making bags and taking them. We're buying canvas bags with handles to decorate with Halloween designs on them. And then we're going to have the characters sign them. I'm hoping we can find orange bags around Halloween time. I think they would look better than the plain bags.

I never really gave much thought to going to this...but the more I read...the better it sounds!! Our last night at WDW will be September 15...can I still get tickets for that night, or do you think I'm too late??
