I only have 2 days at Disney and wonder if it would be better to go to MNSHP on thursday 10/14/04 or spend the day in the parks. Sister in law won't pay for both, so have to pick one or the other.

Really depends. I personally LOVE MNSSHP. If you enter at 4pm- thats still 8 hrs if you stay right through midnight. Has everyone in your "party" been to the MK? If not then I probably wouldn't make MNSSHP their first and only visit.

We would not be able to go to the park until 7:00 if we do the halloween party, without using our park hooper pass, which is what we would have to forgo. My family are DVC's so we go often and the party looks great to me. My sister in law and her family probably won't go back and have only been once before. I want to make it a nice trip for her, but she is having sticker shock already, so paying for a day in the park and then another $30 something for the party is more than she is willing to do. SO I am wondering if just doing the party and skipping the day in the park would be worth it (we could do a water park as that is on our park hoppers and if she doesn't use them on this trip she wouldn't get the use). It's hard when you are trying to plan for someone else, there are sooooo many choises of things to do and so little time.

You can enter the park around 4:00 pm for the party with a MNSSHP ticket only. You do not need to use a park hopper. We did this in 2001 and it was wonderful!! We went on splash mountain 4 times in a row....okay, my son did:D The party was wonderful!! I would definately do it again! I loved seeing "Tinkerbell/The witch" and the headless horseman. The night we went (Nov 1) there were no lines for vitually anything.

Hope you decide to go. You won't regret it!

We were allowed in at 4pm on 10/01 this year with no problems, and used no other park passes. The official Disney line states 6:30 - but I can tell you, it's 4pm.
That said - the rides were walk on, but the crowds were MUCH worse just walking around the park. We had a great time - but I don't know if it was worth the extra park tickets. I would have rather just gone during the day without so many people! Our kids had a great time dressing up and getting candy, so it was worth it for them. The fireworks are pretty impressive, and the decor is rather neat.
If it's the only chance you'll have to go to MK - I'd say go on a regular day, and skip the party. Have fun!

We had a similar problem last year. It depends on how bad you want to go to MNSSHP. Some in our group just elected to skip it and spent their evening elsewhere. We kept all options open for ourselves and made sure the party was one of them.

We went for the first time last Halloween and loved it. It was sold out but the rides were all walk ons. The event is a really good time - and a great change of pace if you're a seasoned park goer.

It will take up the entire night and if you're only left with a park hopper for one day, then you really need to consider what you want to see and do - even if it means splitting up from 7-12 the first night.
