I have done it. You have to have purchased MMB and then you can use points for the passes.
They have to be direct points (or grandfathered resale points from years ago). If you have recent resale points that do not let you book at newer resorts, then those points cannot be used.

Interesting
Some of our points are grandfathered in the group that can be used for any resort but not for cruises, etc. Do you happen to know if those are the ones that can be used? Also, do you happen to know if holding points can be used?

I believe it is from one of the older restrictions that is the cutoff because some members were told that the points have to be "eligible for trades". So if they aren't good for cruises then they probably won't be for the passes either. I think that cutoff was around 2012 while the use at all resorts was around 2019
Holding points are a no I believe, but you can use banked, borrowed, or OTUP towards the pass

Holding points are a yes. They can be used towards an AP through the MMB.
I had a misstep with a few points on a reservation and called in just a few days ago to see what my options would be to use them. CM confirmed that yes, I could use those points in Holding towards the AP renewal since they were direct.
