MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Hi! Newby here! I am Simpleone's daughter. I started step 1 last Saturday and here I am...I will have lots of questions I'm sure. I have begun to read through some of the posts...whew!!! Thanks for letting me connect.

Just a little about me...I'm a stay at home mom with two boys (ages 1 & 3), we live in a suburb of Indianapolis, IN and my husband is a Process Engineer (went to Purdue). I decorate cakes and I've recently started babysitting for my friend, too. I decided to start MM because I am severely addicted to sugar :worship: (cookies and cakes are my drugs of choice) and my mom always talks about how her cravings have disappered and decided I need that. Well, I at least need a healthy balance.

Actually, I do already have a question...what things did you all eat for snacks in Step 1? I'm sick of nuts and stringcheese already and I don't care for raw veggies (I prefer cooked). I also snack A LOT due to my little one still nursing. Annnnnnd...what else do you eat for breakfast besides eggs? I'm getting sick of eggs fast. I have been drinking the Atkins shakes with my breakfast.

I would love to hear your feedback and if you have any questions for me then fire away. Like I said I babysit during the day, but I check the computer every once in awhile when the kids are distracted.

OMG...its Friday the 13th!!:scared1:

Can you imagine the Friday the 13th 73 years ago when my grandparents who had waited 8 years to be blessed with a child finally had my Mom?? My grandfather pushed his way into the delivery room, which was unheard of in those days, of course! He carried a picture of my Mom taken when she was 8 in his wallet until the day he died. It took them 8 more years to have my uncle. Their doctor said my grandfather was an elephant - took them so many years to make a baby! Tom and I had the exact same experience 50 years later! We many be few in our family, but we love hard:cloud9:Thought I would bring you a story of great luck on a Friday the 13th!

:welcome:SweetFace! We're glad to have you here with us! My husband calls me SweetCheeks:lovestruc

Turkey roll ups with a dab of cream cheese, or just plain, are a good snack for a nursing mom. I made shakes really often on Step 1 for breakfast, as I am not a big egg eater. Of course I prefer fruit in them (on Step 2), but you can have dark cocoa and natural peanut butter with a flavored protein powder for a delicious shake. I like to use almond milk as the base. Silken tofu makes a beautiful creamy shake, as well. My husband still prefers my vegetable frittata, which is in our recipe thread, as his breakfast. It has eggs in it, but a very different choice than plain eggs. I like to serve it with some salsa and a scoop of cottage cheese for a cool contrast. You can also have cottage cheese topped with nuts or cinnamon as a breakfast or snack. Flax crackers with reduced fat herbed cheese spread is another great option. The clam dip in the book is quite good and you could use the flax crackers or blanche some veggies if you don’t like them raw. Hope that helps!

Robin: WhooHooo on making the cake for others without tasting! Glad you got to talk to Ken! He really doesn’t give us cavities! Today is my Mom’s birthday so when people say it’s bad luck I say it’s always been good luck to me! She was actually born on a Friday the 13th. You would so love my Mom! She’s adorable and the most supportive person I’ve ever known. I have a Mom who doesn’t believe in changing people, but I have a Dad who makes up for it, lol!

I love kitchen gadgets AND purses! And shoes!

Kate: That sheep lung thing is pretty disgusting. Especially since I just had to help my client find a loving home for his 12 sheep before we could sell his property. He would freak out!

Kathy: Hope you find the purse that calls your name!

Mom and I are going out today for the day. We usually go to the Gold Country, have lunch and poke aruond the little shops, but she wanted me to compare the weather today so she can stay warmer so we're going to the outlet mall in Vacaville since they have Coldwater Creek - her favorite. Not nearly as scenic, but fun for a change.

Have fun today. I'm sure you'll be able to find something for you too, eventhough it's not your birthday

Welcome Abbie! You should try the sweet nuts recipe in the book. That's one of my favorite snacks mixed in with the chocolate ricotta pudding. I whip the ricotta first to make it smooth.
Emerald makes Choco-Almonds which are good for a chocolate fix.
Olives and pickles are good for a salty crunchy craving.

Lisa - Happy Birthday to your Mom!! I love the Friday the 13th good story. I hope you have a wonderful time together. You're very lucky.

Robin - You're one busy woman! Who would've thought you could bake a chocolate cake and not even taste the icing? Way to go!! :thumbsup2
I'm a kitchen gadget freak. When my friend was helping me move she couldn't get over all the things I have. Everyone needs a fish spatula - especially me since I don't eat fish. :rolleyes1

I love all the kitchen stuff, too. When I go to Ross, there is this BIG magnet that just sucks me thru the whole store and into the back where all the pots and pans are. I am a sucker for ceramics...give me hand painted pottery and I begin to drool. I have been feeling a need to buy lots of cake stands lately. Forget the fact that I'm not making cakes now...I JUST WANT THEM. I haven't been able to convince myself that they are a need and not just an obsession. And anyway, where would I put lots of cake stands. They don't collapse or come apart for storage. I'm also liking pitchers right now. Oh well.

Sssshhhhhhh...... Don't talk about those 12 sheep too loudly. The fancy pet store might hear! Maybe we can ship them off to Robin's house? Robin - how do you feel about adding 12 sheep to your menagerie?

Have fun with your mom today!

I don't have too much of a thing for purses. I do like bags though, like tote bags. I would have too many of them if I let myself. Kitchen gadgets are not too much my thing either. Unless it serves a useful purpose, like my yogurt maker, that was worth it. But... here's my secret weakness. Pajamas! And nightgowns! And slippers! I don't mind robes either!:dogdance:

Pony, I love hearing about Ken. I think it's wonderful you found someone. God is defiantly working in your life!

Hi Abbie! Thank god that step one is only for 8 weeks. It does get repetitious! I like 2 slices of deli turkey breast rolled up with a little cream cheese in it. OMG, I had to leave this in here when I heard your post Lisa!!! I think we're on the same wavelength. Abbie, the other thing that is good is some cottage cheese with sweetener in it and cinnamon.

Thank you Kate and everyone for saying my kids are cute in the photos! I've got to love my four legged children! It sounds like your doing so much better today. How are you feeling physically? Are you craving?

Well, I'm frustrated and tired of running out of food and having to go to the store! Arrrggghhh, like Charlie Brown says! I worked hard again yesterday on the new garden I'm making and am feeling it today. I like that I'm exercising so much though. It was almost 50 last night, and today the high is only 73. It's going to be back up to 80 later in the week, so I'm loving this while it lasts! I'll check in a bit later everyone!

Great story, Lisa! I can tell your family loves hard!

:goodvibes Hi, Abbie! Welcome! We are happy to have you here with us! You will find us a great group to hang out with.

Thank you Kate and everyone for saying my kids are cute in the photos! I've got to love my four legged children! It sounds like your doing so much better today. How are you feeling physically? Are you craving?

I wouldn't say that I am craving. My issues seem to be more in my head. Even falling off of the MM train, I feel like I was eating carbs to try and make myself feel better. I don't think that I would say that I was really craving them. I was just craving a feel-good-fix if that makes any sense? Or, maybe I was craving a numb-out-fix? I just popped my first Vit D and will keep taking them. I am also going to take Halle (my four-legged child) for a walk in a few minutes and soak up some sunshine.

Hugs, Nell!

Robin - I was thinking of you when I wrote about the sheep lungs! ;) You have to wonder who came up with that and who makes them? :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Kate, actually it's really good for them. I give Tyson homemade freeze dried liver treats. Costs too much to buy them. He has also had cow trachea. He devoured it in 5 minutes!
But I know it sounds really gross! When I feed Tyson raw, his coat is soo shiny, he's full of energy and just does great for him all around. Ok, enough information, sorry.

Thank you, Kathy. I am going to buy some Vit D today. I hope you get that purse! I was in Ross last weekend to get some serving pieces for Thanksgiving and I made myself walk right by the purses. They were calling out to me but I didn't listen to them. I told them you would be by later! ;)

Thanks for saving the purses for me Kate!! So many purses, so little time! I may end up getting 2. One at Ross and one at Boscov's. Boscov's has really nice ones that aren't too costly. Oh, what to do LOL:confused3

Hello and welcome!!:cheer2: So glad you made it here!!
I have some of the lavish wraps made by sammie. I put a bit of olive oil, crushed garlic and some mozzy cheese on it and put it in the toaster oven. Sort of a white pizza so to speak. It makes a nice freebie. I do eat eggs everyday. I usually make a western omlet. It is diced onions, peppers, ham and cheddar cheese. You can also do egg salad. I know you said you were tired of eggs, but maybe google egg recipes and you may find some really good ones.
I also eat the sweet nuts in the recipe thread. I use pecans. They are sooo good. You could also grind some of the nuts and put on cottage cheese. I also like dill pickles and olives (sorry Robin LOL).
If you don't mind the aspartamine, you can do sugar free jello with whipped cream. I buy whipping cream and make my own whipped cream. A cup of cream, 1-2 packets of splenda, and about a tablespoon of the torani s/f vanilla syrup. It is really good!!
Also, for a 5x5, use sugar free hot coco. It tastes really good, and you get a chocolate fix!
Congrats on your decision to get healthy! It's a fun ride here, and glad you made it.
Just make sure you drink your water or Laura (Tutu) will zap you, and if you don't drink green tea, Lisa (Wisteria) will zap you.

Thanks for saving the purses for me Kate!! So many purses, so little time! I may end up getting 2. One at Ross and one at Boscov's. Boscov's has really nice ones that aren't too costly. Oh, what to do LOL:confused3

Your choice is obvious! Get two to end your confusion ;)

Howdy - potluck is over...had some salad with a few black olives (haha), a piece of chicken, 1/2 scoop sweet potato, and some broccoli casserole (scraped the bread crumbs off)...my team PIGGED OUT though! There was so much incredible food I couldnt eat!! But didnt want it either!

Welcome Abbie - feel free to ask as many questions as you want! We have asked about all there are to ask already, so are happy to share with you! I know how you feel about the snacks and such...we did rely pretty heavy on the nuts and string cheese too! The deli ham or turkey rollups are good and the protein fills you up and lasts longer too...cottage cheese if you like it got used in creative ways...some put it on toast with a sprinkle of splenda and cinnamon...do you have access to legal 5g carb bread? You can use that as a 5x5 with some natural peanut butter, I dont like raw veggies either, but Diane encourages us to eat lots of them! So I also dip celery in the pb, or in some cream cheese. There are a couple of the atkins bars that have 6g, so I used those too...just left off the last bite.

Lisa - Hope you have that kind of family good luck on THIS friday the 13th!!

Glad there are more of you into kitchen gadgets!! I also have a love for the "Polish Pottery"...dont know if any of you have any of that? It is just a beautiful line of plates, servers etc...google it, its really nice stuff! My family knows to add a piece to my collection anytime a gift is in order...

Kate - BRING ON THE SHEEP!! Pony doesnt have any sheep yet, but Im sure the ponies wouldnt mind!!

Nell - Im not a purse gal either but Im with you on the tote bags! I have tons and love them!!

Lisa, hope you had fun with your mom today. Thank you for sharing your mom's story with us!

I am not much of a purse person either. My old one is getting rather worn :(
My passion is candles. I absolutely love them. If I walk through a craft store, I have to stop and smell all the candles LOL. There was a little candle place in our mall, and I loved the nutmeg and cream scent. They went out of business, so now I don't know what I'll do. I also love the wood wick caramel scent. It is awesome!!

I like kitchen gadgets, but no room for any of them. I do collect dust too! :lmao:

Okay, Robin. Did you hear that? Cow trachea! I am laughing Kathy! I bet Tyson loved it and I know Halle would too! Has Tyson been wearing his shoes?
