MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Robin,
I was looking on the Celestial Seasonings website and they offer a wide variety of green teas. There are a lot of different kinds with fruit added and other herbs too. Their shipping cost don't look too good but you might be able to see a variety you would like to try and get a local store to order it. I drink their Roastaroma with 1 TB cocoa added, some splenda and cream. It's what I fix when I'm craving a dessert.

I have been swimming the past few weeks but am starting to get itchy again and don't know if it's my chlorine allergy or poison oak from the dogs. I sure am hoping it's poison oak because I feel so good when I swim.

I was told yesterday that I look like I've lost a considerable amount of weight. I have a neck again! I'm kind of afraid to weigh since last time I did I was very disappointed with the figure. I remember Diane saying to weigh at 8 wk intervals. I think that is coming up at the end of this month. I'm nervous about it.

Carol
Step 2

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Hi Carol! Good to hear from you. I thought you found a salt water pool? Do they still use chlorine? I know how much you enjoy swimming, I hope you don't have to stop
If you are losing inches, and it sounds like you are, then please don't worry about what the darned scales say. So many of us are losing inches and feeling good and that's what matters.

Ok, now I KNOW I can't have splenda--made a bread pudding the other day and it had alot of splenda in it and I got a wicked headache the rest of the day--not good!

Nell--have you ever gone to Maggiano's restaurant in Tampa? we went and the food was yummy!! Wish I had more time to shop at the Beall's outlet over there!

Was up 2 pounds since Florida which is a bummer. Worked out 1 1/2 hours yesterday! Ellipical with a friend for an hour and walked my dog for 1/2 hour. Its rainy today but want to get her out for another walk! Workouts are so much easier when you chat with a friend!

have a great day everyone!!:lovestruc

Hi Natalie. Up 2 lbs isn't bad for vacation. I'm sure it'll be back down in no time

Good Morning Ladies!

I got home last night and my new cookbook came, George Stella's Good Carb Family Cookbook. I LOVE low carb cookbooks. I pored over it last night and then crashed early. Why is it we need to get more rest after a vacation? I have a couple of recipes from the book that I'm anxious to try today since I'm off for Veterans Day. One is Cinnamon Crisps made with almond flour. All the ingredients are step1 legal. Did we ever decide if almond flour would be considered free? They are similar to what a graham cracker is and a serving is 3 crackers, net carbs 2. That's less than a serving of almonds so I'm thinking free  The other recipe I'm trying today is pan fried cheese pizza :lovestruc A little high fat, but would be nice to have as a free snack or lunch once in awhile. I'll post the recipes if they turn out well. The only thing I don't like about some of Stella's recipes is he uses soy flour which I'm not crazy about. I may try substituting almond flour or coconut flour in the one's that sound good.
Hope everyone is feeling good and having a great day. I'll check back in later.

I have this one too--let me know what you make and if you like it. I got the bread pudding recipe from here--it was good but boy what a headache from the splenda. I'll try stevia next time. Almond flour is legal

Hi Everyone!

Carol - yea for the compliments! Sorry to hear you are itching again. Hopefully it's poison oak and goes away soon.

Robin - horses, cows, what's next?

Nell - your orange sounds yummy. When we went to NOLA in February, we toured a historic mansion and the tourguide let us pick oranges from the tree when we left. They weren't very pretty, but tasted faboo! Give your meditation a try. If you don't like it, you never have to go back.

Lisa - good job on the new blazers. I still haven't bought anything new, but have fit in a couple pair of "old" pants. I feel good and that's what matters, plus 3 people now have said they see a difference in me. One friend told me at Monday morning coffee that she had a dream about me and I was super skinny. I asked if I looked good and she said yes!!!! She has never known me skinny, so I thought that was funny. Sorry about the continuing sage of your MILs house. Hopefully you get it worked out soon.

Natalie - glad to see you back. 2 lbs. for vacation isn't too bad at all. I knew someone who went on a cruise. Her DH left out his pants for disembarkation day and packed the rest and set all luggage out the night before. When it came time to get dressed the next a.m., he couldn't even button the pants.:scared1: Had to walk off the ship in the jammies. I would have loved to have seen that. I believe he had some elastic shorts or pants in the luggage once they were able to claim them from customs. :rotfl: Sorry about your headache. :headache: I love Maggiano's. They have one in STL.

Whoever it was who had family that was going to do MM, feel free to invite them, if you like them and think we will too.

Barb - too funny about Pony and leading her to tea! :rotfl:

Melanie - sorry there is sickness in your household. We were having a big discussion at Monday Morning Moms coffee and the seasonal flu shot and H1N1 flu shot.

Jocelyn - I will sit here and feel sorry for you and your never changing weather (not really)

Well, it's back to work for me. See you all soon.

Natalie, I've only lived here since April and I'm actually not going to Tampa for the first time until the 16th. If I knew you were that close I would have invited you for coffee, I mean decaf!

How close to Tampa are you? I totally thought of you but I was afraid I wouldn't have time to see you so I didn't say anything. We went to Chili's on 52 or 55 (or was it 54) or it could have been 19!! Thats how crazy it was. My brother in Law manages there. He lives in the Summertree development--have no clue if that is near you or not. The next day we went to Maggiano's and the following we flew home. We were only there for 2 1/2 days and with family there we were always going! next time definitely!!! someone brought up needing a vacation from your vacation which is so true.

aacckk!!! how embarrassing to have to wear your jammies!! thank goodness my capri's were loose when I left!!! OMG, our family kept ordering food at Maggianos, it was so good--I totally stuffed myself that night (and a good cabernet J. Lohr was awesome) my stomach actually hurt, I haven't felt that in a while. where is STL?

Sorry, St. Louis, abbreviated at STL for an airport and the St. Louis Cardinals!

Hi Barb - I got a couple George Stellas too, but they do use alot of soy...I think I was only able to find a few things I wanted to try!

You are too funny...you can't lead a Pony to olives either!! :lmao:

Nell - I would LOVE to curl up with the dog and a book, but had to come to work instead...ugh...

Melanie - that green tea is just weird tasting...dont know why, as I love tea in general, but that and the chamomile just taste YUK to me! (sorry Lisa, but YUK is YUK!)

Carol - thanks for the info on the teas...I think I am going to put them on the list for my Ct trip at Christmas...not going to pay more for shipping then the tea costs!! But it is nice to view the website so I can plan what flavors to look for.

Lisa - is that good news on the roof or not? If two attorneys say you arent liable, then I wouldn't do it!! Thats so GREAT that you are in size Lg jackets!! Wow, I cant wait for that day...you are doing so well Im sure that the leather one will be your New Years jacket!!

Natalie - 2 pounds is all you gained with all that food you ate? NOT BAD...I would be the one walking off the ship in my jammies!!:rotfl:

Bev - ponies, cows, the next thing to get out is the chickens!! Of course when they get out all they do is come up to the house looking for bread...I know it sounds weird but our chickens just go crazy over BREAD!! OMG, maybe they are MET B, craving carbs!!!:rotfl2:

did you get my post about starting a new thread? Just wondered since we are over 1000 posts now?

With the talk about macadamia nut and chocolate coffee, I went online and OMG, it's really expensive  So I decided to make my own macadamia nut/chocolate coffee creamer. I ordered the pumpkin DaVinci syrup and also the macadamia nut. I'm going to mix some sf DaVinci mac nut syrup, sf DaVinci chocolate syrup, 1/2&1/2 and Hoods lc milk. It sounds like it should work..we'll see.

Robin: Yes, it was the roof issue, but it had escalated to more than the roof because of what is likely wrong under it, which we could never have known. The CA contract is "as is" unless otherwise stipulated, unless there is deception, which we didn’t have. We had hired a licensed contractor to do the work and they can go after him if they want, but he doesn’t have any money. It’s a mess.

Did anyone else answer the post about the new family members joining us? Was it Pam who asked? I was going to go back and I forgot to do that and don’t want to not answer. What did everyone else think? I’m supportive of the idea.

That train of Kathy and Nell's must be intercontinental. I've been hit and I can't get up today.
Take two green tea pills and call me in the morning.

Hi everyone,:wave2: I hope everyone had a great day!

It feels good to have time breathe again. I was out hunting for clothes again today. I've been looking for weeks for a new coat. The last one I bought was a size 18. Not today! I found a winter white cashmere one at JC Penny's and am in a large! Oh yeah! lol Lisa, get over here and give me a high five and a hug on that one! I still have things to buy for Mexico and decided today that DH is going to suffer through some of the shopping for it with me. I'll drag him around the mall a few times on Sunday.

Lisa, I had a Greek salad today for lunch at McAllister Deli and it made me think of you. Yum! :goodvibes

It was me that was asking if I could bring my daughter Abbie aboard. She's a sweetheart and is as drama free and polite as they come and if she wasn't, I'd never had even considered it. She's a stay at home mom with two boys. I think you all will like her bunches. She's already impressed me with her families menu this week. I'll let her know how to get here tonight. Thanks you guys!!

Nell, I too hide almost everything on facebook. lol That doesn't make you a party pooper and if it does, then I'm one too! A lot of my kids friends have befriended me and it messes my wall up something fierce. I won't even get on it anymore unless I have a friend request notice in my email or the kids call and tell me to. I'll get back over there and update it with pictures and then join everyone.

Robin, I can't do the tea either and I've tried. I can't choke it down. I've made so many cups and tried several types and end up just giving them to my parents. I can't, I can't, I can't. But I dooooo love olives!! Sorry to hear Ken won't be making it home for Thanksgiving, what a bummer! Surely he'll be home for Christmas, yes?

Carol, I really hope you get to continue swimming and I consider myself very lucky to have my son's family here. We have a two bedroom apartment over my husband's shop out back, where they live. In fact all my kids took turns living there before they bought their own homes. It's been a great leaving the nest spot for them all. Right now they're staying in the old master bedroom and our house is very large so no one is on top of each other. There is nothing like that heather smell of a new born in the home is there.? She is so tiny and has a massive head of black hair and her big eyes have turned dark brown all ready! I love when her mommy gets up every morning and brings her right to me, I don't mind one bit! :cloud9: I could spend entire days just rocking her.

Okay, off to finish up dinner! You all have a terrific evening! Good night!

Pam: What could be better than a Greek salad and awesome shopping! That's how I feel in downtown Portland where my favorite Greek place is within walking distance of great shops. My favorite salad there is the calamari Greek salad. My family loves calamari. This should start a firestorm, LOL!:lmao:

We're looking forward to meeting your daughter and getting her input.

Taped Dr. Oz today and he was giving the warning signs of ovarian cancer, which are subtle and often go misdiagnosed until too late. For my husband's cousin, it was persistant lower back pain. She was a nurse, ladies, and died from ovarian cancer! Anyway, some of the symptoms are the same as we experience in MM. The key is if the symptom goes on for more than two weeks and is present 50% of the time or more. We could save 90% of people if they knew about it sooner. If you have bloating, an increased waist measurement, belly pain, constipation, a feeling of fullness very soon upon trying to eat or back pain. You might only have one symptom. The difference with us is that when we get bloated on MM, it wouldn't last for 2 weeks. If it does, then an exam is warranted. Pass the word and we could save some lives.:littleangel:

Wow, that's so scary that those symptoms are so common  Thank you for passing the word on to us.
Do you think you have the flu today? How are you feeling now? I got my seasonal flu shot already but I'm very hesitant to get the H1N1 shot. I've heard so many negative things about it.

Lisa - so if they cant sue the roofer, do they plan to come after you anyway? It sure sounds like a mess, but I cant see how it could possibly go in their favor...I voted to say YES to Pam's daughter yesterday...must have got lost in all the posts! Sorry you arent feeling well, there are still TONS of folks at work out sick...

Pam - cant wait to meet your daughter! Glad someone else besides me hates that darn tea...watch out though, Lisa has appointed herself Tea Police!! I sure do hope Ken makes it home for Christmas too...I just dont want to get my hopes up now, as things are such a mess for him there...the contract still has several months to play out before the projected completion date, so who knows?:confused3 NOt much I can do at this point!! At least I will be spending that holiday in Ct with my daughter and her family, so that will make me feel better then being here alone!!

Ok, sorry guys, I have another question....I have been reading up on the interval training to get rid of belly fat, and got a site that said that there are 2 types of belly fat...the flabby, jello type, and then the solid type...mine isnt the lower belly, its the belly between oobies and waistline that just wont go down...and it isnt flabby and jelloy ( is that a word?!!! LOL) it is definitely solid...the site said that type is usually caused by bloating and that the most likely culprits for this are wheat and dairy....OK, now I have never been sensitive to either that I KNOW of, but is it possible to acquire that sensitivity? It occurs to me, that I am eating ALOT of wheat products on step 2...FAR MORE than ever on step 1...whole grain crackers, wheat bread and english muffins, etc...just had an AHA, and wondered what you thought? Dont know what else I could use instead of wheat-based 11-20...does anyone know if rye bread fits ? It has been driving me crazy that my upper belly hasnt deflated any, and my lower belly is definitely of the flabby, jello type, but that seems to have gone down...trying NOT to be too neurotic or Type A here, but just thought maybe that might make some sense...I did have the Julian bread on step 1 too....it says to eliminate the wheat products for 14 days and see if it makes a difference.

Robin: Most rye bread has wheat in it. You should ask your store for gluten free bread. Rice bread is fine, but then again, I don't know about the carb count. You might have to get your carbs from brown rice, veggies and fruit mostly for the 14 days. I've heard you can really shrink your belly if you drink green tea.:lmao:

The buyer will probably try to sue me, but my corporate attorney is confident that we have no liability. He's the best there is, I'm sure. It's awful when something bad happens and there isn't a solution. The buyer won't let the orginal roofer help out and she won't let anyone besides a contractor we think has misdiagnosed the situation work on it. His bid is so open-ended we can't agree to it. We were willing to try to help her out of kindness and a reluctance to go through a lawsuit but we've reached a wall and there's no viable solution for us to be involved so we're backing down. I think the worry and stress did a number on me, culminating with the meeting with another attorney we hired yesterday. He was wonderful, but I've been wound up like an 8-day clock, as my husband would say. Thank goodness we have leftovers.

Lisa - well, I am so sorry you are stressed out over all that...seems like she would have been better off tyring to work with you...now she will end up with nothing! I looked at Julian and they have an awesome sounding gluten free, yeast free, sugar free bread...but of course it is only 2g carbs, so wouldnt help me with 11-20 stuff...maybe i will just ask Diane first!! DUH!

Y'all are WAY too quiet these past few days...what gives with that?

She's probably going to tell you to give it more time. My husband has 'hard' fat in his abdomen and it is going down. It will be his last place to lean out, but there's a measureable difference, so it's working!

I wonder if Wassa Bread rye has wheat mixed in? They meet the count perfectly and are very nice with a little sammie stuff on top, especially tuna.

Robin, it sounds like you and I are built a lot alike. At 228lbs I was hard as a rock all over, my body mass was so dense that no one believed me when I told them my weight. Add heavy muscle packed under it all and I was like a rock wall. My stomach was just as you describe as well. I've always had the opposite problem than most over weight people, I look much smaller than my actual weight. My tummy looks like a landslide of soft mush going south right now, hate it! But it's great not having that dense, hard, heavy feeling that I had for so darn long. My initial though is that you need to give it more time, and to not assume the worst. I know people develop allergies all the time, and what you fear maybe a possibility. I like Lisa's idea of using other forms of carbs for the fourteen days, couldn't hurt. This is really a tough one.:confused3 So what more have you found out about the interval training? Anything promising?

Lisa, so nice to see you manage to keep your sense of humor even under stress. ::sliding my mug of green tea over::: It has to feel good and hopeful knowing that two lawyers confirm that there is no real case against you. My continued good wishes on this one.

I can't find or remember who it was that recently announced that they can't take artifical sweetners? Me too!! I get massive headaches and tummy aches when I use them. I feel like I'm missing out at times but then remember how bad they make me feel and I get over it real fast. Something funny I dicovered a couple weeks ago. I snitched a piece of a chocolate cookie and the real sugar has also taken on an artifical taste for me. This absolutely cannot be a bad thing!

Going to say good night once again. Have a restful night everyone!

Pony, it may not be a new sensitivity. How long have you been overweight? If you have carried extra weight in your upper belly for a while, you would never have known that it was a gluten sensitivity that helped cause the bloat. Try to eliminate all gluten for the 2 weeks. Do you have a local grocery not too far away that might carry gluten free breads? If not, you can order online. I know it will cost more but will be worth it to settle the matter. It amazes me how our bodies start to speak more loudly to us the older we get :sad2:
