Todays magic kingdom welcome show seemed shorter than normal. Was there a problem with the train?

It was that way Sun Nov 27th as well. I was really disappointed, actually- I loved the old show; same thing, def. shorter and no train.

During our trip in May we saw both the regular show and shortened one. Maybe they just rotate them every so often? :confused3 I hope they didn't shorten it for good!

Same for me a couple of weeks ago. On Tuesday morning, when MK opened at 9, I saw the full opening show with the train and the Mayor and everything. Then on Saturday, when MK opened at 8, I saw a very short version that just has a few characters come out with the family of the day. They had a quick countdown and threw some streamers and that that was it. I figured it had something to do with it being 8 instead of 9. I dunno.:confused3

There are 3 versions

Full- train, characters, family of the day
Short- no train, characters, family of the day (what you saw)
Announcement- no train, no characters, no family of the day.

It's a crapshoot

We do every morning EMH at MK that is offered during our trips. We have always seen the short version at an 8am opening. We have seen the longer version the few times we've gone for a 9am rope drop.

We heard the short version last week on a regular 8 AM open day, not the EMH 8 am emh day. In fact, we were there Thursday for the 8 am emh on Thursday and it was the full version.

We were in the park for the BBB the day we head the short version. We were paying close attention because we only got into the park a few minutes ahead of the crowd and we were running down Main Street to hit a couple photopass photogs as they all came running! We thought we had more time! :lmao:

In Sept/Oct we did 2 MK AM EMH's 1 was short show 1 was regular.

In Nov we did 1 MK AM EMH it was the shortened show.

Seems that the trend is starting to lean toward shorterned shows on AM EMH days anymore but still not enough to call it a for sure thing.

I'm happy to report that today's opening show was the full version. It was an 8am non-EMH opening

MK is actually the last park that still has an opening show. All other parks did away with theirs during the past year.

Apparently they have 3 different versions at MK and you can get any of them.

It's kind of disappointing that AK, EP and DS have done away with the pre-shows. No matter how many times I go, we always arrive for opening and always enjoy the pre-show and countdown to entry to each park. I'm sad that I won't be able to share those moments with my extended family in Feb., but at least MK still has a magical opening to the park. I hope when we arrive, they will be able to see the MK opening in its entirety.
