On Labor Day Weekend, Saturday Sept 5, MK is open until 12am, with EMH until 2am. This is the midpoint of our trip and we actually have a complete rest day scheduled the next day. Nothing but 530pm dinner.

I was going to go to Epcot and stay through illuminations on this day. Now I am considering AK, rest, and then head to MK for as long as the kids (15,12,9) are happy.

Any thoughts? Will MK just be too crowded to make this worth it? Are the late night EMH lines manageable?

We went on that night last year and had a blast. Most lines are short and all move quickly since there are no FP+ returners bogging down the rides. Onsite attendance is lowest during the summer, which also means fewer people at EMH, but the park will still be more crowded than you expect it to be because a lot of people just like to hang out even though they can't ride or shop during EMH. With your kids' ages and the fact you can sleep in the next day, I'd say it's a no-brainer!

We will see you there. We have CG for Wishes then we are headed over for the late night.

As long as we arrive before midnight, it only counts as a ticket for Saturday right? I don't have a ticket to use for Sunday.

Yup, we were there same night last year and it was really busy till about 12, then the majority of the park was walk on.

My oldest and I love the evening EMH at MK. We never miss closing the park no matter what day the EMH fall on. The crowds seem to dwindle really quickly after midnight. There is plenty of time to get some near walkon rides in. This past trip we even managed to keep DW and DS4 out until 2 but that was with a late beginning and no plans the following morning. There's something cool about walking out of the MK at 2:05 eating a Mickey Ice Cream for a later than midnight snack.

The later the park is open, the better. 2AM closings are fantastic! We really enjoy MK at night and love riding the rides over and over.

Definitely worth it! I did it on my last trip. It was a blast. I was goofing around on the app recently one night when MK was open until 1am and there were NO wait times.

YES. Definitely worth going. Lines get very short after about 12:30.

Do it! Especially with the rest day following. They call them extra MAGIC hours for a reason. :)

Definitely worth it! You will be able to get so much done and then rest the next day! :)

Sorry to hijack, OP, but I have a question about that same day.
We get off a 7 night cruise on the 5th. It's me, dh, dd 4 &12. I was thinking of doing AK right from the port, resort check-in/late lunch/rest, HS, late dinner/rest then off to MK. Is that absolutely crazy??
Was thinking we could have a full resort day on the 6th and then late morning flight home on labor day.

Never done it, but we plan to stay until 2am in August. We are going to get up late that day and relax before heading to Epcot around 5pm. Then we aim to enter MK 10:45/11:00pm. I think it is important to sleep in both on EMH day and the day after.

It will be our first time doing a 12:00 to 2:00am EMH this coming trip. How long would you sleep in on the day of?

I did it last year until 1:00! It was my first experience at MK and boy was it GRAND!!!!! We'll be there that night! If you see a Black Mommy, a White Daddy, and kids with the biggest hair in the known universe...that's US!

The plan is to wake the children and go to morning EMH at DHS. Stay until 3:30. Get back and sleep 4-7:30. Eat dinner at Whispering Canyon at 8:30. Then hit MK around 10:00 until 2:00! Then snooze the next day. We only have dinner at 'Ohana planned for that Sunday night!

We stayed until after 2AM last time, we back to the room at approximately 3AM and were standing at the Epcot gate at 9:30 the next morning. I think we got up at 8.
Wow that would be early getting up after getting to sleep so late that night. Did you sleep in the morning before the EMH? That's what I'm trying to figure out if we should sleep late in order to be able to stay up until 2:00am.
